  1. In the first half of the videos, your strong hand thumb was just floating out to the side. Then the second half, the thumb was where it should be (down on the support hand). Make the shots count to avoid extra shots and running the gun dry, it plays havoc with your stage planning. As said earlier, watch that trigger finger. Saw extra shots at the plates, does your loads group well? (looks like you're shooting an M&P)
  2. I got me a CasePro to roll size first, it does the rim too, then load. Now I don't have any problems with brass being shaved when sizing. For a small fee I can roll size your brass
  3. My used spring was still longer than, by almost an inch, the new spring of the same weight rating. Found out the old spring was brand W and the new spring is brand I. Different manufacturers have different lengths of the same weight rating springs. I know, apples and oranges...got to compare lengths with the same brand springs. Just saying you could also try different brand springs of the weight you settle on.
  4. Last week at a electrical fire training class I spoke with one of the presenters who is a metallurgist (sp?) and he knew about cartridge brass (70% copper/30% zinc). He was telling me when the price of copper went up, he believes the amount of copper in cartridge brass went down (to save money). Typically cartridge brass is 70/30. Also, he told me he would not polish the brass and if I wanted shiny brass to use new brass.
  5. Try and check the grip in the area of the trigger guard. There is a recess in the frame that this section needs to sit in. Might need to trim that area to get it to fit in that recess.
  6. I think I found what is causing my hammer to follow is the disconnecter is not popping back up after the slide cycles. Took my gun apart last night and when I pressed down on the disconnecter, it felt gritty and did not pop up all the way.
  7. Even without glasses I can see it's 2A
  8. Had this happen to me too last week and the advice I got was to add a little more bend to the left leg of the sear spring. I'll see if that fixed it this Sunday.
  9. You think dogs will not be in heaven? I tell you, they will be there long before any of us. ~Robert Louis Stevenson That's so they will be there waiting to greet us at the door. Sorry for your loss.
  10. At least you came out to shoot and your equipment worked fine. I too had some non-focused moments of shooting that day. Get it out of the way now and come Las Vegas in October, you'll rock
  11. I'm gonna try the Hodgdons CFE 223 powder.
  12. very neat, wish I could do that
  13. Are you making major pf with that load? On the failures to feed, are the rounds nose down, nose up or jammed into the feed ramp? When they are stuck in the chamber, is it a fired case? or a loaded round? I would try jacketed hollowpoints instead of plated bullets in an open gun setup. I've just gotten a Lee U-die for 9mm since some of the brass I have were fired in Glocks. As for picking up range 9mm brass, you might want to make a note if the problems you are having involve a particular brand.
  14. This is NOT the dopiest thread ever to grace this fine forum. can't use the popcorn eating emoticon in fear of contracting pop corn lung
  15. Everything what he said . Times like this, I wish I lived in an Area 1 state Had a great time at the 2012 match.
  16. It'll all fit. I used 10.6 gr of N105 with a Zero 121 jhp loaded to 1.230 and made major (170pf). This was in my Millennium Custom gun with two holes in the barrel. But, gotta slow down on the loading as the powder gets flung out of the case if you go too fast. Don't use it now because it's too expensive at 10.6 gr per round, the powder hopper needs refilling often and the mess it was causing from all the powder being spilled out adds up. Try it and see if you like it.
  17. Try using a different slide release as some have the 'bump' a little more forward and you'll be able to slingshot the slide from slide lock.
  18. I'm not even a senior yet (3 more years) and I don't expect to finish at the top as I don't practice enough to get to the top. As I get older, my goal will change to something like shooting to be top senior or something like that. Just being realistic. I would shoot in a senior/super senior only match (but still refuse to sign up for AARP ) AND I would still shoot in some of the big major matches too. Shooting with younger shooters and better shooters make me try a little harder. For me, the biggest expense is traveling to these major matches (price of living in paradise I guess). Best of all, there are still big matches with small entry fees. Some of these matches are way better than some of the majors. Two I can name are: Area 1 and Double Tap. Shooting is better than working
  19. keep an eye on your tranny and egt
  20. My wife says she is 5 ft but I say she is 4 ft 11 1/2 and 97 pounds. She drives my GMC 2500HD (when I let her) it has power seats so it can get closer and higher to the steering wheel, also drives a Ford Escape (work vehicle) and her daily driver is an Acura TL. Some vehicles have brake pedals that adjust in height.
  21. Good for you. I've thought of doing that for my Duramax but diesel is over $5.00/gal here and I would have a hard time staying off of the go pedal.
  22. Mostly it does make a difference. It's a personal choice to have the holes but once they're drilled, its there to stay. I shot without holes for a long time and a few years ago got a new open gun with a couple of holes. Had to up my powder charge to make major and it was a little more "violent" but the dot didn't move as much as without the holes. My scope needed a blast shield to protect the lens, blast shield was really pitted from all blast from the holes. My new gun I got last year, I stayed away from the holes and once I got use to the recoil I'm just as fast if not faster and don't have to put up with the extra blast. I believe the side ports have to do with the side to side movement Your loaded round looks a little short. If you load longer you can/have to put more powder to make major and thus have more gas for the comp.
  23. HI5-O

    Stages

That's because you can drive there Good thing my wife is traveling with me, she can carry my extra ammo on the plane
  24. I would wait until the comp is back on securely and then see if the bullets are still tumbling. Then I would try different powders before cutting on the comp. After that, maybe you can have someone else fire the gun and see what it looks like and what the shooter says.
