  1. The lock ring on lee dies is thicker than Dillon lock rings. Sometimes when you get the die positioned correctly, there aren't enough threads on the top of the die to lock them.
  2. Yep, who would have guessed that getting an Orange would be so difficult my local WM always has oranges, even in winter
  3. That's the one brother! Now, get looking at the videos for disassembly and replacement of the safety. If by chance you run into troubles 'fitting' the safety, there's plenty of folks here that can help you with that. Hell if all goes south completely, I could be interested in purchasing your TSO
  4. Glad to see you're helping to represent the US in the WS, let us know how it goes! @Pathfinder1do it! The worst that can happen is there's a set of safeties for sale on the board
  5. I can't speak for everyone, however the 'extra' safeties that came with my factory Shadow 2, did indeed fit (with no modifications) my Tactical Sport Orange. I've been shooting this configuration for ~2 months or 1000+ rounds, with no issues.
  6. I can say with 150% confidence that 'my' Shadow 2 safety fit into 'my' TS Orange, with no fitting required. Not sure if my experience could be expanded to all Shadow 2 safeties in general... Regarding Cajun S2 safeties- they sell several different varieties, not sure if these are Cajun parts or CZ parts, so I can't comment if they will fit or not.
  7. I started with a 650, so can't comment on the value/features of the 550 vs 650. If you decide on the 650, add the case feeder once you get familiar with the operation/sequence of the machine. Regarding the shell plate and conversion kits, use this tool to see which parts are different between the 300 and 223. Regarding tool heads/powder measure, I only reload pistol calibers and have a tool head and powder measure dedicated for each caliber. This will cost you ~$112 (for the tool head, powder dispenser and tool head stand) minus the shell dies and powder funnel, however it's very quick/easy to change calibers. Takes me about 5 minutes to change calibers with this setup and since I don't need to adjust the powder charge or die settings, I drop 3 separate 10-throw charges to verify powder charge, run 5 rounds through the press and measure/gauge each, then I"m off and running. Having said all of that, the Dillon setup isn't the cheapest around. The 650 setup for 1 caliber with recommended accessories is going to set you back close to $800. However these babies hold their value. If you decide to sell your press in a year or 5, you'll get 80% or more of your original investment back.
  8. I use glasses with the camera embedded. You can get a good 'birds-eye' view of targets, transitions and mag changes. What you miss, is your footwork.
  9. I run the Lok palmswell boggie's on my TSO. I have the CZC thin AI grips on my SP01 and they work fine. I have not used them in the cold though, so no idea how comfortable (or not) they are when shooting in the winter, which I don't normally do.

    Shadow 2 Feed Issue

When I experienced a failure to feed (round would hang-up part way in the barrel/feed ramp) my OAL was too short for that particular bullet profile. Try increasing your OAL 0.1 to 0.2 and retest. I went from a OAL of 1.11 to 1.13 before I got reliable feeding of the ammo.
  11. Complete TS seems to be the way to go. Especially now that you can order them for $1050 delivered.
  12. Why put them on a scale of course Now obtaining the spring weight, that's a bit more problematic. All teasing aside, I 'believe' that factory Tactical Sports' shipped with 14# springs. I'm sure there's enough talent on this site, that someone will be able to confirm this is accurate or not. Some folks count spring coils, however I'm not sure how accurate this method is.
  13. Very nice setup!! If I shot more .40, I'd consider doing something like this. BTW, what dies are you using? I ask because, I've found that from time to time when running 9mm, the case gets hung up on the edge of my Lee sizing die. I typically push the case in a smidge and it enters the die just fine. If I were doing this with an automated setup, it would end up either stopping the drive due to over-torque or crushing the case. Maybe this is just a Lee issue as I know the Dillon dies have a larger radius to allow the shell to enter the die more easily.
  14. Here's a picture of my primers shot from a TSO .40 and loaded with 4.3gr Prima V, Bayou 180 at 1.11 OAL. These chrono at 950 on average, which gives me an average PF of 171. I took the picture below to show how firing pin spring weight impacted primer appearance, however looking at these again from a 'flattened' primer perspective, I'm not seeing any signs of over pressure. Am I missing something? Here's another picture, same load of Prima V, same gun. The edges of the primers are still curved/rounded. At least to me they appear that way. I've got some SV on the shelf. Maybe this winter I'll work up a load with this powder. Although, I did hear a 'rumor' that Grafs was going to stop carrying the Vectan/Noble Sport line of powders...not sure if there's any truth to this or not....
  15. I tried green for a while, however here in PA, there's a lot of greenery at the local club matches. I would lose my sight (briefly) during transitions when moving across the green backdrop. Not sure if this is just a practice thing, or if others have noticed this too.
  16. Not sure as I purchased the pistol used. I could however feel the difference, when comparing it to some spare FP springs I have for my CZs.
  17. Checked my Bayou 135 reloads this evening, they sit about the same height as in your first picture; not quite a full rim thickness above that portion of the barrel sticking out. P.S. It appears you've opened up 3 threads on this topic (2 here, 1 in 9mm reloading) I suggest you close 2.
  18. I think I've figured out what's making the unique impressions on my spent primers, firing pin bouncing. The brass below was shot from the same pistol. Only change was a new firing pin spring. Notice the difference in the primer?
  19. I load the bayou (and BBI) 135gr coated bullets for my SP01. OAL is 1.08-1.09 (mixed brass) and powder is either N320 or Prima V, same charge (3.5gr) for both. This combo nets ~132-135PF and shoots accurate and clean
  20. If you are going to shoot limited, I'd suggest the TS or the TS Orange, both in .40. Because of their size, both shoot major PF very softly, granted not .22 soft, but not G23 snappy either. If you are biased towards 9mm, get the SP01 Shadow or Shadow 2. You can shoot that in Production and with mag extensions you would be able to shoot Limited. P.S. New TS's can be had for ~$1050/new/shipped. So not much more than a new SP01 and about the same as a Shadow 2
  21. I have and use both Dillon and Lee dies for pistol calibers. Dillon dies are great once you get them set/adjusted. I like the adjustability of the Lee dies and also the price
  22. I've had luck purchasing tool heads from that auction site. Conversion kits I get directly from Dillon. If you have a few calibers already, it may make sense to use the Dillon spreadsheet that shows you the specific part numbers for each conversion. You may find that you don't need all of the parts in a specific conversion kit, just buy those specific part numbers you need.
  23. OP, it would be interesting to see another variable/element added to this (or a future poll) which shows, rounds loader per session (on a 650) and if a case feeder was installed. I used to load 100-300 during a session, when I was manually loading cases in the tube. Once I installed a case feeder, my sessions now start at 300 (rather than end there) and go up.
