  1. OK, I'm having some issues getting my idea accomplished and I figured this forum would be a good place to try to get some info and or help. I have a Witness Match in 10mm. I would LIKE to install a compensator (2/dual port preferably) on it but it is becoming a difficult process. I know I'll need a longer barrel (6") and a longer guide rod, both will need to be cut down and the barrel will be threaded. The current guide rod spring should be usable. I've contacted EAA and Tanfoglio and neither one has a "kit" that will fit so that's out. I could buy a standard upper and and comp kit but that gets spendy and defeats my purpose of buying a Match. Does anyone have any ideas or helpful info. I know it won't be cheap but it shouldn't cost an arm and a leg plus my first born. I have found one used comp on a different forum but the person doesn't respond to emails. One last question, is a .40 comp the same as a 10mm? I know the diameter is the same but does the longer cartridge make a difference? Thanks to anyone who can help
  2. Hi all. Does anyone know of any compensators that sit flush with the X5 Legion slide when using a 5.7" Barsto Extended and Threaded (Suppressor) barrel? I want to run a comp while waiting for a suppressor. Has anyone tried the Range18 or Agency dual port with this barrel? Thank you!
  3. Just cleaned one of my compensators. Took me forever to get rid of years of foul lead and copper "deposits"! My main choice of weapon? the arredondo comp cleaning tool and a dentist cleaning tool along with some solvents. What's your weapon? Screwdrivers? Dremel with bits? solvents? Blasting? Beads?
  4. My brake is effective, but also quite noisy, and there's also the concussion. Of course I wear both plugs and muffs, but after a long day on the range I get a starting headache. Have anyone tried a CRD device on a .223 IPSC/3-Gun rifle? Does it increase the recoil notably, and do the reduced concussion make it more comfortable to shoot? I've thought about getting a steel suppressor, which would help with both the noise and concussion, but I assume that would lead to huge mirage and insanely accelerated barrel wear near the crown..? Thanks!
  5. This thing is awesome. In a small brief testing period of my own, it far beats out the V12. Less Powder, 115g Major, and much softer in hand. I do not have this barrel reamed by the good folks at PD yet. I was very anxious to test it out and quickly made up some loads I knew wouldn't touch major with a 115 from the V12, but Might with the Durso comp. Sure enough I made 166pf with 115g Blues over 7.9g of Power pistol. Loaded @ .....1.06. I can't wait to do more testing with a better powder and after reaming. Thoughts are on AA7.
  6. Looking for race holster recommendations for the 9mm gold team. I have been running a DAA X and have not had stellar results. Though constructed well, I seem to get alot of binding no matter how I have adjusted it. Hoping others can share their experiences and suggestions. I may go a different holster direction if things don't work out. Thanks AP
  7. Hi My muzzle brake shows significant signs of erosion. I have more or less eroded away half the thickness at the center of the baffles. My question is does this affect accuracy or make the compensator less effective? Is there a security issue here? When do you guys change yours? I could always buy a new one, but I am somewhat curious. The comp is a Henning Thor model, and has about 10 000 -15 000 rounds. I have always regarded it as well made and effective. A product I would recommend to anyone. Thanks
  8. Hi everyone, Been lurking and reading for a while and can't seem to find the answer to my problems. So I thought I would throw this out here and hope someone can see something really wrong with my setup, loads or have experienced these problems before. Any help is much appreciated as I'm new to the open gun setup and trying to get my feet wet. I'm determined to make this thing work ahahaha... Issue: Light primer strike Failure to feed (1-20 to 25 rounds) Failure to extract (Fixed by sorting brass and pulling the bad stuff out) Setup: S&W M&P CORE 9L KKM Barrel Carver Custom 3 port comp APEX Forward Set sear and trigger kit (aluminum) APEX competition spring kit Trijicon RMR on the slide (off for now getting fixed) 13 lb Recoil spring Running 23 round mags with wolf extra power spring and Tarren Tactical extensions. Current load worked up: 4.8 grains of WIN 231 with 115 grain x-treme plated projectile. (concerned about this load with a comp) I've run CCI primers and moved over to Winchester primers (Same issues) and loading everything on a Hornady LNL. Steps taken to isolate issue: Removed comp and ran the gun with just the KKM barrel (still had issues) loaded rounds with less OAL 1.12~.005" (Down from 1.169") Used standard mags (still had the same issue) Changed spring from 11lb to 13lbs Polished feed ramp, Barrel breach and any contact surface to eliminate as much drag as possible. Details and evolution: The gun started stock and I put the trigger kit into it and it ran 100%. I then added the RMR on the gun and it was just as reliable as before. Then I added the KKM barrel and comp and that's when I had problems. I've only made one change at a time and evaluated the change every time to make sure it worked. I can usually get through a full mag or down to my last 4-5 in the mag before the issue pops up. Also when I reload, I seem to have the highest chance for a light primer strike (Not sure if this is significant or not). At this point I'm wondering if I have a couple of issues. Based on reading here, I might have an undercharged load for running a comp and I'm running a recoil spring that's too heavy (timing issue on the slide???). The feed issues seem to be when the round is entering the breach it gets stuck so the bullet might go in but the case is not making it all the way forward and into battery. Can someone look at my load data and tell me if I should load more on the hot side. Max is 5.1 grains, but its hard finding data for a gun running a comp on it. I'm wondering if there's not enough gas to cycle the slide properly due to to the comp bleeding off 35-40% of it.

    czechmate doubts

good morning to all you gentlemen from Switzerland i just got delivery of a brand new Czechmate. wonderful gun and at over 5k usd not cheap. needless to say i expect great things from this gun. trigger is fantastic, and all my clubmates were really impressed by the quality and look of the gun so yesterday i took it out to my club for a test and a small competition. ammo used was some minor PF reloads that i use in my Shadow, some commercial ammo, and some major reloads i prepared using data from another local CM owner. 6.8 grains of a locally produced powder (i believe similar in burn rate to the N350) behind a 124 grains copper plated RN bullet, clocked at around 1380 fps. the minor loads produced a few missed ejections that might even be caused by the fact the gun is still new, and clocked speeds a good 50fps higher than in the shadow. so to make a long story short, i am a bit disappointed with the performances of the compensator with major loads. having previously shot a sti 2011, which has virtually no barrel flip, i have to say the CM has as much or even more barrel flip than my stock shadow. a friend who shoots a sti 2011 tested it and his response was "bring it back to the shop immediately" so my questions are, am i doing something wrong or the compensator of the CM is not up to the task? different loads should be used? compensator can be modified? considering the high price i am paying for this pistol, i was expecting top performances, at least on the same level of other guns on the market. thanks and have a good day.
