  1. My 300 win mag 700 p did not come with the xmark and while ok, does nerd to be upgraded.
  2. Center of Mass makes a SS holster where you can adjust the cant. I use a spacer to get just a little clearance.
  3. There can be some issues with 20 inch 308 loads as the round gets close to subsonic and I think that may have been his point. My 20" 308 is great to 800 then things get interesting but I shoot 155's.
  4. My 14 year old son has been shooting for a few years and would come to a couple of matches each year. Over the winter he started to dry fire regularly with me and get some pretty impressive results. I kept harping "hey, you gotta see it before you pull the trigger". Well, we shot two classifier matches this weekend and boy the first shots seemed fast, but sure enough the hits were there. If the calculator is accurate he will move from D class firmly into the middle of B class. I got home late last night and he was waiting to dry fire. Our people are really motivated by success. Afterward, I signed him up for the advanced pistol class Mike Seeklander will teach here in Missoula this summer. He will be surprised. We have always been close and done things togethger but shooting is my passion and it is great to have him with me. We are not the most athletic people so though we play and enjoy sports, shooting has been a great motivation for working out to get faster and better. He is very interested in my limited guns but will shoot his G 34 for the rest of the year. We will build/buy him a limited platform over the winter. Shooting teaches so much; how to be a gracious winner, how to accept failure, that work is the reward. I feel blessed that I can have not only my son learn with me but that he fits in with my shooting partner with ease. God is good.
  5. You are buying a pretty well priced machine. To keep the price where it is some parts are less expensively made. This can be ok for the occasional shooter but in our sport you will probably want to make some changes. I replace the trigger group and safety and spring it to my taste and my 3 STI's run great. I know it is a big first cost but it will last a long time. There will be upkeep costs. Make use of the great video and web instruction and you can start doing some of your upkeep. Good luck.
  6. Kit, as a reminder about how important shooting A's is, Scott won the match by about 3 points. I shot one "D". If I trade it for one A I'm set.
  7. As a reminder, production scoring sucks. Shoot "A's". WPA
  8. I have both 20" bolt and ar in 308. Both love 150 Nosler ballistic tips over 43 grains of benchmark. Over 2700 fps and really accurate.
  9. Pin it if you don't grind it off. The buff can end up in the works.
  10. Armalite also makes a slim version for $80 that looks pretty good. It is vented.
  11. When I read your topic the first thing that came to mind was white or black tape but there are a lot of good suggestions here.

    BDU's

I am looking for summer weight (as light as possible) BDU's. I am short waisted and most pants make me look like I have a load in my pants. Anyone out there solve this problem with a specific brand?
  13. It looks like the SV sight uses a pin like a bomar. I have killed 5 of those. I guess we will see how my Tripp sights hold up.
  14. Yes, the burner grips make my single stack feel like my limited gun. I did grove the grip to make it easier to get to my mag release.
  15. I use "burner" grips that make it feel like a limited gun.
  16. If you are going to load long, stay with the 10 mm mags.
  17. $55 shipped do it?

  18. How about the 1.5 x 6 Weaver with the German reticle?
  19. What appeared to be a pretty skilled guy shot one iron sights last year at the Montana multi gun. He struggled with small or distant targets. I admired his ability to find super stable positions. That match is a ball by the way.

    Too hot

It's too bad there isn't a good gunsmith close who could machine some vents for you. Oh wait, there is! Much cheaper also.
