  1. have you tried different mags/mag springs? Are you using using the bushing that is made for 5inch springs in a 6 inch gun? ie does the spring go all the way to the end of the bushing or does it stop like an inch before the front end of the bushing
  2. are you using 5 inch springs with the appropriate bushing or 6? The typical 5inch spring is a 9-11 pound. I would try a 9, 10 and 11 and see what works best for you
  3. I view the weight the same as everything else at the chrono stage. If you leave a buffer, your not sweating the chrono. My Major PF loads are 175 and 172 pf, my minor is 135, Neither of my guns are pushing the weight limit to the max both have aproximately 1oz or more to spare. My mags run the std +1 and not the SNL so they fit with room to spare. The chrono stage should be the easiest out there not the hardest
  4. a jager kit will get you there pretty reasonable
  5. I don't see you getting 22 rounds with that combo. That seems like a 20 round combo at best. Typically, 140 tube, Dawson base bad(be prepared to shave the back of the feed lips if you run a SNL), and grams followers/springs will be 20 reloadable. If you tube the tube you can go 21 rounds with the grams combo. SV mags set up the same will generally go 21 rounds. The dawson followers are more for 100 percent reliability without modification than max capacity. If you really want 22 rounds, the rescomp tube is the way to go or pay a ton for one of the old H Smith 22 rounders. The 22 rounders are ok to have but are typically used very rarely. Most just run then when it really matters(especially with the softer resomp tubes which arnt great for dropping). 19/20 round reliable mags are best for the majority of the shooting
  6. After looking for a while, the solid feeling is the reason I went with the racemaster. I checked out one chuck had for his personal gun at shooters and walked out with one the same day. The location of the lock was a big factor for me as we get some odd starts here from time to time ie sitting in a chair, laying on a "bed" etc. I like knowing if that holser is locked on those weird positions its not coming out. Looked over some of the other holsters and just didnt have that confidence in them. Went with the racemaster as I liked the external adj knob as well as the ability to switch guns if i decide to. Pricy but figure its not like i buy one all the time
  7. The weight forward isnt a problem if its handled correctly. Look at how the clay shooters are usually moving the gun. Dont try to muscle the gun with the arms. When you move the gun, the lowerbody can be used like a tank turrant to move the gun and using that method, the nose heavy guns can be moved with ease. The light ammo and a gas gun will help the shot recovery. On the weight its a double edged sword. You cut the weight the gun is lighter and recoils more.
  8. I have seen some off limits used as a cut through was added for the RO to avoid getting trapped. On the one about going outside the shooting area and making a 15 second stage a 5 second one. Wouldnt the outside the shooting area be a no go for shooting anyway? The real reason to go out of the shooting area is not to shoot but to save movement ie run acroos an area or around something and step back in and start shooting
  9. My parents had a complete remodel done on their house well in the process of it and have over half of it done. The upstairs, had missed spots on the painting, the nail holes in the trim not set correctly, the new stairs not braced well at all, cracking around the window trim a couple months after done and a thief on the job site as well as other problems. They eventually had it fixed and the guy in charge of the project was a total idiot and will not be overseeing the rest of the project which is done in phases. You would have thought he would have nitpicked more as he KNEW my father was very ocd and was planning on going over everything with a fine tooth comb as it was far from a budget job. Upstairs alone involved gutting alot of the upstairs and redesigning to the tune of about 110K. Some people have no pride in a job well done
  10. CR speed is the way to go if you want different guns. For a one gun only, there are other good choices as well. The CR speed are pricer than the Safariland but you get more pouches for the money as you can use them for different guns
  11. That would be the best carpool ever. The bridge to miami is still out. Im thinking go TRUE general lee style to the match
  12. The SBR is more harsh when fired and not as soft/flat as a rifle length gun. You also loose velocity which can make a difference hitting steel at distance. I use my 10.5 inch occasionally for the local matches which dont have much for distance at all.
  13. saw his in the ohio sectional forum. Kinda seems a fitting donation for an ohio match. We are only 4 entries away from 300. I got something in the mail today from Hogue Inc. I don't know if this was meant as a joke or what but someone is going to get a very nice prize: I can't explain it. It is an Ultratouch heated toilet seat. I don't know maybe we can rig it in one of the port-a-johns.
  14. For me it would depend on the range and how many will be required to be shot. If they are pretty close and will save me alot of loading im gonna go for 1 alpha
  15. it depends on what is behind those berms. It is a shotgun, have you ever seen berms at all on a clay target range?
  16. Yes if you can see it you can shoot it in level2 and above(level 1 also unless they use the exception). It also does not say that the target has to be even activated on the clock as long as its activated. For example, if there is a sole moving target with a foot activator that is WAY out of the way and you can see it and shoot it stationary you can shoot it as such and finish out the COF. After you hit the last shot, you could stroll back over there with the gun in a safe direction and activate the target during the COF. The timer stopped on the last shot though
  17. We usually have a pretty good turnout from the lexington ky area.
  18. Have a 1100 and do well with it but if i were buying it now i would go 930 JM. I got it when i was first starting 3 gun and was familiar with the platform and couldnt spring for a benelli and got it cheap so i went with it. It does need to be kept clean which I dont mind doing as it is like a 5 min job
  19. Some mags are easier to tell if they are pre or post ban than others. Glock for instance, can easily be identified as pre or post ban by looking at the back of the mag.
  20. Ya good job on the google search. The reason its a bad idea is the chamber is longer than the crimped shell to allow the shell to uncrimp and fill the chamber. When the 3 inch is inserted it will fit crimped but has no where to go when it uncrimps except into the forcing cone greatly increasing pressure.
  21. went with the DAA racemaster here. I did the Kydex route for limited and just got an open gun and read a ton and felt some of the different holsters. The racemaster feels good on the draw and much smoother draw than the kydex I was use to. I like the feature of being able to adjust the tension of the unlocked holser as I keep it a little on the snug side since Im use to the kydex and dont need it super loose. I tried knocking the gun from the back and it stayed in till it was moved up in the holster ie drawn. I love the lock feature on it. It is rock solid when locked and the lock is in a very easy location to reach if you need to engage it on the draw just use the middle finger when grabbing the grip. This was a big selling point as we cometimes get starts in posiions other than standing. I plan on locking it for those chair starts, laying on a "bed" starts etc. Figure that split second to sweep the lock off when grabbing the gun on those kind of starts is better than a dq for it getting dislodged.
  22. The problem with spreaders is its just more to pay attention to to make sure you have the loads inserted in the gun where you need them and not where you want a tighter pattern. For practice, hit the clay target side of your club for a few rounds. Your going to shoot a shotgun totally different than the pistol and rifle as your focusing on the target not the sights. If you can hit a moving target on the skeet range, clays and steel sitting still or flipping do not seem bad.
  23. + 1 on clays powder. If your plan on reloading the hulls much, use the remington STS hulls. They are a 1 piece hull unlike the promo hulls and even the AAs. I can check my book, but the 1200 FPS load with a 1 1/8 oz is where you want to be. Mine will run 1oz loads comfortably and that is what I shoot.
  24. They are not a store front operation technically. But if you give them a call or shoot them an email and let them know you want to stop by they will give you the grand tour and sell you whatever you need. I go down once a year during the off season just to say hi and pick up a few things. My last "Visit" there left me quite a bit lighter in the waller
