  1. What kind of lower did you get? Just a mil spec AR or PPC specific? I have built and bought guns. If you like to tinker building is way cheaper. Even buying the MPX or JP you will find yourself wanting to change stuff around just because. If you are looking to go cheap there is the Ruger PCC gun or heaven forbid a keltec sub 2000 I have not heard much about these but bet this would be a fun one to try. And they always seem to be in stock too https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-ar-v-16-9mm-1-10-lightweight-m-lok-moe-ept-pistol.html No matter what you do you will have a blast shooting PCC - you definitely want a red dot, maybe two and a green laser beam to aggravate those that think PCC is a crime... Good luck
  2. Do you have to have a 16" barrel where you live? Could you machine yourself a comp like this? https://brekkecustom.com/index.php/product/pcc-compxtension-6/
  3. Just called them to ask. They think my cutter head is a little wobbly? And are going to send out a new cutter head to try - but said it will take 2 to 3 weeks to ship. If that does not do it they will have to replace the unit. For meanness I tried to open the unit from the front. The 4 philips screws in the corners must be loctited in. I guess I was about 50ish in pounds and could tell I was about to have the screw driver slip/strip and quit I shared the same info with my shooting buddies. One of them has the same trimmer and says his does the same. He sets it and puts a piece of tape on the wheel and it does not turn I have probably cut about 1500 pieces of brass. But in the past was working with 100 or so at a time working up various loads for precision vs volume
  4. I have used this trimmer with success recently but in small batches. Last night I started working thru a pile of wolf 223. I set it up to trim at 1.750 and was watching tv and trimming away. I got thru about half the pile last light and quit. I started back into them again this eve. First case I cut I measured at 1.740 then a few more at the same length so I re adjusted to 1.750. I was watching closely and noticed the adjustment dial was turning a very small amount when I would cut a piece of brass. It took about 25 pieces of brass to see the adjustment line I had dialed into the center of the viewing window had turned counter clockwise and had moved over the edge of the window. So I am assuming about every 50 rounds I am loosing ~0.001 of length due to the dial moving while cutting. Anyone else notice this? I guess more than anything I am pissed as I have about 600 pieces of sorted brass that I sized and swaged then trimmed to somewhere between 1.740 to 1.750...
  5. Hopefully in the not too distant future we can look back at this and laugh as we remember the tinkering needed to get thru the great primer shortage of 2020 and 2021...
  6. Did you ever do any experiments or decide a comp is better than no comp for muzzle rise?
  7. Dammit! Now I need a Han Solo 22lr space blaster...
  8. I really want a NAA ranger in 22LR for some reason....
  9. Was the detent that holds the plug from turning still there? How many rounds on the rifle? Ever changed the rings on the plug? I have not heard of the wing (or whatever its called) that holds the plug in the piston housing to sheer/break off but I assume its possible?
  10. I watched this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1J7DwJh3yw&feature=emb_logo Says the frames are built in house by MPA but it has the CK logo on them. Why would they need to buy CK or Freedom to make an in house 2011. Wonder what the rest of the story is???
  11. I used to shoot service rifle a couple times a year at my local club. Its been a few years since I have made a match. I am watching the shooting shows tonight and they are shooting at the CMP. Everyone is using a scope on their match guns. Is my iron sighted rifle filled with lead weights pushing 17lbs now obsolete?
  12. I have used the this jig and it works well. If you look some guys on you tube have made some fancy shaving catchers. I just put the whole thing in a large tray to contain the mess but have not been doing huge volumes of brass. FYI answering my own question from above - I cut, then size and then trim to length Good luck
  13. I'd say you did fine. If you wanted out from under it I image you should not have a difficult time moving it. Once you bring it home post up a couple pics.
  14. So how much did they want? And where's the gun shop?
  15. Could be a special edition? Could be someone coated the frame? Is it a good price? I bet S&W could tell you. Or maybe even on the S&W forums... Mine is a dash 4 in 38 super that you don't see very often
  16. I wonder how those things handle vs mag fed guns. My versamax is a bit on the heavy side. Can't imaging it having another 10 rounds hanging off the barrel end
  17. Its been a long time since I worked these up and don't have the chrono data. Everyone should get a little note book to keep all their notes in one place so you can remember what you did 10 years ago. I do now... But they are 4.6gr universal under 125 zero 356 fmj @ 1.295. I used fed spp seated hard/deep for revolver to get reliable ignition. These were for Icore and I remember the PF being ~128 out of my 627 with 5.5 inch barrel Good luck
  18. I've done 38 super minor for revolver and a 1911 with unsupported chamber - but not with any of those powers....
  19. Did you all see the sequel? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5zNNk130V0&t=35s Would have liked to heard about costs - manufacturing vs retail where we are getting gouged. But in his answers sounds like primers will be scarce in the market for a while...
  20. I think this looks sweet http://diopticalusa.com/?page_id=1219
  21. LOL! I hope the ol 26 pounder gets reliable ignition!
  22. I think the comment about the system being dirty was more along the lines of a AR or AK DI or Piston systems. I think all the 9mm carbines are dirty. Maybe with he MPX being the worst as the gas system does shoot some gas around the pistol back at the top of the bolt carrier. Truth is any gun shot suppressed is going to get more carbon and fouling back into the action. Even good ARs suppressed. Shoot half a mag and pull it out you will notice how dirty all the fresh rounds in the mag are
  23. Its what HK and clones of HK use. Instead of straight blow back it takes some of that pressure to unlock the system which makes it recoil softer. IMO PCC guns with least recoil are MPX then HK MP5 then blow back 9mm then CZ scorpion. I have shot the CMMG banshee but it was the little braced 4" pistol and so light it was hard to tell if its radial delay blow back system sucks up recoil like the MP5 In short if you don't have one you need it! LOL
