  1. It would help to describe the failure in more detail. And is it mag specific?
  2. Me, I run pistol brass through a tumbler just long enough to get it smooth and get any debris knocked off. I don't go for shine. Then it goes straight into the system....... Rifle brass prep is another story.
  3. The Speer lawman brass case 9 has shot fine in my 9mm's. I have not chrono'd it. Perceived muzzle blast was comparable to recent Fed 115 ball
  4. I should have prefaced this with saying I wasn't planning on buying it! I do love my simple DPMS .308 and I almost have the coin for my JP. My interest was really just wanting the technical details and several folks really came through. It is a strange sensation to look at it but not know the answer to your curiosities. My desire to shoot one and really check it out is high, but at that coin it will need to be somebody else's. Thanks for all the info.
  5. Thanks boomfab....... And Michael it was stickered at $3799.00
  6. I have tried the search bar, no matches...... Calling on Heavy Metal guys and .308 devotees...... Just saw this in person at a local shop. I am assuming that it is the civie version of the HK 417. Anybody shot one or know any details like barrel twist or of the mags are a custom pattern? The staff (not a dig) just didn't know anything about it and wouldn't get out the box or manual for me cause they were swamped. The trigger was very nice..... If I had to guess, I would say that the barrel is hammer forged and chrome lined but I'm betting a forum member knows for sure. This particular model had no barrel markings but it did include the ginormous HK price tag. Thoughts?
  7. I have had to tell myself NO DISCUSSION NO DISCUSSION NO DISCUSSION............. But to Ray, know that in most jurisdictions there is now a computerized pseudoephedrine log that is linked to all pharmacies and reviewed by LEO to try to spot illicit sales (Folks who score lots of pseudoephedrine for cooks are frequently called "smurfs" and the act is "smurfing"). The license scan is part of that. In the most up to date states, your pseudoephedrine totals are usually capped in 30 day window. If you go over, a "No Sale" is ordered to the pharmacy. Regular use for a person, or even two in my state, will not put you over the 30 day total. Meth is huge in your state, I expect that they are linked in statewide. As to the destruction caused by cooks, +100 to all of that. The newest rage is the "one pot method" and the cook, while a lot smaller is much easier. The tactic is spreading like wildfire and, no pun intended, is quite the fire risk. This isn't discussion....... I hate meth cooks too!!
  8. First try making a larger bulb of melted fiber optic on your end. You can make a larger dot pretty easy and no more extra work involved. Several people have found this to work well
  9. How much you need? Shipping restrictions may make it a waste of time but I have some.
  10. I don't know about loading the bullets you ask about, but I was in The Gun Store on Hwy 8 north of Lexington yesterday, and he had a good supply of .40 grain lead bullets. From memory, I think he was asking $29.99 per 500. Not too bad of a drive for you.
  11. +1 to this. As far as the question of who would buy the $500 light, remember that there are people (including some forum members) who go to difficult places and look for difficult people under difficult conditions. These people buy what they need to succeed if it is not provided to them by an agency or branch of service.
  12. I vote get the hand cutter as well. I have one as well as Dillon swager, and if I only need to do a few I always grab the hand cutter first. Even if you end up with a Dillon, you will still use the hand cutter.
  13. I will measure mine in a bit and post for you. Methinks something else might be amiss too. Do you run a shock buff?
  14. Check post #1 again. Sarge, this is a perfect example of why I have no business posting a reply after being awake 19 hours........... Ugh
  15. Sarge, They aren't illegal. Just gotta do your paperwork and cough up the $200 for the tax stamp. I guess that some states or municipalities may have their own rules. Do you have a state law against them there?
  16. I will not try to change anybody's mind on this subject, but they are designed to do things (survive exteme conditions and treatment) that a cheaper light won't do. If you don't need them to do these things, good for you. A less expensive version will serve you well. These lights cost pretty close to what it takes to make them, (including Design, R&D, and custom production) and then turn a profit. I have a few inexpensive flashlights that take normal batteries and they do a good job in most applications. I also have several surefires, both handheld and weapons lights. None of my cheaper flashlights can be depended on to do the job they do and I would not stake my life on any of the cheap ones. The surefire brand is not the only high end light company, but they are an industry giant. My experience with them isn't meant to disparage any particular brand. Use the right tool for the job at hand. This really is comparing apples to oranges. P.S. A full size Streamlight (metal) SL-20 flashlight makes an EXCELLENT impact weapon. And will still work after. edit cause I can't spell tonight
  17. I don't know winlite but I have shot a ton of Ranger (also sometimes labled as "tactical reduced recoil" It shoots ok, but in a reduced recoil round I have found that the Federal "Tru-Ball" flies the best in my guns. One tip would be to call Police Supply stores in your area and find out who pushes Winchester in your area. Then ask them for the cell number for their Winchester rep/salesman. The Company rep (a good one would) will know what is closest to Winlite in ballistics. Good Luck
  18. You shouldn't trust it................ Give it to me
  19. For that application and concern, I say call Ruger. They will sell or give you exactly what you need.
  20. I almost wept at the thought of the world losing a P7................. Hearing that it survived was a relief
  21. Questions.... Do you chamber check your loaded rounds after finishing the process? If the rounds are dimensionally correct and OAL is good, I would next wonder if the chamber is of the correct dimensions. There should not be crud build up in the actual chamber under such a low round count. If you have ever used cerrosafe? I would really want to check that chamber and that would answer that question.
