  1. I have always thought that the transfer fee should be a Match expenditure. Winner pays for any shipping if needed. I'm an FFL holder and handle transfers for several organizations, they all pick up the transfer fees as part of their event. Rich
  2. From Soonerpast "On another forum, there are reports of trouble getting wadcutters to feed in the XD. Sort of the same situation." The XD 45 using SWC in most cases will not be able to extract the fire case cleanly. Most people think it's a feed problem, it isn't. What happens is the fired case catches the shoulder of the bullet of the next round in the magazine. This will cause the the empty case not to clear and get caught with the next round being feed or if the case clears the ejection port the point at which the case hit the shoulder of the next round deforms the bullet enough that it can't be chambered. Rich
  3. Just a word of caution when shooting major 9mm, make sure the barrel is fully supported. I have seen a few after market barrels that didn't have enough support which can cause a catastrophic case failure which can cause the frame to crack. This lack of support can also come from someone over cutting the feed ramp for better feeding reliability. Rich
  4. Running XD's in Production. The XD Tactical will have reliability with a 16# in 9mm and 18# .40 recoil spring, when you start going lighter the firing pin spring will over power the recoil spring(pull it out of battery). The 9mm slide is lighter than the 40 slide. The XD isn't a 1911 so what works for 1911's doesn't work on the XD's. Trying to run on the edge with light springs and power factor will result in failure when you can't afford it(during a match). Work up a load to run with an 16-18# spring for 9mm and 40 and you will have the most reliability that you possibly can. 9mm-130 to 135+ PF, .40- 135 to 140+ PF with these power factors and 16-18# springs you will be good to go. I've seen and have tried just about everything you can think of in the past 6+ years to get that perceived edge. The edge is YOU when your gun runs 100%. Rich

I had a package that was sent to me awhile back registered priority. When it was shipped the counter person sold them signature confirmation along with the registered priority. RP already requires a signature, they paid twice for the signature. So after a week waiting for it I started to look into where it was at. It only had to go 500 miles to reach me. I checked with the post office and they informed me it takes 12 to 15 days for registered mail to be delivered. It finally arrived after 2 weeks and I saw what was charged to send this $24.50, they could have shipped it any other way for less than half that and a week+ sooner. Rich
  6. There is a night and day difference between a factory trigger and a custom trigger job. Take the extra step you won't be disappointed. Find somebody that has had a trigger job done and feel it for yourself. Rich
  7. Going to a lighter firing pin spring will limit you to Federal primers if you go too light. If you want reliability stay with the factory spring. Rich
  8. CR Speed would be the race holster. I use Safariland mag pouches, ones marked for Beretta/Caspian will work. I use my SVI sized pouches with a little more tension also. Rich
  9. It's easier to buy the official box from USPSA, it is heavy duty and has a good finish. Rich

The factory barrels are quite good, do some testing with powders and bullets you might be surprised. If it needs some help have it refit. Rich
  11. CHA-LEE, I made a tungsten rod for Henning, the weight gained isn't really worth the price for making one. To gain the weight needed to see a big advantage a larger diameter rod and spring would have to be used. Rich
  12. No anger in my posting, just being informative. I get a least a call each week with someone wanting me to do the cut to their hammer. I have to decline their request. I asked Doug awhile back for his permission to do the cut, he hasn't gotten back to me on it. If someone wants to do it to their own hammer or someone does it for free for somebody else doesn't make it OK to do in my opinion. Rich
  13. Patent # D 362,709 read the Claim section. Rich
  14. Just a word of warning, that slot cut in the hammer is an infringement on Doug Koenig's trade mark/patent. Doug doesn't take to kindly to someone copying his property. Rich
  15. I use the Nosler 135 gr. .357 dia. bullet for my 9x23, I had one barrel .355(Nowlin) go to 125K before showing a lose of accuracy. The only problem running .356 or .357 dia bullets in a .355 barrel may be an increased wear, with the powders and barrels available today 100k+ shouldn't be a problem. Rich
  16. A word of caution when using N310, light bullets will show signs of high pressure. 135 and heavier work good. Rich
  17. I got one of Jim's heavy receiver sets(FB15?), wanted to do 6.5 Grendel just for kicks. So after 9 months of waiting for parts I was able to shoot it today. Off to the range, well the Civil War shooters had the range. Plan B a friend of mine has a small range that only goes to 125 yards, it's better than nothing. Heavy cross wind and was still able to get a sub 3/4" group before the Jewel trigger started to act up. Alexander 24" barrel with Henning's Thor comp, standard RRA bolt carrier I've got a JP to try later, JP adjustable gas block, Ace stock, Accuracy Speaks extended rail, Leupold VIII 6.5x 20 56mm VHR obj. 30mm tube with Warne rings, Clark carbon fiber free float. It shoots like nothing I've ever shot before on an AR platform, this gun is going to be fun to use.
  18. I wouldn't try anything past 1.150 oal. Rich
  19. Cheap, card board and duct tape. Quality and durability Safariland. Rich
  20. I would like to see another club host the Area 2 Championship. How many years has the A2 match been piggy backing off of the Desert Classic? We've been short changed an extra match for years. Rich
  21. Canyon Creek has built quite a few M's for Limited Div., the M has the same sight radius as a 5" 1911 slide. With their 140mm base pads it will hold 21 rounds of .40 s&w and there is also a magwell for the M. Along with their trigger job, guide rods, extended release, and low mount sights the M is a contender in the Limited Div.. Rich
  22. Some of the first released XD's had front sights in extremely tight. Milling them out was the way to remove. Since then they have become rather easy to remove, a good punch and hammer with the slide in a padded vise. I've removed over a thousand of them over the years only a handfull had to be milled out. Rich
  23. Others: XDm's, Tanfoglio's, Caspian's, Springfield's, and Para's. All of these will work for Limited and more. Rich
  24. For her next trick, bowling ball. Rich
