I think the Cajun Gun Works SRT kit leaves the FPB in place.
  2. That's a cool project, I've done something similar with a small frame: I used a bull barrel comp, but I think your slide should be able to mate up to a cone comp setup like a ThunderComp 2: The standard, large frame barrel has an OD of 15mm (.591), which could be turned down ans threaded to 0.575x40 for the TC2... Otherwise, I don't see why the Gold Team upper wouldn't work on your frame, if I'm not mistaken, the slide is identical to the one you have on it now (except for the cuts); did one of the girls at EAA tell you that?
  3. I would leave the Dremel in the case and use a sharp half round file; I think file strokes down the length of the frame will help keep you going slow and keep the material coming off evenly. But that's just me...
  4. Great find! You didn't get that slide from gnhowell1 did you?
  5. The comp in the picture above is a two port steel Tanfoglio small frame part with a thread of M14X0.75, in my obsession I have picked up more than half a dozen comps, so I've got lots of info; feel free to PM me with any question.
  6. There is a guy in my club shooting SS 9mm Minor, but he's the only one I've seen.
  7. Yes Marketing. Who would spend a similar amount of money just to have the bushing fit tighter without the cool looks to distinguish their Accu-Shadow from all other Shadows? I know spent a lot more money to have a smith lighten my slide with cool looking ball cuts than I would have just drilling holes in the slide myself, but the effect would have been the same.
  8. That's some great data superdude, thanks for sharing.
  9. I made one on my drill press from a piece of 3/8" rod:

  11. Thanks for the advice guys, I'm thinking I might just have to grab it...
  12. I'm pretty new to USPSA and just getting started reloading so I'm just starting to understand the difference in feel between bullet weights. From what I gather, at any given PF, the heavier, slower bullet is more of a soft push and the lighter, faster bullet is snappier, but what about the same weight bullet at the same speed in different calibers? The reason I ask is that I'm lusting after a 6" gun (Witness Hunter), but I can only find it in .45 (I would prefer .40 for Limited). I've owned a few .45s and have always preferred the recoil impulse of my .40, can I use a light bullet to make the .45 feel more like a .40? I wouldn't mind shooting L10 with the .45. I've never really given .45 a fair comparison since my .40 is a full dust cover 5" gun (CZ TS) and the .45 was a 4 1/2" gun with a short dust cover (Witness). Does anyone have any experience with this?
  13. I wouldn't mess with the feed lips unless you're having failures to feed.
  14. I wouldn't squeeze the mags like the 2011 tuning post says because if they already bulge when loaded to 20 and won't drop free. I took some metal off the inside of the frame and polished it; no more problems. If you want 21 reloadable, I think the way to get it would be to trim a coil off the spring, though I'm not going to risk it.
  15. I've got one on a Tanfoglio slide, but it doesn't have the same hook as a TS:
  16. That turned out great Mark! Good work. I sent you a PM about the barrel threading.
  17. I've got a Shadow on the way that I'll eventually have milled to accept the TS fixed rear sight, I don't know how anyone racks their slide without it!?!
  18. The springs are from CZC too right? How old are they? I haven't had any trouble with mine.
  19. The hammer is SAO (only two holes, DA has a third hole for the disconnector), the sear would work for either.
  20. My shooting buddy has been shooting a .45 in Production because it's what he has, now that he's reloading we're going to try some sub-major loads and see what it feels like. A lot of shooters seem to enjoy 40 Minor in Production, but of course 9mm is dominant.
