  1. Ted, what's more ridiculous- requiring 50 posts or allowing someone to join and post classifieds on the same day? This is self protection for the community. Scammers are a lazy lot. In ant event, when you answer you will be one post closer.
  2. My experience with living and shooting in Florida, USPSA shooting is pretty ethnically diverse with probably the most welcoming group of folks anywhere.
  3. I have been wearing these for the last year. Zero drop, which is great for my PF and a foot shaped toe box which accommodates my wider foot. I wear one size larger than my dress shoe. https://www.altrarunning.com/men/superior-30
  4. I would call that a malfunction during the COF. 5.7.6 allows the RO to terminate the COF due to the malfunction in which case it is scored as shot. Then the malfunction can be cleared off the clock.
  5. Welcome Will! I know Thunder Bay well. Had an annual fishing trip up to Armstrong in the 70's-80's with my dad and brother. My wife and I were up there a couple of years ago visiting Kakabeka Falls. Enjoy the forum! Ton's of great info here.
  6. I had 3 years on a Forcht driven 1050 before I picked up the Mk7 Pro with all the sensors. The Forcht was a big step over pulling the handle and it worked well and long as you stayed within it's limitations. I don't have experience with Ammobot, but I would expect the same results. The Mk7 Pro however is beyond amazing and the Swage Sense sensor alone is worth the $$. Sure it took a bit of fiddling to get it running perfect for my 9 major loads as well as a few extra parts - F&F shellplate, delrin detent ball, zip ties and I certainly agree with the above poster - your press needs to run perfectly before you automate or you are going to have a lot of issues. On my Mk7 with the machine speed at 2100 and my dwell times set, I get a true 1800 per hour production rate with very little powder spillage. The only issue that ever comes up is the occasional bullet topple which has been address with their new Bullet Sense - can't wait until I receive mine. My biggest challenge now is components. ;-)
  7. Go to JP's website and build out different configurations with their rifle builder tool. There are not many options on the GMR-15 which are not cosmetic. 14.5 vs 16 barrel, thermal dissipator or not, which stock option, etc.
  8. Bullet Sense started shipping this week. What's the issue? Quality company, best in class products and amazing customer service. New product delays is not something to bitch about.
  9. I run the EGA die on my Mark 7 powered 1050. I also run the F&F shellplate. When running at speed using the EGA and have nearly 100% perfect primer insertion. Without the EGA, I experienced to many crushed primers. I believe the EGA stabilizes the case in this instance. For non-automated presses, I don't think it would make much difference. Not worried at all about a primer detonation with the EGA in place. Wouldn't be any different in a detonation on a case that was not properly deprimed. This happened several times on my old Frocht driven machine.
  10. 100% of my brass is range pick-up. First it is cleaned, then run through a CasePro and then sized & deprimed. Most bad brass is caught in this process. Finally when I load, every round is gauged in a Shockbottle hundo gauge which is tighter than my chamber. My ammo runs 100%.
  11. I like this set-up for a hero mount. It's much closer to the bill of the hat.
  12. JP had a booth at the Optics Nationals and I asked them about this since I have a 15 on order as well. I was told that the 15 just went into production last week so hopefully it won't be long for those of us who ordered early.
  13. You have to be careful with this. The double plugged maybe non-english speaking shooter could mistake your words as a make ready command. Sometimes the shooter will volunteer information like this, but I never ask for it. It's a good practice to stick with the range commands.
  14. Absolutely! Dan Bernard was my mentor when I was learning to run the clock and he taught me that it's not a race to the finish. RO's have the advantage of angle to see what they need to see, the shooter is still under voice control if needed and you know where and when the shooter is going to finish the COF. I just shake my head when I see RO's who are in a footrace with the shooters. To the OP, there is nothing better then experience behind the timer. You're going to miss things because you have tunnel vision focus. Hopefully the scorekeeping RO is in position to help you out. Over time, you eyes and brain are simply able to process more information and you "see" a lot more. Don't be a dick to your fellow shooters, know the rules and enforce them to the best of your ability. Again, you are going to make mistakes, your going to have some calls overruled by the RM so don't take it personally, and your probably going to have a loaded gun pointed at you at some point. When it's all said and done, HAVE FUN! My wife and I work a lot of matches because we like it and this has evolved into a worldwide extended shooting family that we wouldn't trade for anything.
  15. We invest in guns, gear, reloading equipment, match fees and so on for our sport. Invest a weekend and maybe some travel/hotel expenses and become a certified RO. I will make you a better competitor and squad mate if nothing else. I traveled to my first RO class because there was not one near when I wanted to take it and I don't regret it one bit.
  16. I roll size everything I shoot. Ammo problems are non-existent.
  17. Yep! I pick it up, clean it up and sell the 38 Super and SC off for $110/M. It's a nice tip for working major matches. Personally, I shoot 9 Major and have never bought brass in my life.
  18. I run WIN SPM exclusively in my 9 major loads. No problems at all.
  19. After my first press, my next purchase was an RF100. The RF100 and later the MBF is the best money I ever spent.
  20. Why Federal? I run WSPM for my 9 major. Have never tried anything else.
  21. Best range shoe I have had to date. Altra Superior 2.0 Zero drop, wide toebox.
