  1. The best 3 gun belt is the one that doesn't pull my pants down while running. But maybe I need suspenders
  2. I think it's pretty much settled, then. It's impossible for an MD to satisfy the needs/desires of every shooter in a single match.
  3. Maybe, but for me I love the shotgun too, (especially now that I have one that runs). I don't mind optional targets, as long as there is a balance. I DO want to shoot all 3 guns, hell, I'm even up for a sling shot stage. I chose to shoot pistol at some optional targets at the pro am because I know it's faster, IF it's working for me. Sometimes I chose both depending on where the transition fell. But I'm with Austin, reloads need to be part of the game, with all 3 platforms.
  4. I figure I can't take it with me, so why keep track. But then again, all I want is a nickel more than I can ever spend.
  5. Are there really optional targets? Take my .02 for what its worth, because I've barely been in 3 gun for a year, but almost every match I've been in has had an all shotgun stage, some even had all rifle, and all have some combination of 2 or 3 guns. So, if one platform is faster/easier/higher chance for success, is it really optional? Personally, I don't care, I'm there to shoot and have fun, as well as hopefully improve my skills. It's all part of a puzzle to solve and execute the solution.
  6. In a nutshell, planning. You may even have to plan how you load up your caddies. I'm not trying to be facetious at all. This same issue vexed me as well, but I found that if I look carefully at a stage, it will come to me.
  7. Essentially, what I'm trying to say is use your 600 yard holdover at 300 yards. You should group high. You can predict how high it should be by using a ballistic calculator or chart, depending on your load and caliber. If you're there, it's a good starting point for when you encounter 600 yard targets. Write down everything!
  8. You didn't say what size or kind of target. But a 4 MOA target at 300 yards is about 12 inches in diameter. But if you want to simulate a 600 yard 4 MOA target at 300 yards, it's still about 12 inches diameter. See what I'm getting at? Visual aspect is going to be close to same. Another thing to try is shoot 300 yards using 600 yard subtention, and see how it impacts and compare with a ballistic calculator. Hope I made sense...
  9. Because some of us were still running shooters at 7:00PM. In truth, I think the wait would have been more festive and social had the weather cooperated. It's a huge match, considering everything, I still think it went pretty well.
  10. I put a +6 Choate on my son's 870 Express I bought around 1990. It had the dimples. Easy to remove. It works well too. Nordic is on my autoloader.
  11. Nordic is the standard, but Choate will work just fine. Unless you have an older 870, expect to clean up the indentions inside the end of your stock tube for whatever you choose. There are tools available to do this, or just drill them out and clean it up with a half bastard file or Dremel.
  12. I have to add, I'm an M14 fan too. I loved shooting one in service rifle matches. But that rifle was an altogether different beast as well.
  13. I remember my dad telling me that in Vietnam, the units with M14's were badly overmatched compared to the M16 equiped paratrooper units,(this from a guy that started with Garrands and ended his career with M16's). I'm going to go with rate of fire and ammo carring capacity. Other than muzzle device, my AR would work fine as a semi auto working rifle, but could use a better barrel for competition.
  14. Pretty sure Nordic tubes set the standard, and I use them on my autoloaders, but I put an inexpensive +6 Choate tube on my son's 870 Express and it works just fine, if a bt heavier.
  15. Nice video! Thanks, very good with the small details.
  16. Lot's of guys buy a Harley before they get married. Not me, if I ever remarry, I'm buying a 1050 with an autodrive. Besides, the world doesn't need another middle aged bald fat man with a goatee on a Harley.
  17. Seems like a good plan! BTW, the rifle feels good now, don't know any other way to explain it. I just prefer a fixed stock.
  18. I agree with Bryan, I'm a trigger puller. And after all, isn't it a race?
  19. My rifle runs great, but I'm not a fan of collapsable stocks. I'm either thinking of an ACE skeleton stock or Magpul MOE fixed, boh requiring an A1/A2 buffer tube. Will this be an issue with carbine length gas? I lean greatly to the "ain't broke, don't fix" philosophy, so I'm hesitant to swap. Thanks!
  20. Where specifically is a shotgun's taint? Taint chamber and taint mag tube, therefore, "taint" either one.
