  1. The main reason he quit giving it out was he discovered an individual using a copy of it to mail stuff via USPS. The individual I guess never considered the headaches that could cause if something came up on the gun and it looks like it came from a licensee who had never seen the gun before.
  2. that is nothing, they really love the flat rate boxes jammed full of brass or lead
  3. My father has one and has no problem taking them from individuals but only FFL dealers get a copy of his license. If it is an individual, they get the numbers to verify the license online. I think the problem alot of people have had is more and more people demanding copies of licenses which they are not entitled to or failure to include any information with the gun being recieved ie DL. He is the only one in the area that currently takes them from individuals.
  4. +1 on the ROA. Most schools with any kind of a shooting team have them set up as basically club sports which offer very little financial backing from the college. I started a shotgun team back in college and we were lucky to pull in 3k or so from the school a year. I just don't see many schools giving alot of financial backing the the shooting teams that really generate no revenue for the school especially with budget cuts left and right. The only school I saw that really shelled out the big bucks for the shooting sports at all was lindenwood maninly because that was the only thing that school really had and the recruited and treated it like a "varsity" sport. For companies, typically donations are marginal at best.
  5. I had a transmission issue go out on my last one around the 120k mile mark. It had been doing it a while especially when driven some and got warmed up. They never did diagnosis it driving it around the block. I attepted to take it into them. Well the end result was since I was staring like a hawk at the gauge, the tow truck driver took it the last few miles and dropped it off on their property with 119,998 miles on a 120k transmission warranty.
  6. loved my rcbs here. I like how it is enclosed when it turn as to keep dust down
  7. Its amazing what thieves will do. We had my suv broken into at a skeet match back in the day right under a light post with a cam that was not working shining right on the vehicle. Basically tore the door up ripping the lock out, destroyed the dash to get the radio then went on a search for guns(which were all in the hotel). In san antonio, they use to put stickers on car bumpers at the match then hit them up at restaurants after the match.
  8. I had a CR speed I won very briefly and wasnt fond of it at all. I continued with the Kydex till getting an open gun and then looked at the racemaster and tried the gun in one chuck had at shooters connection. Rock solid and I have no worries about the back getting bumped and the gun falling out. The gun must lift in the holster to come out. The lock is also in a very good place as well as you can unlock it on the draw while gripping the grip. That was a big concern for me as they do a fair number of off starts around here sometimes ie sitting in chair, laying on "bed" etc. In that case, i am locking the holster till I am out of the position and the hand is on the gun. If it is a stand and draw, It is unlocked.

  13. that comp looks like it would work well for minor PF ammo
  14. Run the tripp for 10 round, and the metalform "springfield" mags in 9mm. Both work perfect in my spartan
  15. let them sit loaded for a while.
  16. bring out the hooters girls and im sure you will have alot of amateur photographers
  17. Corey is a little faster on his feet than the others
  18. You can't go back to the original gun, even if you fix it. Once you switch guns (with Range Master approval), you're not allowed to switch back again. I could look up the rule and cite it here, but I'm too tired after shooting my Tuesday night USPSA local match! I know you can't which is why the sentence above stated "I really don't see a match director having a problem with the switch as long as you stay switched"
  19. I'll take that chance. When the glock is finished(got a kit super cheap) thats coming as the backup. I really don't see a match director having a problem with the switch as long as you stay switched. Like the example above, shoot the heavy gun for the distance and oh no it breaks right before the hosing stage and you swap it out for a light gun then fix the original gun before the next long stage. Buying an exact copy of the gun for a backup just isnt a possibality right now. When we shot skeet in HS/College we had a backup K32 receiver that we kept in a case and took it to the matches. We had all 4 K-80s(mine, dad and 2 brothers) fit where they were totally interchangeable. Any barrel, would fit and work on any receiver including the spare. If something happened, it was a swap of the stock and barrels on the extra receiver and keep going. The difference there was in USPSA, im not gonna win the match so if I end up having a problem and shooting with a less competative gun etc Im fine with it and cant justify the extra money on a hobby. When I shot skeet, I was a very competative AAA shooter and went there expecting a gun champ and If I started having problems, I was swapping receivers which I never needed to do.
  20. what slide racker is that
  21. I don't keep an exact copy but something that could be used if needed. For limited with the 2011, I kept my old glock 24 in the bag with ammo for it. For open which i shoot a 2011, I think the backup will be either my sti limited gun or an open glock that I got the parts for cheap. I doubt a match director would have a problem with that switch.
  22. ON the trigger issue, pick a point on the gun to place the finger when not engaging targets. Practic dryfire and either moving or reloading and putting that finger there every time. On the retreat stages, you can try just backing up. It is slower but safer if your new to it. In your dryfire, you can practice the turn and run method where the gun is basically pointing behind you. Its not that hard but the getting in and out of the run can be a little tricky if you dont practice. I pretty much keep the gun down range then roll the other shoulder around and go. For hammer slippage try using the progrip on your hands if they are sweaty or give the hammer a quick wipe down in the holster before you step to the line
