  1. Well, that settles it, my JM Pro is now the schizzle hot setup! LOL!
  2. Is this like some sort of import tarriff restriction? Of course I've never heard of it, and on the surface seems silly, as I would think the guns would be compliant upon entry into US. I'm just curious here, not doubting. But I confess there is a lot of silly in some of our Federal statutes. Sorry for the hijack, and if you want to reply, you can PM.
  3. If you really need to go cheap to get started, pick up a used 870 or Nova, install a tube and go. Then save up for an autoloader. And don't pimp out the AR until the shotgun is where you want it. Most AR's are going to run, and won't hold back a beginner, but an unreliable shotgun just takes fun right out of the game. JMHO.
  4. It was probably the most fun 3 gun match of my very short career! Yes, I timed out on some, and it was on my last shooting position. That was mostly inexperience, though. I can't wait for a similar setup, even with the quarter sized kd steel, (could have been my glasses lol).
  5. I like Rotella T with a dab of STP mixed in.
  6. Maybe an over simplification, but I think shoot what you have until you get what you want to be where you want. As for standings in a match, a first year guy isn't IMO going to jump way up or fall way back adding or taking away any optic on anything.
  7. 5" plates? Last time you set out these miniscule-looked like 3" squares- at obscene distances. LOL! Just bustin' your chops!
  8. I think the Stag 3G or Doublestar 3G rifles are great. Add an optic, and you're ready to shoot and have a solid platform to customize for later. But, everyone likes to talk rifle, and show pics of their custom this and that, however plan to spend just as much on your shotgun as your AR WITH optics. Rifle is going to run, cheap shotgun, not so much. JMHO
  9. I'm going to throw this out there. Take off the foam, get real leather baseball ot tennis racket grip tape, and wrap starting past where charging handle rubs. Plus, you can get thickness just where you like it.
  10. And they say we don't need 30 caliber capacity clips....
  11. 60 degrees today, 16 degrees tomorrow. 'Nuff said. At least I got out and played at the clays range today.
  12. Personally, and this is only my opinion, I think the BAD levers and stuff are really cool. But, on my 3 gun rifle, I try for 3 things, simple, simple, and simple. I figure if I've dumped an entire mag at something, my stage is done anyway and a gadget isn't going to bail me out. But, YMMV.

    Chester left town....hmmmm
  14. It's a club level match. Just show up at the lodge 0800 and sign up! There is no online registration for this event that I'm aware of. But come on, it's sure to be fun!
  15. There is a guy here in the States that developed and manufactures a really nice set of 45 deg offsets. I think his name is Dueck. They run about $250.
  16. Buy once cry once all that gunsmith work keeping a 930 running could end up costing you more then the m2. Plus let's face it any that can come up with enough for a 930 or three gun in General can skip a few matches a save the ammo money to upgrade to an m2 or however you want to justify it right? Lol, funny math you have there. There aren't many issues the JM requires paid gunsmithing on, and I'd hate to ask what you pay for shotgun shells that a few matches worth of shotgun shells makes up the difference in price between the JM and an M2? Update on my JM Pro. I had RAS go through it, plus some extra stuff done. Was it worth the cost? Yes. I now have a reliable shotgun that loads like a dream, shoots soft, hits where I point it, and I like the feel of. Was it the best plan of action? Only if it's what you have. But with my experience now, even if I ever get an M2, VM, or even a M3000, I'll be visiting Mr. Rose at RAS. What all did he have to do to get it to run? What extras? does it shoot softer now or was it all for reliability? Reliability, mostly. I don't have an exact list of what all was done, but I believe it involved the shell catch. For serviceability, the lifter was replaced with one from C-Rums, loading port opened up. It really is a sweet shotty now. I'm pretty sure I'm all wet here, but I prefer a beefier shotgun. I'm sure I would like the feel of a VM more than an M2. But that wouldn't stop me from buying a Benelli. Still, I don't think I could in good conscience recommend a JM Pro to someone thinking it's good to run right out of the box. However, with a bit of work, I think it will do just fine.

  18. Should one keep the shotgun mounted when loading weakhand? That's what I do, but don't know if it is correct or even efficient.
  19. The extended mag release helped mine. Probably more a leverage advantage over stock, but it works for me.
  20. This was my first season shooting Steel Challenge. One of the first things I noticed was that almost everyone couldn't transition until they heard an impact on steel. But knowing isn't the the entire battle. BE just gave me a nugget, though, read the sights!
  21. Yep, get some 6 round Choate shotshell caddies to start with and have at it! My son runs an 870. Around here we typically run about 100 rounds of each. More for bigger matches, less for some others.
  22. Similar to what I do. Generally I leave brass if I'm alone at a range other than my home range. At home, I try to pick up mine and pass out brass to others that are trying to recover theirs as well.
