  1. So Bamboo, what are your reasons for switching to 9Major?
  2. Very similar to .38 Super, Wikipedia has case dimensions.
  3. Gennaro, have you ever thought of threading a standard barrel for a cone fit 2011 comp (like a ThunderComp 2) and putting it in your Gold Team slide?
  4. I don't have the bit, so I'm going to try this first.
  5. I used an abrasive wheel on my miter saw and cut it as square as I could, then polished it with 500 then 2000 grit sandpaper; I'll post the target once I get a chance to shoot it.
  6. Other that 1911s??? I'll take a CZ over a 1911 all day! Get your hands on a Tactical Sport and you'll know what I'm talking about.
  7. So I'm been feeling my oats in the home gunsmithing area for the past few years, growing bolder with each project including drilling and tapping my frame, threading barrels, etc. so yesterday I tried a new challenge: cutting a barrel to length. I bought a 9X21 top end for a Tanfoglio because I wanted the comp and slide, so what to do with the basically useless 9X21 barrel? What a perfect candidate for my experiment! I started by shooting a control group (ten shots at ten yards): Not bad, but certainly not a tack driver; the barrel started life as a 9X19, then was reamed to 9X21 and the lands of the rifling were cut back some too, which may be to blame for the group (certainly not my abilities!). Then I proceeded to hack a brutal, crooked cut with a chop saw: And shot a second group of ten shots at ten yards: I'll let you be the judge, but if you ask me, the accuracy remained completely unchanged. Precise 11 degree crown my foot!
  8. Try a clone, I picked up a small frame Tanfoglio Mossad on GB for $300 and have been having all kinds of fun with it. Sarsilmaz and Canik pistols can be had for reasonably cheap too!
  9. Nealio, isn't the long recoil system part of the appeal of a long slide pistol?
  10. Here's a writeup I did on my experiment with a CZ and a sight pusher tool: I found that it wasn't a lack of force from the hammer, but too much give in my vise (bolted to my workbench); I actually clamped my slide to my work bench right at the leg and struck downward at the sight; it was still tight, but I was able to get it to move then. Aerokroil penetrating oil helps too.
  11. I bet you could make the guide rod from a 6" 1911 work pretty easily: http://www.1911store.com/guiderodsti-6-inch.aspx
  12. Mark, I don't have one to be sure, but I would bet the guide rod on the GT is the same length as the one on your match or shorter.
  13. A brass punch will help prevent damage to the sight (probably too late this time, but hey...).

  15. I think if I tried hard enough I could get my TS under a pound, it's between 1-1.5 right now depending on the hammer spring.
  16. I have a Jericho which runs about 2.5#/6.5#, but I heard Stuart got a 75 down around 2#/4#...
  17. When I was looking for a thumb rest to put on my Limited gun, I stumbled across one for an airsoft gun; it looked nicer than the offerings for 2011s and was $16 shipped, so I said "what the hell, aluminum is aluminum right?" I did some modifications to make it fit my hole pattern and it worked out great: With my little Tanfo Open project I've been having a hell of a time finding a good comp, since the small frame has a smaller diameter barrel than a 2011 I'm stuck with the offerings from Numrich (the three port aluminum 9mm comp they sell is actually for .40 and the two port leaves something to be desired). One day, surfing the web I came across a compensator for an airsoft gun?!? I figured for $13 shipped I would check it out: The exit hole was already just about right for 9mm (~0.38") so I drilled out the threads and threaded female M14X.75 threads and here it is: I went to the range, shot it today and I'll be damned: it worked pretty well! With major loads it was very flat, but it doesn't have a lot of baffle area, it was pretty hard on the hand. Pretty awesome if you ask me!
  18. You can put it in, but you won't chamber a round unless you open up the breech face, which I hear is very difficult even with the right equipment. I have shot a 9mm barrel in a .40 slide with no I'll effects.
  19. Update: CZ mag worked fine today in my Uzi Eagle.

    24 or 35?

    That's what she said!
  21. It looks like the back of the mag (from base to feed lips) is the same, but the front is a hair shorter on the CZ, meaning the front lip is cut lower on the CZ.
