  1. Factory front height is .160, the Heinie rear sight is the same height as the factory rear. Rich
  2. When you just can't wait for Springfield and when you have a 6" barrel just laying around, that's perfection calling. I took the shop gun done in red and did a little machining here and there and a lot of patience. I got the barrel to fit into that skinny slide. A crown and some polishing and it was time to test fire. So far the test rounds are feeling good, I need to work up a major load in a short length and do some accuracy testing. When I find some more time I'll get one of my mag wells fitted and one of the super heavy weight tungsten rods made(5+ ounces).
  3. Long dust cover to short dust cover is a little over 2 ounces. Rich
  4. Be aware that polymer guns don't Ransom rest that good, they will shift. If you over tighten the gun in the fixture you can cause malfunctions in the guns operations.
  5. The easiest an quickest way to get 10 rounds mags is to weld two together. The other way would be make an aluminum base pad to increase the capacity. Rich
  6. There are others who have an insert and solid tungsten rods available. Rich
  7. An EMP with a couple of mods to improve the fit. Rich
  8. Paul, It would be easier to just get a Canyon Creek 4P 5.25, it has everything you need to shoot Production. Rich
  9. The XDm 4.5 has the same sight radius as a 1911 gvt model, if your willing to wait around 9 months or slightly less(my guess Shot Show) the 5.25 .40 will be released. There is more support for the XD/m's than the Ruger. Rich
  10. The nra logo was just for that year of a limited run, the cocking serrations were changed because the new design works better. Its been that way for quite awhile now. Rich
  11. Reviwear makes a great shirt, you should give them a look. Rich
  12. I've done it before hard chrome but not after hard chrome. Rich
  13. Qbert It can be used to tighten up the frame to slide, anything more than 3 thousandths I weld up the rails. I've never done a barrel/bushing but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Rich
  14. This the closest I've come to catching a bullet in flight.
  15. If the open end of the spring was put against the guide rod head, it can over ride the guide rod head and make it difficult to get the top end off. It may require a bit of force to get the top end off. Rich
  16. All of the guns I have test fired has produced above average groups with 115(FMJ) grain bullets. I'm going to load up some heavier bullets for some groups at 25 to 50 yards. Rich
  17. The 5.25 uses the same lower as the 4.5, if you 4.5 has a trigger job do all of the safety checks before shooting the 5.25 upper. Rich
  18. Question- Which state in Area 5 has hosted the A5 Match the most times? Answer- Illinois Why- Because IL has the ranges and most important the people who want to put the match on. If you want it in another state get your SC to find a range willing and able to do it. It's that simple to get it, it's just not that simple to actually run it. As trivia note what state has hosted an Area Match that wasn't in their Area? Illinois did Area 3. Rich
  19. SA will probably release a 525 in a .40 first and then the .45 if they see the need. XD mags don't work with the XDm's, the M's are based on the .40 cartridge to be a true double stack. The XD's are based off of the 9mm cartridge for a true double stack. Rich
  20. Just because everyone else is willing to stay with standard rifling doesn't mean it is good enough, innovation is what gets us better equipment to enjoy. I'm sure at the time flintlock dueling pistols were good enough, so why would anyone want something better. Rich
  21. XD's aren't 1911's so light recoil springs will not work, if you go too light on the recoil spring the firing pin spring will want to pull the slide out of battery. Rich
  22. I think a wood rasp works better on sears myself, as to barrel lower lugs a Roto-Zip does wonders. Rich
  23. A trigger job will improve it greatly, it will be like night and day difference. Rich
  24. Just about any holster that is for an XD Tactical should work with the 5.25. The 5.25 is just .25 longer than the Tactical, if it is a closed end holster it may not fit perfectly. Rich
  25. This discussion boils down to one thing the shooter. A person with upper body strength will be able to manage/control a gun easier than one who is out of shape and weak. I would suggest a bushing barrel, extra weight can always be added if needed. Tungsten guide rods and barrel sleeves are the easiest options that increase the most weight. Rich
