  1. Will it work with the JP light weight carrier???
  2. The people doctor told me to quit shooting, yeah, thats going to happen. The ring does give me the occasional headache but seems to help the hand pain go away. There is no sharp edge, its internal joint pain. Jim answered just as I had figured that he has heard of this and can fix it.
  3. I have a finger and knuckle pain problem I have not seen addressed. When I practice and shoot +600 rds. a week with my SVI limited gun my strong hand middle finger knuckle hurts & swells and the pain radiates into my finger and top of hand. The grip has been shaped for a high hold with small hands but I can't tell if its from recoil or the pulling apart of the knuckle due to the big grip and finger angle on the limited gun grip, It could even be from reloads stressing my knuckle, or draws? I don't have this problem with a singlestack or Glock. I want to get this figured out before I go Open. My next course of action is a grip job by Jim Shanahan as from what I have seen of his work he is the grip doctor.
  4. Just get a couple more 10 round mags and enjoy. You are not handicapped that bad with a short gun and the thing you need most now is practice. Any practice you do with your short singlestack gun will pay big dividends down the road, and you can run with the best on short range -30yd. stages. Shoot lots of different guns as my bet is you will want to go to an Open gun or at least a SVI/STI Limited gun in the near future. I wnt from L10 to Limited, now I wish I would have gone straight to Open.

    HELP

My 45 singlestack needed some feedramp polishing to work with Zero JHP's, the ramp had to be moved about .050" forward as rounds were catching the lip, this only happened with CMC 10rd.mags not Wilsons. I would have thought a Wilson would feed anything you stuffed in the mag? If you can get the JHP's to feed I found them incredibly accurate in all my guns, if not the company should make good.
  6. I hope lots of Glock shooters listen to you, as the only time I get to kid them about their tupperware jamming is when the mags are full of sand and goop.
  7. Sorry about that, I was at work when I typed that. MSDS was about 8 feet away.
  8. Rhino I hate to tell you but you need to read the MSDS on lead, lead fulmate, and all the other combustion nasties in loaded-fired rounds, those "salts" will re-depost themselves on any and all items in the dishwasher. By the way most "high quality" stainless steel will still corrode when dishwasher clean. Your case polisher will work great.
  9. Back to the Original tread......... You will find an 18-20 inch rifle with a full length gas system and a Cooley or Benny Hill comp works great, and is softer-faster to shoot than a lighter carbine with its more agressive gas stroke. Plus the added sight radius is a plus in limited configuration The JP aluminum carrier is the shit for "competition" as it reduces the recoil impulse when paired with a JP Coolie comp to just about nothing and allows much faster accurate shooting. The optic will put you in tactical class, but that is now the largest and fastest growing class at my local club anyway as its pulling in Tac-3-gun and IDPA guys. With a flattop and a rail gas block you can switch classes at your leasure. By the way you CAN build a postban rifle with a "removable brake" using nonstandard I/E no flashhider will fit thread profiles. Tactical is whatever kills the badguys the fastest, I/E Tactical nukes???
  10. Just saw a gun by Deric with Millennium Custom 2 that was done in Black Tungsten Carbide or Titanium nitride that was sweet, it had a nice mat finish to cut down glare. I am a fan of hardchrome due to its wear resistance and lubricity but I think my next gun will be gray or black.
  11. Dillon has always treated me great. My bet is they will clean, lube and replace any unservicable parts as needed. Any time I have called or walked in while in Phoenix for a broken or wornout part they have just given it to me no questions asked, I did pay shipping.
  12. If your under 6'1" or so try a plain old A1 stock. They are not the trickest setup but that 5/8" shorter old stock sure works well for many while moving, sitting or standing. I like A1 stocks for my 3-gun and SHTF AR's, and an A2 for my highpower rifle.
  13. Every rifle is different, after doing barrel work try it out with chosen ammo and some surplus blaster ammo also, Depending on where your gas setting is you may need to open the port up a drill size at a time to where your gas setting is right. Remember the gas port is fairly large to start with to compensate for gummed up rifles in battle settings. It is easy to make a hole bigger but real hard to make one smaller.
  14. Sell it and buy a softer-faster gun like a Browning/Winchester or the good old 1100.
  15. It just depends on what shoots best for you and your gun, the timer tells the tale.
  16. Considering how far south you are, do they call you a Yankee? I can say this as I married one.
  17. This is one I want to see an answer to, as I have the same problem.
  18. If you go to the Turner sling websight they have pics and instructions on how to set up a Highpower sling, the sling puts lots of pressure on your hand, thus the glove. Sorry dont have a link just search for Turner rifle slings.
  19. Bevan's new spring/follower format has set the new standard. They are worth every penny.

I just wish it was monthly.
  22. Tempting to fly home for a match. But with nine stages and only 225 rounds it just does not seem worth the trip, unless the stages involve a ton of movement then it may be a kick to run around the New Mexico desert?
  23. I have had good luck with the orange practice rounds from S.T. Action Pro. S.T. Action Pro They have pistol and shotgun rounds that are plastic hulls with a brass base and a plastic primer insert. Not sure of cost as they gave me a few at a match, they are both IPSC shooters.
  24. Josh Halfman with Halfman Custom Handguns. Halfmans Custom Handguns He is set up for paypal now also. It is a machined hollow titanium rod threaded and secured onto a machined steel base. I believe its $35 plus $3.85 shipping to the east coast. The titanium was weird, when I first put it in it hummed when you would cycle the gun by hand even coated with slide glide, after 400 rounds it has burnished out and is now quiet and smooth.
  25. Wow actual advice from BE what more could I ask for. Well the weight reduction is done. Changed from a 1,200 grain Wilson Tungsten guide rod to a Halfman Custom hollow titanium rod that weighs a whole 320grains. It is a nice piece of work. Changed from a 900grain steel mainspring housing to a stock SVI plastic that weighs almost nothing. Changed from a heavy brass Dawson ICE magwell to an Aluminum ICE. Changed from a 54 grain steel hammer strut to a 28 grain STI titanium strut. And the big change a 41 grain steel mainspring cap to a 16 grain STI Titanium cap. The gun has a completly different personality. On draws after I got used to feeling of almost throwing my gun at the plate rack I was faster on draws at 10, 20 and 30 yards. Plates at 7, 10 and 20 were faster on avg. Transitions seem to be speeding up, we will see at the match in the morning. Reloads seem quicker and it is easyer to move while shooting as the gun does not bounce as much. Didnt have any targets handy for billdrills, but the added recoil does not seem to hurt seeing my front sight, this is still a long dustcover gun. Time and practice will tell.
