  1. I have found Wilson 8 rounders to be the most reliable mags in all the singlestacks I have ever owned. It sure helps to have that 1 extra round and reload a hot gun vs waisting the time to load from lock.
  2. I hope you mean .080" longer and not .8". For .8" you are talking long action. How long are your rounds? I have found better accuracy with my M700 using 175SMK's loaded .017 shorter than the A-Max my remy didnt like anyway. For .080" try some more loads. Setting the barrel back a turn or two is a popular option as many factory rifles have way long throats. An AICS chassies has a longer mag, dont know about Badger bottom metal?
  3. He is back, check the last CFRPC results. Got married quit shooting, divorce and starting again. You may want to talk with him?????
  4. And I have this sexy gun just sitting in my safe
  5. Dawson Precision makes them in about 4 widths. I like the .100" serrated in red.
  6. Great I have a gun built by Dan and worked on by Paul I guess it must be my fault I'm not shooting GM scores. Paul; I have an old 1/2" double ended 4 flute carbide tipped titanium nitride coated endmill that I probably used to mill up a shuttle hubcap or something you can have to put under your pillow if you must. It didn't rust in Seattle so I doubt your drooling on it will hurt it, just dont chuck it in a mill and expect it to work for you. By the way my Bedell 9mm major shortie open gun has never had a DB or Paul induced hiccup, and shoots tiny little groups at 50 yards after tens of thousands of rounds.
  7. This is good?? The artist/gunsmith/machinist/yankee/biker looking guy calling the clean cut/GM shooter that speaks perfect english, a hick?? Did I order a gun I don't remember?
  8. Tried several and the best of the bunch under a grand is by far the Leica 1200 scan, picked one up on ebay for under $500. PS if you go over to snipershide you will find some great reviews with pics.
  9. Thank you. Squading done, hotel reservation made, flight planned, I guess its time to practice.
  10. Ok, your off days are better than my on days, the altitude would have left me gasping for life. Dot???? what dot all I see is moving big black spots . I feel best when I am pressurizing a plane sitting on the ground, sealevel +5 PSI is about right. I can sprint at sea level, but at 12K I want ropes and climbing spikes, with a belay thats not ready to pass out like I almost did on top of Mt Baker. It sounds like I need to come down there just for the food and scenery . But you freeeken minored? We need to talk. It takes everyone 8+/- .2gr. 3n37 and you think 7.25gr. is good to go WTF?
  11. Fast barrel??? Chrono or scale accuracy??? Double check everything, remember the Open.
  12. The best price I have found is Lowes.
  13. My Limited gun used to do this with new springs, the fix was silicone lube on the loaded rounds followed by a tumble in a towel. Cleans and lubes the rounds and they jump out of the mag now. + You can also can use a lighter recoil spring and still be 100% reliable.
  14. Dont get me started on WD-40, the only thing its good for is coating fishing lures. Case lube causing excess breach face impact and pressure? "Old wives tale" That little bit of brass does not contain the pressure in the chamber. All the case does is form a flexable gas seal in the chamber. If it held tight on the chamber walls from the moment of primer strike can you imagine the growth, pressure rings and case head seperations you would get in your brass as it expanded back to take up the slack in your guns action? The case head is pushing hard against the breach face by the time the primer is just starting to ignite the powder and the case is starting to loose its grip on the bullet. One Shot as case lube, followed by a shot of silicone on a towel with a quick tumble to clean and slick them up works great for me. I pour about 200 rounds at a time on a towl shoot them directly with silicone spray, "not a penetrating lube" and tumble them by shaking back and fourth in the towl, you would be suprised how much crud you will clean off your loaded rounds even using real clean brass and it makes them slick feeding.
  15. You put your holster and mag pouches on the thick stiff outer belt where they dont move. You then put the inner thin belt through your pants loops and velcro the whole thing together. The CR speed belt rocks and is way stiff your gear doesnt move.
  16. This is the same setup I use with great results, watch and protect the feed lips as they are soft.
  17. I dont reload them as they are very cheep here $5 per K cleaned. However there should be no problem reloading them as the pressure is not as bad as some think due to slow burning powders, and supported chambers.
  18. I just dont see the match fee being lowered when the match is filled in no time with tons of shooters on the waiting list, heck from the sound of it they could have filled 600 slots. Personally I like to see world class trophies at a world class match. If the size is a problem nice engraved cristal would be classy and something that shooters could put up in the den and look good instead of being religated to a back room. The top several shooters in each division should get a good cash payout. I am torn on classes as the classification issue is a problem, it is broken. But to stop some of the whining about international shooters, I know of one guy that had his class won over 2 international guys, if he did not throw it away on my-oops-his second to last stage. Classification also seems to factor in consistancy?
  19. I have been bit by the heavy metal bug and needed more ammo to feed my FAL, saw the good deal $115K del. on Pakistani ammo with Century and bought a case to try out. I have had good luck with Pak 308 in the past. What they sent me was the nastiest most corroded case of ammo I have ever seen. The metal can it came in was rusted clean through on the bottom and sides& the cardboard boxes inside the "sealed" case had turned to dust and all the ammo was green and pitted. I have PICS if anyone wants to host them. To say the least this stuff is going back to them at there expense, but what a PITA. Looks like I am going to have to stick with my good old standby SA battlepacks, and nice Australian dispite the cost.
  20. Why would you pick up brass?? Much less use it 3 times??
  21. Mine was delivered dry and drove me nuts with the squeek. I pulled the c clip and greased the shaft and it now works smother and silent. You could also try squirting some lube into the shaft and letting it work in.
  22. Eric; this is why the JP lightweight Aluminum or lightweight Stainless carrier setup uses a carbine spring, buffer with a spacer to take up the extra space in the stock. Well at least they did till they came up with the lightweight full size buffer. I have used the carbine spring buffer and spacer in several full size guns and like the feel. It seems most of the recoil movement in an AR is from the bolt, carrier and buffer moving not from the bullet and powder recoil.
  23. I like my 18" midweight. JM2c Best bet is call JP and talk with them. Tell them where you are, the matches you shoot and plan to shoot and get the recomendation from them.
