Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. +1 on powdervalleyinc.com. it was cheaper for the n320+ the hazmat fee than it was at the local store. Received it 2 days later as well.
  2. Wow. i guess a little goes a long way. Well, i live in OK so yes we have quite a few COOPs, Tractor Supplys, etc. We will see if they carry it.
  3. So I just go into the feed store and ask for corn cob media? I guess there is only one kind?
  4. Thanks for all of the info. I'll just have to get started and see where the road leads. I just realized this morning that i'll have to be buying a chrono as well. I was looking at what most people recommend and they are $130 up to $575! Crap, this hobby adds up quick!
  5. I really appreciate the responses. So to start out how many powders should I get? I really want to try the N320. I've heard some good things about Solo 1000. Should I add a third or is two enough for now? Or should I try another instead of the S1000? I know there are differing opinions but having a few different opinions is better than no advice/opinions at all. Also, as far as bullets, I was looking at mgs and precision deltas. I saw somewhere that p deltas were dirty and he had to really clean his gun after shooting a match. He didn't say what kind. I'm guessing they weren't jacketed? I'd rather be shooting or reloading or eating or sleeping or... than cleaning. i appreciate you helping a brother out.
  6. Thanks for the help! Yeah, I've read the lyman and speer manuals. I read back through different sections every so often to get it. I'm shooting a G-34. I want to try 115, 124 & 147gr bullets. Thinking of n320, titegroup & solo 1000 only bc I've read some good things about them here. What I'm wanting to accomplish is work up a load(s) that will work well for competition & save a little change. Also I just want to have fun working up & trying out different loads. Reloading sounds fun.
  7. So I'm looking to get started reloading very soon. I have a Lyman and Speer reloading manual. My question, which is very elementary, is can I substitute another brand bullet for what is in one of the manuals? Can I use a 124gr MG FMJ RN instead of a 124gr Speer TMJ RN? I'm sure that I can but I figure I should ask. Also, what about primers? Both of my manuals use CCI 500s. Should I just stick w/those? Whats the difference in using those insead of some other brand? Thanks for answering my basic questions.
  8. (If this would fit better in another forum, feel free to move it) We are having our fam reunion in July and have decided to have a pistol match. I'm the only one that has ever shot competitevely and i'm just a rookie myself(5 matches I believe and C class). I think we will keep it to 2-3 stages, somewhat simple but fun. Any ideas of some stage set ups? Also, we are keeping score. There will only be around 10-15 of us competing and therefore we will have no divisions. My question is what is a simple scoring system that is factored on time and accuracy? I would say what is a simple scoring system that uses time, accuracy and takes caliber into consideration but that would be USPSA's scoring system. Also, i'm sure we will have some revolver shooters. How would we score them so that they could be competitive w/the autos and therefore have a good time? I don't know. I just want us to all have fun and be able to know who the winner is. All ideas are greatly appreciated!
  9. Rookie here. Why are you running 4grns instead of 4.2 in your 34?
  10. I have a friend that lives in Danbury that is very new to shooting. He's only shot twice in his life and that was when he came to visit me here in OK. He really liked it and is becoming interested in shooting and USPSA. I was just wondering if there was anyone on here that knew of any good beginner classes close to Danbury and if there are any matches close as well. Let me know!
  11. I've been to four matches (shot in 3) and I don't think that I've seen anyone using an H&K. Why is that? Just wondering b/c I'm trying to get my brother to start shooting matches and he has a H&K USP .45.
  12. Pretty cool but I'd rather be outside. Somebody spent a ton of $ building the place. I wonder if it is govt owned. It wouldn't suprise me if it is since its in Europe. I agree w/Graham that I'm impressed that it even exists. Most European countries aren't big on their civilians having guns are they?
  13. A couple of weeks ago I was somewhere on this forum and I came across a clip of Brian shooting two steel plates in something like .96 seconds. I can't for the life of me find it now. I've done advanced searches and gone through a lot of pages. Can someone help me out? I just gotta watch that again and I was going to show some other people too. It's too awesome! Nevermind. I just found it!
  14. Yeah, you got me too. That song better not get stuck in my head! Why is it that the songs you don't want stuck in your head do?
  15. That's awesome! How did you get started? What type of range do you currently have? How is it laid out? When you say, "commercial" what exactly does that mean? Sorry to bombard you w/questions but I'm very interested and trying to learn all that I can from others that are doing what I'm thinking about doing.
