  1. I don't shoot in the rain and I also don't shoot in the FL summer heat. The upcoming A6 match is pretty much the end of my shooting season until September. Though this year we are going down to Jamaica in July to shoot the Jamaica Cup.
  2. Win SMP, MG 121 IFP, 7.5gr WAC, 1.168 - consistent 176pf and works my comp very well. No ppl holes.
  3. Running RTS2 on two open guns. As reported had one hickup in the fall and there were both sent back. No problems since and I am quite happy with them. The current generation seems ready to go in my opinion.
  4. If the RO see's it dangling on the cable, it's a clear REF. If in the heat of the moment the shooter pops it again and it falls there is not much to talk about.
  5. You do need to activate the swinger, even if it's after you're done shooting because according to 9.9.3, "Moving scoring targets will always incur failure to shoot at and miss penalties if a competitor fails to activate the mechanism which initiates the target movement." I'm not saying this necessarily makes sense...but that's how I'm reading 9.9.3... Winner, winner, chicken dinner.
  6. N330 really? Haven't seen any N330 in a while. That was my favorite powder when I was shooting 9mm Production a few years back.
  7. Feel free, nothing personal either way. Good shooting!
  8. My wife runs the Manny Bragg magnetic and likes it a lot. If you don't use the optional thigh pad, it will hardly touch her leg at all.
  9. 8.6.4 is subjective. The RO may offer a reshoot - which assumes the RO determines if the external influence qualifies for a reshoot. From the original post, the shooter paused and was then instructed to continue. To me, the fact that he was instructed to continue (by the RO?) after a pause, is enough to offer the reshoot after a quick discussion with the shooter and before the time is announced. As a timer RO focused on the gun, I probably would not have seen the swinger self-destruct and would rely on the scoring RO to call the REF if they saw it and thought it applied. 4.6.1 not sure I agree that it applies here since the shooter engaged the target before it failed which in my opinion meets the fair & equitable standard. At a match, I call it as I see it and the the shooter has the right to appeal to the RM - that's why they are there. At a major match I don't have time for a rules discussion as the squad times are very tight and delays turn into bottlenecks which nobody likes. Um, a rules discussion is your job, your obligation as an RO. If you don't know the rules, sure, that is what the RM is there for. Remember this? Range Officer's Creed<snip> Nowhere in your lengthy creed post does it say a rule discussion is part of my job. I make the call fairly and impartially based on my interpretation of the rules and explain that to the shooter. If you disagree, you are welcome to take it up with the RM, it's nothing personal...but we are not going to hold up shooters and have a rules 'discussion' while I am running a squad. That's my RM's job.
  10. It's my understanding that the original poster is looking for a single stack 1911...the Edge is a double stack. BTW, Dawson's SA CRP RO looks like a good deal! Your right...brain misfired.

  12. Of those choices I would go with the STI. If you want an STI though, I would upgrade to the Edge. Personally, I shoot a Les Baer UM in single stack - were I to replace that about the only other thing I would consider would be the Edge.
  13. Thanks Darren. I will pass that on.
  14. Hey all, I have a friend in Minneapolis who is interested in getting introduced to USPSA shooting. Can anyone provide me with contacts/clubs that I can put him in touch with? I know when I started, having a active supportive club made all the difference. Thanks! -Dan
  15. I wrote Rick a couple of years ago about the sticking from the MBF dropper/expander on my 1050 and here is his response...I switched back to the Dillon powder drop and no problems since. _____________ "Be sure your shellplate is adjusted to have minimum play but still be able to index properly. An excessively loose shellplate will aggravate the tugging… especially on the 1050 due to the larger diameter of the shellplate vs a 650. You can also simply use the tapered Dillon powder funnel if you use and properly adjust the Dillon swage back up rod when reloading. (even if not swaging the brass primer pockets). The swage back up rod has an expander step that is similar to the one on the MrBulletfeeder powder funnel. Alternatively… if not swaging, you could also try installing a Lyman M-Die in the swage position. The M-Die is a case mouth expanding die that is adjustable for depth of expansion. I hope this helps. 16. I have been DQed and I have DQed people...its no fun regardless of which side of the timer you are on. You did right to stay until the end and help paste, etc. At the FL state championship match in January I DQed a shooter for pointing his gun at me (I was uprange). No apology which irked me a bit but whatever...anyway I noticed he sat on the bench for the rest of the match and played with his phone - apparently he needed to catch a ride with another shooter. Don't be that guy.
  17. Just a thought....Under the stress of the timer, your grip might not be the same as when you are training.
  18. I ran stage 7. It was deceptively difficult because it offered so many ways to shoot it and it sucked you in because it looked so easy. Chris Tilley shot the whole stage from the back line in 16 and change, but if you look at the match results there was a crazy amount of penalty points on that stage.
  19. Looked good Nick. I was the CRO on stage 7.
  20. I have an Oehler P35. Bought it used a few years ago and it does the trick. I have been watching the LabRadar pretty closely since it was shown at SHOT last year and if the production model is every released and it works as advertised, I will probably pick one up.
