  1. Flex, I edited out off topic parts. Sorry
  2. To the thread topic at hand As to the wording " other than sights" is about as clear as it can be. You can modify the exterior to put sights on. As with Flex I too want to know why so many don't like the use of adjustables or fixed sights that require a different sight application. Got to go, the finish has cured on two slides with melted in sights. Rich
  3. The group that developed the Division rules must have thought about what shooters would want to do to their guns. The best example is the part "other than sights" or no minimum pull weight and etc.... in reliability. No matter what happens some guns will have advantages and others disadvantages. It's a no win all around. Rich
  4. It should be illegal in Limited, but the way the rulings have going it will probably deem legal. Rich
  5. To allow checkering is an even bigger oppurtunity to get a gun to fit your hand. Take a CZ/clone and checker all the way into trigger gaurd and then the bottom of the trigger gaurd. No big deal unless 50 to 60 thou or more are taken off first then checkered. Big change and to the average RM would never catch it. Allow checkering no way. I don't think the BOD should be allowed to tell how a trigger job can be done internally. To do so opens up liability upon USPSA. Leave that to the gunsmiths. I don't think the 2.oz over factory was added to stop people adding 1.9999oz of grip tape. It was in my opinion to let the shooter use a tungsten guide rod and keep it in check. Where else or how would you add weight to a gun that can't have external mods. Oh wait, put strips of lead on the grip and cover it with grip tape. It's in the nature of the sport and the shooters to have gun work done. If it wasn't allowed we would be shooting Revos and WWI 1911's right now. What the intended purpose of Production was never conveyed to the people that count, the shooters. Look at Limited Division it was supposed to be a way for stock iron sighted guns a place to play. Todays Limited Div. is in no way anything like what was invisioned in the beginning except for optics and ports.(now compensators are legal Trusight) All suggestions and options should be looked at, new rules are put out for input and so should should Production changes. If there is a loophole, shooters will find it. Rich
  6. I have not seen it mentioned here but the BOD voted to lift the one year limit if the number limit is met. Now the XD .45acp and the M&P could be legal before the Nationals if they are added to the list. Rich
  7. If you don't like melted in Bo-mars you should have voiced that opinion back in 2000. The rule states 21.5 External modifications OTHER THAN SIGHTS not allowed. This is a done deal from the start. This how Production should be handle from now on. At any Area Match or the Nationals the Match Director will have the Range Master/s afford the shooter a pre match equipment check. This will give a shooter time to get legal equipment before the match start. At the start of the match the first stage the shooter will turn in to the CRO an equipment card which will have on it the Make,Model, and serial number of their equipment. With todays tech a digital or cam cord picture of the shooters gun and rig. At any point during the match accept for the time after the walk thru and the completion of the stage the shooter cannot be equipment checked. (We don't want to throw a shooter off their game by an equipment check.) The ideal time for an equipment check would be right after a shooter completes a stage. The shooter can be ECed multiple times during a match. If the shooter is found to have illegal equipment, the shooter will be issued a Unsportsman like conduct DQ. Leave the rules alone, with this system all of the rule offenders will get the message. There is room for the rules to be cleaned up, in Flex's thread awhile back I gave what I thought the rules should be. Very simply put a shooter can read them and determine if their equipment is legal. Simple yes- no answers. Like, Are magwells permitted? -NO etc......... Rich
  8. One more chance to beat a dead horse. If the BOD wants to play with the rules it means nothing if they DON'T enforce them. They haven't enforced the rules we have now. So why would a new set of rules be any different. If you think I'm encouraging people to go out and cheat I'm not, USPSA has been doing it for the last 6 years. All I have to say to the BOD if they declare existing equipment illegal, it is only going to hurt the organization. If one looks back, it is the "USPSA Way" to cost its membership money for their (USPSA's) own mistakes. Define what Production is first, then and only then can a set of rules can be effective. This needs to be in black and white printed in the rule book. Rich
  9. Nemo, I didn't even know there was a Revo forum here. Mods delete Rich
  10. Looking at the top 20 I see Jerry has company. Now there's three with two almost there. Rich
  11. Grip tape would be illegal also, unless it come from the factory that way. Rich
  12. The last time I checked a bag with a gun in it with United, the baggage tag has a row of X's on it which denotes a firearm inside. It's not noticable to the average person but the baggage handlers know what it stands for. It may have changed since. Rich
  13. Part of the problem is it is 2 matches in one, so shooters are getting one less match to shoot every year. The Desert Classic in years prior to the Area2 would always be sold out, the numbers were around 275 shooters. There are shooters who just want to shoot the Area 2 Championship. This would take some of the number of shooters trying to get into the DC. I thought the primary reason for Colorado being added to Area 2 was to have another place to host the A2 Championship. New Mexico had it in 1999, since then Rio has been the host if I'm not mistaken. Maybe if all of this energy to get into the DC/A2 would be applied to other clubs to host A2 it wouldn't be so frustrating to some unlucky shooters. If you really want to shoot the match you can always be a RO/CRO. I'm just amazed that the Rio crew has done this dual match for so long and at such a high level without total melt down. Maybe some people need to recognize that you can't get into every match you want to. Rio has always done this match ap. on Aug 1 for years proir to this dual match format. Rio needs a break and a big thank you for all of this hard work. Rich
  14. It was between Sparta and LasVegas for the ATA to relocate to. I guess Illinois had more to offer. Chicago and the collar counties are anti-gun, the rest of the state is pro-gun. Uninformed people would rather bash Illinois than actually find out the truth. Once someones mind is set there is no way to change it. So before you start your boycott on Illinois you better sell off all of what you own from Illinois. You don't want to be called a hypocrite or do ya. Speaking to the wind, Rich
  15. Yes stop the Illinois funding, stop buying Winchester ammo, LMT guns ( they supply the end user on several US military guns), Armalite, Les Baer, Rock River Arms, Springfield Armory, Kreb's, DSA, Heinie, Killhopher sp, Ogelsby, Zanders, Williams Shooters Supply, Pistol Gear, Canyon Creek, Vit powder...................................... Rich
  16. I'm on the BOD at the local sportsmen's club and for a couple of years we wrangled with raising dues. We finally did raise the dues and we are almost to the point of a waiting list again. Raising dues increased membership for us. For 5 years we rented our range to a security company to add to our revenue it almost equaled our yearly dues income. We got greedy and pushed the rental fee up. They had their own range built with Homeland Security money, we lost a big chunk of change with that move. One thing we are looking at is to lease a part of our ground to a wireless communication company for a cell tower. Around here they pay good money for key sites, we own three different properties( lake, outdoor range, and indoor range). I personally hate all the cell towers that have sprung up across the country, write a @#%$#@ letter. I've seen people lease out to three different companies on the same piece of ground, 3 times the income. If you have a good population to draw from, a open public range on the weekends. Rich
  17. A new Ice age is just right around the corner, enjoy the warmth. Rich
  18. Springfield will pay shipping both ways if it is a warranty issue. If someone tinkers with the gun then the owner will pay for shipping and repair work. I'd buy the gun for $350.00 and have SA fix it for free, what a bargain. Rich
  19. Hank, A #18 fixed weight recoil spring. ZXD9, I shoot .40's, Steve is set up with a 9. The first 9mm I tested, I tried factory loads and hand loads from 115 to 147 with light to heavy loads and also springs, always ended back at the #18. The 18 will close and keep the slide closed. A .40 slide lightened to the weight of a 9mm, I still came back to the #18. The lighter the load with the #18 the ejection distance is decreased. The problem that occurs with light springs is the slide doesn't close all the way. When the trigger is pulled all that happens is the slide closes. There is a light mark on the primer, most people think it was a high primer or a light strike. The other problem with a light spring is during a hard reload you can bump the slide back and you get the same result as above. To the others that are using light springs with success keep on going. If and when it fails I won't tell you I told you so. Rich
  20. Bigbadaboom, Did you send your XD back to Springfield so they could fix it for free under warranty? Rich
  21. All Tacticals run the best with a #18 fixed rate spring. I've guide rod and recoil spring assemblies for the .45 Tacticals that use 1911 recoil springs SS or Tungsten. The factory recoil springs are #20+, for using ball ammo. When lighter springs are used you run the risk of not having the slide return to full battery and also on hard reloads bumping the slide back. Rich

  23. Competition shooters are probably less one percent of any major gun manufacture annual sales, excluding S_I. Look at the numbers over 50,000 membership numbers and less than 15,000 active members. Now that's a HUGE market to cater to? When companies launch new models like the M&P and the XD maybe it is in the companies best interest to find out if the are problems. By selling parts to the public they have no idea if there is a problem that needs attention unless the customer sends the gun in for repair. If you didn't hear it the first 3248(Eric ) times, gun companies are in the gun selling business not in the parts business. When guns that are selling as fast as they can be produced every part that is sold is one less gun that can't be sold. Some companies are content with flooding the market with spare parts because they don't want to be bothered with warranty repairs. Now that's the attitude from a company I want to buy a gun from. Give it some time. Rich
  24. It should be a gun that meets the Production rules and is availible to the public, go have fun. No number or time limit. Rich
  25. Six months into a 36 month trial and the sheep are getting nerves . What a waste of this Forum there are more important items that need attention in USPSA. Rich
