  1. It's been said before, but stance, stance, stance.
  2. I thought more about what I just typed..... they aren't fine lines, but in between fine and heavy. If you are familiar with traditional Mil-dots, the marks are in the same locations, but in the thickness of regular cross hair wire.
  3. I have both a Nightforce and several Leupolds...... Both are good for what you describe, but if you like the idea of lines, look at the TMR reticle in the Leupolds. The marks are in Mil form but in fine lines.
  4. This does work and is lots easier..................
  5. Badger rings are very well made and I have several Badger products, but I submit that any set of rings will benefit from proper installation. Any part of a scope mounting setup can be off by a small amount when manufactured. Too small to be seen by eye. The highest quality base, rings and scope will be a frustration if the parts as a whole aren't working together. Taking the install in order and checking as you go will payoff in a great mount and good performance. IMHO, lapping rings with the proper tool, will soon confirm if the rings (and any other part of the setup) is true. If it is, great. If not, it can be fixed. Lapping in this instance is a diagnostic tool as well as a fitting tool.
  6. We are all missing the point................. and that is, that gunfixer has the bestest avatar of this whole thread And to stay on topic, I likee the Trojan and the one Kimber 9 millie that I have shot.
  7. First off, no insult intended, but I no understand. The slide stop/release on a 220/226 is almost at the back of the pistol to begin with. What is the point? I do not judge. I'm just curious.
  8. Whatcha gonna do? kinda depends on intended use.
  9. When folded, "toss it in a barrel" is no prob..... when up it is maybe a problem.......
  10. NOTHING is unanimous here................. experimentation is the way for you to find what you want. Just because I run a certain setup doesn't make it best for you. If you know other shooters, ask to try their rigs. Most will be happy to share. Run them under time and see what works for you.
  11. The problem with LEO ranges is frequently they sell the brass as scrap themselves or trade it in. Several Steel Target companies offer credit to Departments that are willing to trade bulk once fired brass. Those places even frown on the officers getting any brass. If the agency doesn't do that, you might be in luck. They probably have some reloaders themselves....... Ask around your local agency. Odds are, someone will help you out.
  12. on a semi related note, the plastic trays that come in the 50 count Speer boxes for .40 and .45 rds fit into .50 cal ammo cans like they were MADE FOR IT. Handy for storage. 1000 rds of pistol fits in a can like it was meant to be.
  13. M1A is a great rifle......... that frequently needs tuning, tweaking, adjusting and animal sacrifices during a harvest moon to get it do what you want. I love my M1A and find it to be utterly reliable. A good choice for zombie apocalypse. It can be a bear as a match rifle though. I have recently delved into the .308 AR world and have found them to be silly simple to tune. M1A gets style points and I will always love them, but I find myself using the AR. If you can, get both.
  14. I have both systems, but in the setup you describe, I would run good rings, lapped and mounted with care. One man's opinion.
  15. Pros of dedicated weapon lights........ Tough, dependable and always were u need it. Cons......... weight and cost. A proper light will survive the dump barrels and getting knocked around. I'm not a fan of exposed wire switches, even a little bit of exposed wire. Murphy is alive and well and the Sumbitch follows me around. That all being said, if it is just for matches, check ahead. They will probably be there like other have said. I vote surefire. I am not commenting on various match rules, but as far as holster options go there are lots of them out there for mounted pistol lights and more are coming out every day. I am not a fan of the TLR streamlights for serious matters. They are not water proof......not even close.
  16. +1 on Tooley and Spencer. I'm not knocking the other guys, I just don't know their work.
  17. As far as the two you listed, I would be happy with either. The 6mm BR DX is smoking hot if the chambering is done right. Think about range and bullet selection as to what twist you want.
  18. Calibers, stocks and action questions will generate more of a debate than Ford vs Chevy........ I advise pick a caliber on intended use or component availability, stocks on intended use and as far as barrels go, I currently favor Kreiger. Having said that, there are many other good ones out there. 6mmbr(dot)com is a good resource for you.
  19. Get some high quality rings, whatever height you need, check the alignment (even pricey ones aren't always right), lap as needed, mount with care and loc-tite then shoot it.
  20. Yes you can shim, and more yes, a better stock is out there for you. I vote diff stock.
