  1. Welcome to the forum
  2. I've been running the DAA Standard Thumb rest on my STI .40 I like the way it feels and allows for a firm placement for my left thumb. Does anyone ells have one?
  3. Depends on your mounting solution ( standard or 90 deg).
  4. Short open gun....... Has anyone noticed the picture of the short open gun located on the SVI home page?? It's the one pictured next to a computer screen ( link to their photo gallery). I do belive that it's a 5" with a ported Shueman barrel and a slide mounted optic...seems to fit the bill
  5. I'm in the process of selling a bunch of my guns.......50 cents on the dollar is the going rate for "used" guns.
  6. Well, once I get my new pistol, I'll go through my STI mag collection and see how many (if any) work for me. I'll get some SVI mags anyway.....just to be sure that I'm covered. New gun should get her some time towards the end of 2013.
  7. Just got the courage to get myself an SVI gun!! I figure its going to be my last one.......so do it. As for STI mags going into an SVI grip......its yes and no. Here's the answer provided for me by Brandon at SVI. "I have seen STI magazines used in our billet grip pistols. The only issue I have seen is the diameter of the tube through the magazine release window is bellow spec." "Therefore I would check the measurement of the diameter of the magazine tubes through the magazine release window. A measurement using callipers just bellow the window will offer an accurate enough measurement." " They can be easily adjusted to an increesed diameter by a slight squeeze front to rear to increese the the magazine release window. The diameter of the magazines should be .925-.935 inches" I hope that this helps
  8. I'm just about to drop the hammer on getting an SVI gun. Up here in Canada ( yes, we can own guns )a $3500 gun turns into a $5000 gun once you add taxes and importation fees! So I've choosen a gun with "minimal" bells and whistles gun ( using SVI's Gun Builder)and it'll run me around $4600 by the time I get my mitts on it.....but it'll be my last gun.
  9. Tungsten......a great 2 piece EGW guide rod and a 14 lb spring work great for me
  10. All (3) of my current STI guns have SVI Tri Glide Packages along with SVI Extended Firing pins and their great Hammers. The reason I went this route is that I wanted everything to work together. Plus I can source all my goodies in one spot.
  11. Ouch! Been there and done that.
  12. Aw Crap! Best thing is to try and get more range time ( away from them) for your own sanity.
  13. Of course the best way to use dummy rounds is to randomly load them in your mags with live ammo. This accomplishes two things... 1. its a flinch exercise ( to cure it) and 2. are you watching your sights when the trigger breaks? Just say'n
  14. I work on my grip strength by doing open palmed push ups. The idea from my Yoga instructor. ;-) I guess it's a Ying and Yang thing.
  15. I've got both on my STI Eagle. ( .40) Lightned slide for quicker cycling and a Tungsten guide rod to keep the muzzle down :-)
  16. If you can.......try before you buy. However, verrrrrry few people once they go 2011 go back ;-)
  17. Well none of my STI's have factory trigger components. I use SVI components ( their complete Tri Glide package is amazing!!)simply because they have a great variety of goodies to choose from. Have fun with your gun! Ciao.
  18. Thanks for rolling over my profile page.

For a holiday gift I've maxed you rating.

Good luck on the 2011 season.

    Ciao.

  19. Hello and thanks for rolling over my profille page.

    By the way...Seasons Greetings.

    Ciao.

  20. Long time no hear.

    By the way ....Seasons Greetings!

    Ciao.

  21. Well, I don't have much of a choice as far as magazine capacity on this side of the border. But I use STI Mags with Gramms springs and followers. Ciao.
  22. I suspect that we all have a ritual that we all go through on the way to the range. Mine involves getting a Tim Hortons large double double and a Breakfast sandwich for the trip. (my fellow Canadians can explian it to you ) But I do agree with the consensus on this string...a little goes along way! Ciao.
  23. How are you and your new STI noise maker making out these day?

I'm going Old School Open for 2011.

I'll be rocking an STI with SVI components in good old .45...damn kids and their 9MM Major....HA.

    Ciao.
