  1. So I guess this is not the place for me to post my Florida Open pictures?
  2. Of course I am going, my entry should be in Wadets hands as we speak. It should be a great match, James is putting together some stages that may define DVC? It will still be snowing next month in the North but should be beautiful down here.
  3. First, Thank you Frank all the staff and helpers that put on the match it was great, how you can make 300 shooters from all over the world happy is beyond me. IPSCg34, you were right about the prize table nazzi, As we didnt start getting to the prize table till like 8pm I think he just wanted to get home. but I do appreciate the bag of goodies to go along with my trophy. My binoculars are black and I really like the gargoils. After I tanked bad on my first 2 stages got rid of a bunch of excess adrinalin and gave up on doing well and decided just to have fun. I shot pretty well for me considering this was my first major match and only had my limited gun for 3 small matches before the Open.
  4. It is a patent infringement no matter where it is produced, its just a matter if the country in question has enough honer to abide by other countries patents. And who cares, its butt ugly and given the material used its not as strong as an S-I.
  5. The gun is now at 4500 rounds without one hiccup, including 3 local matches and the Florida Open. It is incredibly accurate at 1.5" 10 shots 50yd. off a rest. I have installed Grams Engineering spring and follower kits in all my mags and they are smooth and troublefree as well, they have more tension and wear better than any of the other 140mm mag spring combos out there. Although I only get 19 in my untuned SV mags, but they work 100%.
  6. Hopefully someone will e-mail or post the results soon, we didn't get to the prize table till 8PM so it may be a while.........I am happy though.
  7. With 230gr FMJ 4.0gr. Straight Clays @1.25"=Softer shooting & less muzzle blast than either tightgroup or bullseye. I prefer 200gr plated with 4.3gr. though, as they just feel better and are just a tad bit quicker for me. By the way welcome to the forums, try using the search function and you will find tons of info on reloading and loads.
  8. Eric must have large hands, everyone I have ever talked with loves the ICE and swear it has spead up there mag changes. I like the way the larger magwell makes the gun feel and point for me with my small hands. Mine is an SVI though. Heck I wish they made an ICE for a singlestack.
  9. Forget the sticky Dillon stuff and go with Hornady one shot for everything. You do have to tumble off Dillon lube. No need to wipe off if you dont want, if you do it tumbles off easyer and does not cake up your media. I have even found that not cleaning off one shot will make S-I mags work better.
  10. While I never recomend someone do there own trigger jobs, it is fairly easy if you buy the right tools. dont mess with the sear or hammer cuts without a jig. A digital trigger pull guage is needed to set spring tensions, dont try to do it by feel or look as the titanium spring has a differant rate and you need to have proper tension on both leafs. Brownells has a good article on setting up your leaf spring and the rates for the return and sear. I love the tri-glide system for a competition gun, but I can't adjust them above 3.5 lb. though so they are not a good setup for anything but pure competition. By the way if you get doubleing with a triglide its not the spring its your sear & hammer engagement. On singlestacks watch how much the frame holder bend engages your frame, I have had a few hang into the magwell, some slight trimming will cure this.
  11. I had this exact same thing on my SV with interchangable breach face, had the ejector slot in the breach face widened a bit and it is fixed.
  12. I have to disagree with you. Whether it was mountain biking with my Ridgeback in Washington, or walking my Border Collies in Arizona or Florida I have always used and like the retractable leashes. No one ever seems to call me fat or lazy, and I believe a skinny dog is a healthy dog. Seems you have a people problem and not a leash problem, those same people are the ones that let there dog crap everywhere and dont have the decency to pick it up. Be very carefull about trying anything via ordnance, it could backfire on you and prevent you from having your dogs in the park at all because there are more mothers with kids and old people than responsible owners that actually run there dogs. 13. How long does it take to drive from Orlando Intl. airport to Franks place.
  14. What Eric forgot to mention was this was on those politically correct classic targets. My C class times were way slower with 1.25 draw, .23 splits, .46 transitions avg. throwing shots all over the place, way off day. Not so sure about these little foreign targets.
  15. Yes I was there, he did it and made it look easy. What amazed me was the transition times between paper targets. I still don't understand the "easy part" cause while Dirtypool was HOT, I was cold and couldn't hit a thing. My 2.80 time doesn't matter if 2 plates are still standing does it?, he made my 3.40's seem slow. I forgot, checked my records my personal best with my new gun is a 2.85 clean with a 1.31 draw? To bad I could'nt have pulled a sub 1 sec draw, my best to a plate is a .92. This is not consistant in any way shape or form.
  16. I don't understand the problem? Using my EGW U die and Redding Comp. seating die, the Redding Factory crimp die size ring never even touches the case?
  17. Dirtypool40; Just ask and I will give you a bunch at 1.2" to play with, and mine won't have the hollowpoints loaded with corncob, guess what I cleaned out of my gun today?
  18. I finally got my entry in, I will be shooting Friday. Sounds like about 10 on the waiting list for Sat&Sun.
  19. KurtM; you are very correct, this is what happens when I answer posts at 2:30AM. I have used both Benny Hills and Benny Cooley's and they are both great Brakes, its a matter of choice as to Brake for competition, or suppress flash for social reasons. IMHO I believe social rifles should have a flash hider or naked muzzle due to blast and the fact they will most likely be used at night.
  20. You are talking about two different animals. A brake will increase flash and blast but reduce recoil allowing faster shooting while in a competition enviroment using ear protection, JP's Benny Hill model seems to be the best of the breed at reducing recoil at the expense of blast and flash. A true flashhider like the Vortex or A2 is your best bet for "social occasions" as it will have the least blast and flash. AR15.com has many reviews on the different flash suppressors. With a preban you can switch out between them to your hearts content, just watch your zero.
  21. With my 40S&W long throat Nowlin 5" barrel and a 180 Zero JHP. 5.10gr. VV320 @ 1.23" at 90 Deg.F = Vel. 952FPS, PF 171.3, SD8. Did a little "Cold Weather" chrono work for the Florida Open and the results are. 5.17gr. VV320 @ 1.20" at 55 Deg.F = Vel. 985FPS, PF 177.3, SD7. 5.00gr. VV320 @ 1.20" at 55 Deg.F = Vel. 960FPS, PF 172.8, SD6. Warm weather today. 4.85gr. VV320 @ 1.20" at 75 Deg.F = Vel. 953FPS, PF 171.5, SD8.
  22. I seem to be in the unique position of having had both Washington and Florida permits. The Washington permit is much less hassle and a true shall issue permit unlike Florida that requires a lame class you must pay a third party for. However this is why the Florida permit has better reciprocity. I believe the Washington outdoor festival part is due to the liquer permit process, and the college bit they pulled off due to federal support of the school just like the post office. Washington residents do not let Gary Loche mess with your permit process, its the best in the country, and all he wants to do is screw it up.
  23. JT- First Take a look at Wil Schuemann's websight, he has alot of great information on pistol timing, the books on 1911's vol. one and "two" by Jerry Kuhnhausen will supply you with a great base for 1911 fit and function. If you can find a nice S-I open gun package for 15-17 you are doing great, don't forget the USPSA forums or any large matches in the near future. Don't rush, find exactly what you want or have someone like Benny Hill build it for you.
