Florida Open 2013
AZGunut replied to SmittyFL's topic in Match Announcements - Pistol Only - USPSA, IPSC & Misc.
I think it's the best match of the shooting season. I agree with the lazy shooter part. Some of the foreign shooters came a hour late both days and refused to reset, just smoke. We finally shuffled the shooting order so those of us who were working shot first, then when they were up, we wouldn't reset. We told them if they want to shoot they need to work. They learned pretty quick. One RO actually high five us. -
Derek at what was Millenium and is now the Palm Beach Shooting Center has the best. It's called Gorilla Grip and works as well as the old TruGrip.

I have heard that Nationals may be heading to Utah after this year. At least for a year or two. I personally would like to see it at a different venue every year.

Could be that your lenses of your c-more is hitting the top of your slide during recoil. People like to mount their sideway mounts as low as possible for asthetics then the C-More takes a beating during shooting. Often you will start to lose zero within the first 30 rounds. Plus the c-more system of locking in your windage and elevation sucks to say the least.

I was 16 last night on the Open/Limited 10 wait list and went on today to day my $10.00 as it was too busy last night and kept timing out. It now says that I didn't pay the $10.00 in time and have been removed from the wait list, even though we have one business day to pay it? I have my 3 digit confirmation number and have already called USPSA so hopefully it will all work out.

I personally hate when people take forever to load and make ready. Funny thing is around here they are also the ones who walk the stage after every shooter and who rarely help reset or tape. Must be a coincidence?

Max has little chance of winning against the best SS shooters in the nation at a match set up for single stack. Max is naturally a open shooter and as such has little chance against those who shoot iron sights 100% of the time, like Nils, Rob, etc. Big difference between shooting Area 6 or Area 1 and Nationals. Now at the end of the year, it could be a different situation, but right now I would bet he doesn't break the top 5. My pick is Nils or Rob, but I am from AZ and biased .

On my steel gun I have a 6" extremely lightened slide, with a Schuemann Hybrid Comp barrel, c-more Serendipity with a Kidd Blast shield. Went with the 6 over the 5 for the reason of the scope placement. Gun works perfect, doesn't move and will cycle all day at 105pf. The same loads in my 5" open will not cycle the gun. Also am running a Wolff 8# conventional spring.

Shiro is friends with Muneki and only shot airsoft up until about 5 weeks ago. By the way I have seen a .48 on a paper Target in a match at Rio here. He is crazy fast in surrender, but hands at sides is akward at best. He mostly shoots airsoft steel challenge in Japan and rules the game there.

What guns do the top limited competitiors shoot?
AZGunut replied to EngineerEli's topic in 1911-style Pistols
Another thing to ad that as building custom guns, shooters think that when they buy their idea of the "perfect" gun, they will overnight jump up a class or two, which is not the case :-). Shooting the gun you have and sticking with it is worth more than anything. -

I am a Master class Limited shooter and build guns for many GM level Limited shooters. Now take this with a grain of salt, but most top Limited shooters who are full time Limited shooters, shoot full weight (ie mildly lightened slides, long wide frame, bull barrels and a big percentage Tungsten Guide rods) 5" Limited guns. Very few shoot 6" (notably Todd J and Rob, but I don't consider Rob a full time limited shooter) We sell a ton of 6" Limited guns and I have shot one for the past few years, but the 5" gun presents itself so much better to me. When I bring a 5" up to my line of sight, the sights are aligned, when I bring a 6" up, they are very rarely aligned, even after all of the thousands of presentations, to me, trying to fight what is natural hasn't worked so well for me the last few years. I also have been shooting a Caspian Hi Cap and absolutely love it, love a heavy frame with a light fast reciprocating slide combo. To each his own, but if you look at the guns of the top 5-8 Limited shooters, you would be amazed, how basic and how heavy they are! -
Stuart, I have noticed there have been several generational changes. From a side profile of the hammer there have been at least three profiles from very thin "walls" of the square profile to very thick and one somewhat between the two. Not sure if the hooks or angles have changed, but I am sure the weight has. I have guns with the thin and medium profile and the thin one definately has more of a roll feel in DA.

In my humble opinion, buy a stock Shadow,do not even consider anyone else and send it to Stuart. About the same overall cost as getting a czcustom version, but you will get a DA in the low 4# range and a SA that is better than 90% of the open guns. He is the best in the business, period. I love Angus, but hard to compare "factory" to custom.

Hi everyone, I was curious if anyone who has a current generation Caspian Hi Cap frame and a DAA Racemaster holster has had success in getting the two to mate? It seems as if the height of the platform limits it as it hits the bottom of the dustcover. I was thinking maybe it was molded off of the second generation frame and not the current one. Thanks in advance for any help.

Eric, Dave Pruitt designed and builds them to my knowledge. I have shot several different guns with hid comp on them and they ate extremely flat and not violent at all. We are getting a couple in to try.

Johnny is using his custom Para tubes and it is a huge amount of work. I still would rather have a reliable 29 rounds than a somewhat reliable $500.00 32 rounds.

Looking for IPSC nationals
AZGunut replied to shootingchef's topic in Match Announcements - Pistol Only - USPSA, IPSC & Misc.
I could be wrong about the September date, as he was telling us about all of the upcoming matches. I remember July as well. Hopefully someone will chime in soon and set me straight. -

Frank announced it will be held at the Universal Shooting Academy this year at the FL Open awards last night. I believe it will be in Sept but could be mistaken -
That is the fourth Springfield I've seen do that in basically the same spot over the past 3 years. They were all Brazil guns, either mil specs or loaded models. Springfield always took care of them for the customer.

Not sure on a 6", but on a 5" STI unique slide you only lose .3 ounce over a round top slide and most of that weight is from flat topping the slide. More of a cosmetic look than a weight reduction.

Shooters Connection always for me. I have several in different colors to suit my mood. I also use the Ultra as my carry on for major matches. Support those companies that support our sport! -
n my humble opinion, there are only three choices. Cameron's Custom Guns (1st Choice my opinion) Benny at Triangle or Matt Cheely. We all build slightly different platforms but you would be happy with any of the three. By the way our current wait time is 4 months and as usual, no deposit required when you order!
