Tax return is coming and I was thinking about getting one of these. Looks like Midway will throw in a bullet collator for free right now too. I have been using Dillon 650s with mr buller feeder for 10+ years. I like the sound having primer crimp removal but truth of the matter is I probably only loose 1 or so every 100 to 200 in 9mm to crimped primers

I ordered the Dawson springs to try Still not sure how to interpret this? You mean variable springs? Or less somehow equals more?

I have some full size wolff springs on hand so tried it out. Using this 7lb spring the plug is about a 1/4" from allowing full travel. The flat wire spring fully compresses allowing the plug to touch the guide rod stop. With the Wolff spring the slide does go back far enough to pick a round up out of the mag. But I would assume allowing the Wolff spring to 100% fully compress and smash onto itself is not going to last very long

Anyone try a standard wire spring on this skinny recoil rod? Or get the 12lb flat wire spring and cut off some coils? My gun feels over sprung and think driving 2nd shots low

I remember looking at those old STI catalogs back in the day and dreaming. STI made a bunch of cool guns. Not sure why I have a low opinion of staccato but those guns don't appeal to me

And I will double plug sometimes too. Especially if doing something dumb like shooting through a barrel or under a covered firing line

What powder you using? Bullet weight? And how many popples? I have a 9mm open gun. Buddy has a 38SC and it is noticeably louder. I think his having 8 holes vs my 3 makes a lot of difference I know my gun feels blastier shooting AA7 vs silhouette. 115s and AA7 I can feel my hair getting blown around

About a 627. In 9mm. Cylinder held 10 rounds. The moon clips held 16. It was awesome!!!

I have never owned or shot a Staccato. I have handled a few and they seem fine. I've owned several STI's. And I still do. Staccato makes me feel dirty. Even watching MV() shot show sales pitch videos doesn't make me want one. I'm currently dabbling in LO with a prodigy

I don't think there is anything wrong with shielded but never used them and never pinched my thumbs or stopped a slide from recoiling from contact. 1911 safeties are not drop in and will need fit into the gun. I'm tempted to load up a 115 125 147 load all at 129pf to test. But I'm not sure I'm really good enough to feel see realize what's best. The gun is a 4-in prodigy with OEM grip. I've got about every 9 mm bullet weight profile etc. I like to overthink reloading and testing ammo. It just seems to blow my mind where for as long as I can remember production Shooters needed to have 147 GR bullets. I was in the group. Used them in PCC too. But now I'm starting to feel like I like the lighter bullets. I'm sure somebody has done all of the Witchcraft Brewing in this process. And just thought I'd ask if anyone has the receipts to back this up?

So what's the secret load I need to be using? Light bullets, heavy bullets, fast powder, slow powder?

This is a story from another forum posted by someone else many years ago. I have thought about this story several times over the years. 2 mins of googling I tracked it down. This is recalling shooting a 50BMG AR upper... OK, here is the truth about this rifle. When I didn't get the chance to go with Mitch on the initial range session of this rifle, Mitch told me it was fine and manageable. And he had 7 rounds left that we could shoot this weekend. My shields must have been down, because I should have remembered he only had 10 rounds at the time, and there had to be a reason why he only shot it twice, and let his brother in law shoot it once. Today, Mitch shot it first and I was spotting for him. At about 20 feet away, it didn't sound all that loud, and I was watching his target instead of watching him. This was my second mistake. It was my turn and I positioned my self on the bench. I loaded one round, and let the scope settle onto the target. I was leaning into the gun a fair bit. I breathed and squeezed, and then the 7th gateway to Hell opened up. The sound reminded me of being caught at the green light of a top fuel dragster race when you don't have your ear muffs on because you are trying to listen to the guy beside you speak, and you are in the 5th row. The recoil was brutal. It wasn't a sharp kick at all. It was slow and forceful. The recoil impulse took long enough for me to think, Baby Jesus make it stop. It felt like it took forever to lose it's energy against my shoulder. It gets better, the recoil and noise were minor in comparison to the over pressure in the shooter's envelope. It felt like someone punched me square in the nose, and the gun never came close to me. It was a pressure wave, that made my eyes tear, my sinuses drain, and later when I got home and blew my nose, I discovered it had been bleeding. I should have learned my lesson, but mistake #3. I shot it again. This time, I leaned farther into it. Same noise and over pressurization, but this time instead of being pushed back with the recoil, it twisted my right shoulder on my hips like an old G I Joe figure could swivel. Right now, I feel like I was a character in Fight Club.

Ya I decided to not worry about the slide a long time ago then someone dropped the bad barrel story on me and I started wondering. I will go back to only fixing things that are broke and not worry about witchcraft and theories....

Gun is fine. Just didn't know if I needed to be concerned preemptively

I have a relatively low round count CK open gun I bought new in 2016. I shot it for a little more than a year, then got another open gun, then switched divisions and haven't used this one much. I know there was a time where a lot of slides were cracking and heard the problem described as a "bad bunch of slides." My gun has a early serial number 017X and was told this was built before the bad slides. Well I just learned about a gun builder suing a barrel manufacture and distributer for selling barrels that were out of hardness spec and it was barrel stress/flex causing the slides to fail. Not trying to bad mouth anyone but looking for info. I did some googling and could not find any details. Do I need to quit shooting this gun and have a new barrel fitted?

What was the video? Are you saying the prodigy and mbx mags need spacers like the old gen 1 sti tubes?

I've tried them all in open. Bigger is better? old cmore sits too high. 510 feels a bit too big body wise. RTS2 is nice and used them for a long time. But the sig xl is what I liked best. Feels like the perfect size window/body and super bright dot. I just switch the SRO off prodigy for a 507 comp. I really like it but if someone makes a plate to squeeze a sig xl on the prodigy I bet I slap one there too. But for the money 507 comp will be hard to beat if they don't get tore up easy

It helped. I shot a steel match with the 147s and had one FTE. Then I switched to 125tc blues @1.10" and shot a uspsa match that was close to 300 rounds with 0 issues. Well gun issues...
