Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I've used Blue Dot with very good luck but have wanted to try Power Pistol for a while but load data is somewhat sketchy. Wondering what is good starting and definite maximum amounts to use. From what I've found so far it sounds like low 7's is good starting and high 9's are getting dangerous but Alliante's site shows 10 gr. so there's a bit of a difference. I have been using 180 gr. Nosler JHP bullets with good results. If anyone has reliable data it would be greatly appreciated. reloading on Dillon 550 if that matters. Pistol is a Tanfoglio (EAA) Witness Match with longer barrel and compensator, updated Wolff spring. Thanks in advance for any help.
  2. Mainly I simply thought it would look cool and wanted to keep what level of accuracy I had. To elaborate for other comments, I can get 10 shot strings with 4"-5" groups @ 50 yds. I want to keep that accuracy out to 80+ yds. (extending accuracy). Upon further consideration, longer distance accuracy may be affected more by my eyesight and red dot sight than bullet type. Info like telling me a very large/long projectile just doesn't leave enough room for enough powder to maintain accuracy, is what I was looking for.
  3. I wanted to see if I can keep or even improve accuracy out to 80 or maybe even 100 yds. If it can be improved even more at 50 yds, I would be interested in that also. Much of what Intel6 said is what I was wondering about and unfortunately worried about (heavier bullets=less powder)
  4. Does anyone know if they exist, where and how much for 10mm(.40cal), ballistic tip, 200+ grain, jacketed projectiles? I like Nosler and Hornady but open to others. I'm trying to extend accuracy range past 50 yds. and I just think they would look cool. If anyone has tried them I would love to hear how they perform. FYI, this is for my pistol, a match witness with extended barrel and comp.
  5. Well, I finally got the Guide spring rod refitted to work properly and it looks really nice, now my next job(s) is to figure out colors and I'm going to try some Cerakote.
  6. do a google search for usm fab-defense universal scope mount, that should get you to somewhere where you can buy it online, they only come in black anodized so if you want silver like mine you'll need to do the oven cleaner in a bucket deal to remove the black then use some silver polish and voila, one nice silver mount. Let me know if you have any other questions or if I can be of further help.
  7. Have been all along and will continue to do so. I hope I can come up with some good accurate hunting loads.
  8. Factory for now, plan on getting into reloading after next tax return time, I even cheat and start with .40 sometimes so I don't use up what 10mm I still have.
  9. comp was loose on first shooting and ran out of time, seemed good what I could make of it, will try again in next day or two depending on weather. thread was 13.5x.75 or at least that's what the smith told me
  10. Guide spring rod, the one in the pictures earlier in this post.
  11. Has anyone here used ceracoat and how dow I go about buying it or is it a installer only thing?
  12. Gunsmith turned my nice Henning style end down to original style end WITHOUT my approval or asking......NOT COOL!!! Not sure why, perhaps because it was a tight fit past the barrel lug. Should not have mattered as I discussed that issue with him when I dropped it off. He offered to make me a new one ( at no charge ) but I need to send him dimensions, which of course I don't have as I made the part custom to fit. I just can't understand how anyone could do that to someone's hard work without asking, perhaps he's just a dumbass like so many I came across on this journey ( not including anyone on this site ). Oh well, here's photos
  13. would a Dillon RL 550B Reloading Pressbe what you were talking about? and is under $600 for never used in original box be a good price?
  14. OK, I'll try to answer as much as I can. First, the Dillion 550 sounds like the option I would like to go with, what is approx new price or where would I look for a good used one? I have, I would say an average amount of time to spend (while watching tv, winter, etc.). I don't have a lot of money but it's getting better, I know it will be more than $100 but I can't drop $2k either. Calibers would be, 10mm first and foremost, then .40, 9mm at a later time and if the press allows 7.62 x 39, others perhaps down the road. Any other questions, please ask and I'll do my best to answer them as quickly as I can
