  1. I do not enter the fray of what is best, as I have rumpled enough feelings today, but I will point out that this can continue to gather good input as long as we discuss "firearm reliability"
  2. There are many who would tell you that both will fit, but I won't touch that since I don't know. I would first ask the seller and if you knew the builder you could ask them. If you want to check chamber dimensions yourself, casting the chamber with cerro-safe is fairly easy.
  3. IF nothing else is wrong, might have been a piece of trash in a mechanical bind. I have seen a spent primer flop around in one that tied it up pretty good. If we hadn't been working over a clean bench, we wouldn't have noticed it when it dropped out. Glad it worked out.
  4. The amount of recording time and the frame rate you use is related. The higher the frame rate, the more memory you use. Maybe "data storage capacity" is a better description...... external memory like a stand alone hard drive will work with some models. The issue with zoom is a function of camera control and quality. What are you trying to get? You CAN freeze a license plate or zoom in on a face, but bring your checkbook. Example- I have a camera that can get a picture of a car in the drive and zoom in enough to see bugs smashed on the plate IF the car is parked. If the car is moving at all, the zoomed image is smudged. Is a camera avail that can trap the moving plate clearly? Sure. Does it cost LOTS more than the one I have? YES it does. The cameras and DVRs have come a long way in the last few years, but a great camera still costs. Check in your area for a stand alone security hardware shop. They small shops usually have lots of knowledge because the employees are all involced with products and installations. They can tell you about the subtle differences and more importantly, if they are inclined, They can show you the difference. As far as where you record, The DVR itself can be hidden in lots of places. Inside a cabinet or a pantry are good examples. Remember that it needs ventilation and don't skimp on the power hook up.... No Clark Griswald extension cord setups...... If you take the time to do it right it will work fine. Good luck.
  5. I was only being partialy serious. Anyone with Elmer Fudd as his avatar, and a Mel Tillis quote from Cannonbal Run at the end of each post should be taken with a grain of salt. This should be supplemented by a Terry Bradshaw quote................
  6. If memory serves, his band is called "The Drivers"...... Talented. I saw them years ago. He/They used to play at blues festivals all over. If you get a chance to see them, it is worth it.
  7. With correct sizing, no crimp is needed. Neck tension holds the bullet fine. On that press just leave the station empty.
  8. Don't sweat the numbers if you are turning out good ammo safely. the rate may pick up as you gain experience, then again maybe not. The advertised RPM's are kinda like a machine gun's rate of fire. It assumes that the primer tubes are ready to go, no jams, that kind of thing. Just get a safe set of habits and enjoy. I would rather have 250 rounds of high quality ammo per hour than 300 rounds I wasn't sure about.
  9. If your load shoots like that and you don't see evidence of problems, this question has answered itself.......
  10. I don't think it's a crazy idea. I imagine that u will get better wear than model paint..... have you considered disassembly of the sight to not have to worry about the springs? And have you considered any other finishes?
  11. Reading your original post, I vote gas gun for now. You will have a very versatile set up and and will enjoy it. The accurized bolt gun should/could be a future goal. You will learn much about the potential issues between them by really getting to know your gas gun and its performance. And this is coming from a guy who has one gas gun set up very basic and (censored) (makes me a bit quesy) dollars tied up in several nice bolt guns........ The gas gun can't beat any of the bolt guns in accuracy. But it can hang right with them with all of the attributes already posted.
  12. Go with the special order Blade Tech. Buy once, cry once. She will like it and therefore like the matches more..................... And after you posted 5'3, a buck-ten, with "challenging" geometry, I can't believe people aren't clamoring for photos
  13. I know that opinions on this subject are varied. I lap rings. I even lap high quality rings. Sometimes they hardly need anything. One or two passes will show a uniform pattern and no high spots. That lets me know things are good. Lapping is a good diagnostic tool to check on the whole scope/rings/bases system. The highest quality rings can be not worth much if the bases are no good or if I have made a mistake somewhere else along the line. I have run across mis-aligned factory drilled and tapped holes for the bases in a factory "high quality" rifle. My point is that if I check everything and take away the mechanical variables, I have only myself to blame for failure....... Wait. Maybe I haven't thought this thru.....................................
  14. The Safariland ALS series will do what you ask. The presence of the light does not affect retention at all. The holsters are avail with or without the hood system and have a variety of belt attachment set ups.
  15. What he said....... kokopelli or have a good machinists make u one.
  16. For your size the issues will be correct fit and stance stance stance stance stance......... A semi auto will function fine for you. Spiff034 has a great suggestion. Try several models. Good Luck!
  17. "Jr Johnson" brand moonshine is available in North Carolina ABC stores. Because all the taxes are paid and it went through the state approval process. The charge in this state (and several others) doesn't reference if a Liquor is home brew or not. It is "Possession/Sale/Transportation of Non-Tax paid liquor".
  18. Cocobolo speaks wisely here. And I second the motion to get some N320 and a chrono
  19. You obviously picked up my rifle by mistake..... please return it!
  20. I get great performance out of Dillon's .223 dies, but in other calibers I have used Reddings micrometer seating dies in both a 550 and a 650
  21. Excellent obscure movie reference in title......... Roman Maroni is the man! "knock down dat wall, knock down dat wall and knock down that Fargin wall............."
  22. Sadly, you might be surprised to learn that the vast majority of traffic stops (and really all Officer initiated contacts) are done by a single officer. An officer might request another unit, and most officers will start toward a fellow officer on a stop just to check on him, but for the most part it's just one officer. Some agencies still don't notify a dispatcher about a stop or contact. It can get lonely at times. Some agencies do roll 2 to a car, but agencies that cover the average community get the most bang for their taxpayer buck with single units. A Moore County Deputy here in NC was murdered the same day by a guy wanted on child support warrants. The Deputy encountered them on a Trespassing call and checked to see if they were wanted. One was. When the deputy notified him of his arrest, he drew a hidden handgun and shot the Deputy. He then killed himself. The dynamics of the fight itself are open to guessing, the details haven't been released. EDIT TO ADD: can't speak about VA, but in NC, campus police officers would be state certified and have the same BASIC education as all other Troopers, Deputies and City Officers. Now, the quality of on-going "in-service" training is dependant on the agency. There are state mandated training blocks every year. Some Departments are aggressive about it, some aren't.
  23. I would try Numrich gun parts. Also, I don't frequent it, but I believe that a forum exists just for Enfields and I believe they have "classifieds" section for parts. I believe that it is Enfield-rifles (dot) com Good luck.
