  1. Why not the .7mm-08? 162 grain Amax has super ballistics; better down range energy than a 30-06 at 1000. Runs great in an AR platform and is not a barrel burner.
  2. His processor works faster than mine. Pretty cool.
  3. +3 would allow you to cycle 1 and load 4 for 12 rounds. A little shorter. Mine is on a 22 inch barrel.
  4. I looked at one today. Good glass, 2nd focal plane, dot with mils in all directions. Not super bright dot but it won't make a top shooter less good. Pretty good value.
  5. Lists of replacement parts usually come from shooters who have worked through finding parts that work for them. If you can shoot different guns with different parts and see what you like you can start to get an idea for your own gun. Upgraded parts are well worth the money, but take your time. A light crisp trigger gets more and more important as you develop; the right spring weights, sights, grip textures all make a difference. Enjoy learning.

    Pot Holes

It's like a slalom course in places. I watched a local county officer run the same course right behind me last week.
  7. I would I love to see pics including holster when all said and done.
  8. Just had these removed from my right wrist. I feel your pain
  9. You can pick almost any off the shelf hi cap 19/2011 for that price. A para P14 is small, a little lighter, powerful and leaves a little money for upgrades. My only question is, do you want to carry something that will end up in a police evidence locker for up to a year if you have to use it? I'm no one, but I carry a glock (fit in any Tupperware gun) because it is light, holds plenty of rounds, is easy to use and I can go buy another one tomorrow. Try wearing a full size 1911 around for a few days before you spend 2Gs on a carry gun. If you buy a 9mm you could always use it for 3 gun.
  10. 9mm load development and a spare cat? Hum.
  11. Thanks Don. I will try a few different Zeros and see what I can figure out.
  12. That is excellent advice I have followed. I just wondered if there was any one with experience shooting it already. I am noticing some positive and negative qualities just dry firing. I will get to the range this weekend and see what we have. Thanks.
  13. I know the reticle is for 7.62, and I have a .308 AR where I could mount it. I got a screaming deal on a brand new MTAC and wondered if anyone has built hold overs in .223 55ish grain loads for the 7.62 reticle. I am aware of the disadvantages of the 1.5.
  14. I saw someone heat Velcro with a heat gun (on low), then apply it. The stuff was much more secure. What I need is A six inch cord pressure switch rather than a 12inch pigtail.
  15. If you are using a shock buff try it without. Some guns just don't put up with them.
  16. Scopes are surely defective. Send mounts and scopes to me, I will destroy them. Seriously, I hope you get this sorted. Nothing blows up my shooting like not trusting my equipment.
  17. I remember that feeling. You might find a lined holster that would save it for a while. You are going to love the gun.
  18. No spacers as you can just run factory 9mm 126mm mags. The one that came with my 2011 works perfect. 140 mm mags can (are not always) a challenge.
  19. Mom is paying attention, kid is honoring her direction. It turned out ok.

    Moving

Young people is the only reasonable solution for your problem.
  21. I bought a 2011 STI and it is very soft. An aluminum grip is + 4 oz and steel + 11. Aluminum might hold up with 9mm and be a good intermediate option. Not a brick but still soak up the recoil. Does the trinity grip work with old style SV trigger bow and STI mags?
  22. Due to an upcoming wrist reconstruction, I will need to find the gun that transfers the least amount of energy back to my hand. I likely will never be able to run 10k of major again, but I have a 16 year old who loves shooting and I want to keep my hand in. I will shot weak hand only this season but if the repair works (70%), I want to shoot with him in a semi competitive way. Minor limited is my likely choice. The calculator linked above is interesting.
  23. That is very helpful sonO. It looks like a 9mm 2011 in minor offers a 40% reduction in recoil. For me that could work.
