  1. It depends on why he's stopped. If the competitor stops himself, meaning he says "I'm done", score the COF. If he's stopped by the RO it could be score the COF or reshoot depending on the scenario.
  2. Good point! I'll try to break stages down mathematically next month.
  3. I shoot stages in the order that makes the most sense to me. I probably could learn a lot by experimenting but I shoot this 4321s for 2 reasons. First, I like to draw to a close plate. Second, I like to transition the same direction as much as possible. Shoot 'em in a row and back to stop.
  4. Except for the very worst cases, I find other 9mm guns I own will chamber and cycle my bulged rounds just fine. Recheck the rounds that don't pass the tight chamber with another. If they work, label them for that gun. My FN will run 99% of the rounds that won't fit the XD, Walther, or Witness.
  5. My handloads smoke a little. The only time I've switched up shooting order was in a bay where the sun and wind caused the smoke to drift into my line of sight and interfere a little. Shot targets downwind to upwind that stage that day.
  6. New rulebook specifies same ready condition as USPSA divisions. Hammer down or safe action trigger in production, cocked and locked for SA/1911 types.
  7. We had a stage similar to this today. Makeups on steel were allowed on the first mag. Makeups on paper were only allowed after the mandatory reload otherwise it would, or could, be stacking. Only extra shots at paper before the reload were to be assessed procedurals.
  8. If any of your brass has come from USPSA, where 9 major is not uncommon, you will need the U die. I have loaded for both XD and Witness and they were tighter chamber guns, rejecting roughly 5% of my reloaded rounds due to bulged brass.
  9. I load 124 grain plated bullets with 4.4 Universal and achieve similar PF in the always cool NW.
  10. Just beat me to it. Great minds think alike!
  11. Are you perhaps measuring one set with a full shellplate and another with rounds seated turret style? That could be the difference.
  12. In the crowd I shoot with I wouldn't be surprised if the whole squad yelled stop if someone was about to shoot between his knees or feet. Safety above all else. Since he was committing the FA, zero for the stage.
  13. Please notice my profile picture, featuring my daughter and her beef. She won senior showmanship in that picture even though she was only a sophomore at the time. We love our cattle and shooting sports. She shoots trap, I shoot USPSA and SC.
  14. Keep in mind USPSA safety rules are more restrictive than most other venues. You must learn and practice those safety rules and even then you will likely commit a DQ offense at some point. Have fun and be safe. I agree with the Blade-Tech DOH. That's what I run. I can't help with the left hand thing. The world is designed for those of us programmed correctly!
  15. Find your new COAL, reduce your load by 5%, and work back up with the chrono. 125 is kind of low, most run in the low/mid 130's.
  16. This might sound odd but consistency is more important than accuracy. Meaning my drops might be 3.77 instead of 3.75 but they are the same every time. Don't overweigh, just get an average and go!
  17. The reasoning is correct. All else being equal, I'll go L to R (right handed). I've see a blatant 180 DQ by a right handed shooter facing left and turning the gun left to reload.
  18. Heavier, slower bullets recoil softer. Some guns don't like slower bullets. My P99 keyholes sometimes, and I've heard M&P's don't group so well. I shoot 125 and 135 grain Bear Creek moly bought from a local shooter who is a distributor.
  19. Moly usually smokes worse with faster powders so the HP38 might be preferable.
  20. My first shot is always double action so I try to plan the closest shot first as much as possible.
  21. Sometimes I practice this without a gun. Focus on a point as the target. I bring my hands from drawing position together, then up to my line of sight. I visually focus on my thumb as I press out. It's exercise for my eyes, and reps of what I expect from my focus and draw motion. At steel last week I was sometimes breaking shots before finishing my press out due to quick sight acquisition.
  22. I like to compare my raw points and points after penalties to the match winners (in production). My accuracy should be comparable even if my time is not. The speed will come with practice and experience. Accuracy must be maintained through-out.
  23. I made my own knobs. Purchased from the hardware store: threaded straight stock (same size and thread as retention screws), small washer, threaded knob. Measure and cut stock, loc-tite into the knob. Kydex is soft and scratches easily so use a washer under the knob.
  24. Since your problem stems from anxiety and over thinking working on mental focus seems to be the logical step. Try to focus only on the sight and break the shot a little more slowly. Let it "surprise" you. Trust your fundamentals and don't worry about grip, stance, etc.
