  1. CZ Custom says their small mag well only fits in the box with adjustable sights, so it looks like the big one is a no go either way. http://czcustom.com/CZ-Tactical_Sport-Mag-Well.aspx
  2. The hammer was the biggest part, the hooks are more like a groove (hence the short travel). I used a felt wheel on my Dremel and automotive rubbing compound to put a mirror finish on the hooks and the sides of the hammer, then just lightly polished the sear surfaces. I've been meaning to strip the frame and polish where the trigger bar contacts the frame, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I should add the disclaimer that I've never fired a round with the 9# hammer spring in place since I didn't like the mushy feel it gave the trigger break; I tried it, weighed it, then went to the heaviest spring I had which was an 18#. I think the 9# spring would probably work with an extended firing pin and soft primers, but for now I'm happy with the heavier spring. The 18# breaks like glass at 1# 10oz, but I still want to experiment with more polishing and a 15# spring. I keep thinking about bobbing the hammer and dropping the spring weight again, but the TS race hammer is $65 and out of stock everywhere, so I think I'll experiment with my little Tanfo instead.
  3. If the barrel lasted 15,000 rounds and cost $150, that's $.01/round fired. I think that's money well spent.
  4. A penny a round for a new barrel, that's not so bad.
  5. I'll bet dollars to donuts that if you back out the screws it'll work.
  6. Did you adjust per/over travel with the slide off? If so that's why. The screws have to be adjusted with the slide on and the hammer cocked by racking the slide, not just cocking it with your thumb. The slide racking effects the reset.
  7. Are you in Canada? Do you have longer base pads for those ten rounders yet?
  8. I need a small frame Tanfoglio!
  9. I guess you better mark me down as a pansy then since after about a hundred rounds, the beaver tail really hurt the top of my hand.

  11. Nope, you just file the breech until it fits.
  12. You can't remove the barrel and comp together, the comp unscrews and the barrel is removed like normal.
  13. What about an SP01 in .40? It has a heavier frame and a longer beaver tail which I think would make it much more comfortable to shoot than the 75B in .40.
  14. The TS has half the trigger bar of the 75 and a different shaped trigger return spring which is much lighter, but like Squirrels said, the 75B can be made to have a great SA trigger in the sub 2# range too.
  15. That was just the beginning, this is what it looks like now: I just got set up to start loading 9mm, so I still need to play with loads and comps (I have 7 at this point!).
  16. The main advantage of the TS over the 75B is the capacity: 21 vs ~15 in a 141mm mag, next is the trigger bar/return spring which has more potential than the standard bar, but if you want a sweet 2# trigger, that is very doable with the 75B. I had one I shot while my TS was at Canyon Creek having the slide lightened; the short dust cover and beaver tail made it much less comfortable to shoot.
  17. Mr. Gator graciously provided me a box of his loads for testing and they are are very soft and very accurate: I have precious few rounds left, which I shoot two at a time to test out different comps. Thanks again.
  18. Looks good, can't wait for the range report!
  19. Frank, my advice is to take it slow, especially at 64; I'm 30 and I over did it with the grippers right out of the box doing workouts twice a day. As soon as the tendons in my wrist started to hurt I put them down completely for a few weeks until I was 100% again. When I started again I was stronger than before. Good luck, and yes, the grip training does amazing things for recoil control.
  20. I'm not sure which pistols you're comparing, but the factory SP01 is $578 and the factory SP01 Shadow is $880, difference of and for that extra $302, you get a different hammer, trigger, sights, safeties, extended mag release, an extra mag and no firing pin block; you can take out the firing pin block on an SP01, but then it's no longer Production legal. Anything I'm forgetting??? I've got a Shadow on order from CZC with their SRT installed and at the same time my shooting buddy ordered a stock SP01, so when they get here, we fully intend to do a side by side comparison and I'll post our findings here.
  21. My total trigger travel is .09" with this hammer: http://czcustom.com/CZ-Competition-Hammer-TS-IPSC.aspx and with a 9# hammer spring the pull weight is 1# 2oz.
  22. Daniel, I can't see in the picture, is that an XD Open gun?
  23. Man that is really exciting! I've got a poor man's CM (converted TS) that I'm going to start working up a load for using HS6 (that seems like the best candidate to make major with our short OAL) and a Montana Gold 124 grain CMJ, but I'd love to see what everyone else says; I'm subscribing to this thread...
