    Caspian

Flex, The picture is a Caspian Race Ready, from what I can remember that gun is SS legal.(I built it) Caspian makes alum. main spring housings, the frame under the grips can be opened up to loose weight. The magwell can be opened up a little but with a little welding it can be really opened up wide and deep. The dust cover can also be trimmed shorter if desired. Rich
  2. I don't care how quick it is from 0-60, I want it to go from 150mph to 65mph quicker than the radar gun can pick it up. Rich
  3. Gary, No more singing the blues, now the car can do all the singing for you. Rich
  4. Safariland makes a great holster, with that said a holster has to feel right to you then the hard part practice-practice-practice. If you don't try them all you will never know if you found the right holster for you. It's amazing how people will take someones opinion as the best without testing all that is out there. Rich
  5. Brian, I believe there is a seller of high end shotguns over in Paridise Valley, he should be able to put a market value on it. I want to say the name is Southwest something. Rich
  6. Bring it to the SSC, I'd like to check one out. I'm trying to justify buying a Shelby GT500 KR, everyone is looking to get good gas mileage and be green. I want a big block with a supercharger. Hope you get it soon. Rich
  7. George's (EGW) cutter is a little better than the Nowlin, they both will work. The EGW is easier to use, use a good cutting oil, and a slow rpm. I get quite a bit of tooling from J&L Industrial(part of MSC). Don't buy your tooling based off of cost, the end result will show cheap cutters are not worth your extra time or money. Rich
  8. Hey Jason, I got $100.00 in that gun, when can I use it to to scrape the gum off my shoes. Rich
  9. I recieved several sets yesterday, they are made very well. Fit and finish is excellent you won't be disappointed. They give the gun a much better feel in the hand than the factory grips. Rich
  10. I use the same load for 5" and 6" guns not that much of a difference to have different loads. Rich
  11. Henning's IPSC Standard pad will work. Rich
  12. I'd go with a Pact with printer and IR screens, great chrono no problems. Rich
  13. In that kit the trigger bar, sear, and safety block springs are reduced power springs. Rich
  14. Not all pencil erasers are made of the same material. Some will bounce better, some are so soft the FP will pierce the eraser. The real test is will it ignite primers, not how far it shoots pencils out. Lighter springs for the FP don't work so why would someone want to push the limits of function for very little pull weight reduction and lighter recoil springs. The factory weight FP, rebound, and recoil springs will provide reliability and function. The Canyon Creek FP and rebound springs are factory spec, they aren't lighter. Rich
  15. When using SWC bullets in the XD acp the empty case rim comes in contact with the shoulder of the bullet of the next round in the mag when extracting. It's not a feed issue, it's an extraction issue. Some guns will run them others just won't without some modification. It's easier to use a bullet profile that doesn't have a sharp shoulder like true SWC bullets. Rich
  16. There is nothing wrong with the Caspian wide body platform. It is a great platform to build on for a multitude of uses. The Caspian at one time was to gun to have, it won the World Shoot, Nationals, and many Area matches. During the ban mags were not that hard to come by, I bought new mags during the ban for no more than $65.00 and $50.00 for used. I still have a dozen or two still in the wrapper. Now that Caspian (Tanfoglio) mags are readily availible there is no reason to dismiss the viability of this gun for IPSC shooting. If you have a personal gripe with Caspian don't use them, there are plenty of other platforms out there to suit anyones fancy. Rich
  17. You have to trip the sear with a thin punch from the rear of the slide. Rich
  18. Using Sig sights there will be a gap between the top of the slide and the bottom of the sight. There's plenty of sights availible made just for the XD to choose from. Rich
  19. In the current Front Sight it has the official team selection. A few top shooters names are oddly missing like Dave S. and Rob L.. I guess their not going or they just weren't good enough. Rich
  20. EAA has to take what Tanfoglio sells them. Tan. did a year end change with the rear sight so you think EAA should print a new catalog. The '08 catalog is probably being printed right now. If you don't like the new rear sight, change it or don't buy the gun. Rich
  21. I would like to see some details on this purchase of the SC before I say it is a good or bad purchase. Did we buy this from cash on hand or did we borrow the funds? For those who don't want to say how much we paid we will find out when the '07 financial report is published in Front Sight. If it was from our own money , is the SC going to replace it? If so, is there a planned schedule of payback? What did we actually buy? Just the name or is there something tangible? How is USPSA going to take this to a new level? I think USPSA needs to get in front of this quickly. Rich
  22. So the trigger guard and the dust cover are the only things on a production gun that can't be polished, throated, checkered, stippled, beveled, exchanged, or just flat out modified. Those two parts are the only things that are going to be production on a Production gun. I'd like to thank the BOD for their hard work and dedication on putting together the new rule book. Rich
  23. Has anyone sent JA the pictures of a before and after of these beveled guns? Filling in the hole in the frame and then beveling it shouldn't be allowed. There is a rule that slugs aren't legal. If this mod is deemed legal I would say Production has just became a full blown race gun Division. To checker and/or stipple a grip does change the profile. The C-S just gives a way to extremely modify a gun. What ever happened to no external modifications? All we get from the top is read the rules, the answer to all your questions are there. With these new rules you can practically build a gun from scratch. Rich
