  1. Thanks for the suggestions/comments guys! I had the frame secured in a padded vice today and used an excellent fitting bit (test fit with the new screw as I suspected the staked in one would not depart easily/willingly) to try to remove the screw and the B*tch wouldn't budge. Started to strip the screw head so I stopped. Going to try the manual impact tomorrow.
  2. The mag release on my TS orange is just a bit too long for me to grip without it digging in to the palm of my support hand. No prob, I'll just swap it with the Shadow 2 mag release. My challenge started at Step 1, removing the mag release spring screw. Mine happens to be staked in 2 places. Screw won't budge. Any suggestions for getting this bugger out?
  3. Not sure if the CZ 75 Shadow 1 or 2 is being referenced. Here's the technical data for the SP-01 Shadow and the Shadow 2, from CZ's web site. SP-01 Shadow Weight 1,18 Kg Caliber 9x19, 9x21 Frame Steel Grips Rubber Trigger SA/DA Safety features Hammer safety notch, Manual safety Sights Fixed Magazine capacity 18(19) Overall height, width, lenght 147x37x207 mm Barrel length 114 mm / 120 mm Shadow 2 Weight 1,33 Kg Caliber 9x19 Frame Steel Grips Aluminium Trigger SA/DA Safety features Hammer safety notch, Manual safety Sights Adjustable Magazine capacity 19 Overall height, width, lenght 157/34/217 mm Barrel length 119 mm or 125 mm (with barrel ramp)
  4. If you get the TSO there's not much tinkering to do. You won't need to 'tune' your mags like many of the 2011 platforms require. Now if you like the idea of tuning and tinkering, you might want to consider a 2011 platform. Just my opinion, I'm sure there's plenty of folks that think otherwise. P.S. if you get the TS or TSO, keep the extra slide release in your range bag. You'll need it sooner or later as that is one part that seems to break on these CZs.
  5. Just noticed that the shadow 2 safety listed on CGW may fit a Shadow 2, however the shape/design pictured is from the Tactical Sport. Not sure if Cajun is using a generic picture or what... The Shadow 2 safety is more 'rounded', like the set pictured on CZ's web site.
  6. If you like the Nobel Sport powders (Prima V, BA9.5, etc.) they are on sale at Grafs now. 10 lbs or more gets you free hazmat.
  7. $35 + shipping from CZ USA I'd get the devil screw, also referred to as the magazine catch screw, while you're at it. Mine has defied the attempts of 3 different screw drivers to loosen it. Both Cajun and CZ USA carry what they refer to as Shadow 2 safeties. I'd call both and ask if they could provide the estimated width. Or, take one for the team and order both, then report back. BTW, since I picked up my TS Orange used, I'm not sure if the width I measure (5.5mm) is factory if it the safety was trimmed by the PO Cajun 01606LH Left Safety for Shadow 2 and Tac Sport ($35) CZ USA EXTENDED SAFETY SET SHADOW 2 Product Number: 465423250012 Availability: In Stock Your Price US$50.00
  8. Something isn't right boss. Why not send it back to Dillon and let them do a teardown and rebuild? Save you a lot of frustration and perhaps a bit of money.
  9. Next adjustment for me is fitting the Shadow 2 mag release on my TSO. For me, the release on the tactical sport is a hair too long.
  10. I load .40 (and minor 9mm) using Prima V. What's the change/difference with the SV? BTW, my Prima V and N320 loads (both .40 and 9mm) vary only by a few tenths of a grain to get the same velocity. Which is one reason I'm liking 'V' so much.
  11. Hi OP, if you're going to replace the trigger return spring, you should consider getting the CGW floating trigger pin. Not trying to send you down a slippery slope, but there's a chance you could damage the original pin (I believe it's hollow) during removal.
  12. ~5-8K, based on the first & previous owner. If the replacement sight is as much of a PITA to install as the rear on my SP-01 was, I may just learn to like my new customized config
  13. When this happens 1 day before a match I had to resort to this- Just because I 'have' a welder, doesn't mean I am a 'welder' ; although my customization did make it through the entire match today
  14. Once you finish with the springs and firing pin stuff, I'd suggest putting in the Cajun 10x bushing. It really improves barrel fit in the slide, resulting in better accuracy (provided you do your part)
  15. I'm with Mike on this one. I use a pair of cheap (~$20) digital scales that read x.xx in grains. I could care less about the second decimal, I focus on the first one. I drop 10 powder charges into a cup and check the weight on both scales and then drop another 10 to verify the first. If both drops are within a tenth of each other I press on. Only time this method has had an issue was when one of my scales was dropped and showed a drastically different (e.g. >0.2 grain; I'm OK if the scales are +/- 0.0grain of each other) variation. I verified the 10-drop charge with my beam scale (twice) and concluded that the scale that got dropped was no bueno.
  16. 1050 for the rifle calibers, setup with trimmer, case and bullet feeder. 650 dedicated to your 9mm, with case feeder. Either the dillon or vibraprime for your primers. I use the vibraprime personally and have had good luck with S&B & CCI primers. It didn't work as well with Winchester primers.
  17. I've had a similar (same?) issue from time to time with Lee dies on a 650 and mixed brass. I'm wondering if these cases were from a firearm with very little chamber support or very high velocity.... BTW, for me there was no correlation between headstamp and problem.
  18. I have a SP01 tactical (safety model) and Shadow 2. If you are a Product class B (or under) shooter, I doubt the nicer trigger on the Shadow 2 will provide much of an advantage. Now lets look at pricing (new) for a second. A SP01 will run ~$650 and the Shadow 2 around $1,200. Depending upon the upgrades to the SP01, you'll eat into that $550 savings quickly. The full-on Cajun competition package is ~$400 in house or $300 if you do it yourself and this does not include the 10x bushing, which IMO is one of the best upgrades for the SP01. BTW, if you are installing the bushing, you might was well get a FO front site too, as you'll need to remove the front site pin to install the bushing. If you only intend to install a few upgrades on the SP01, the lower cost makes sense. If you're planning to go the full-Monty with the SP01, I think it makes more sense to get the Shadow 2; keep in mind there's not a lot to change with the Shadow 2. You can basically run this out of the box.
  19. Great discussions, really enjoyed the different perspectives being brought to the table.
  20. Here's the measurements of each, maybe this will help. Wide safety provided with Shadow 2: 7.2mm Standard safety on TSO: 5.5mm
  21. That's it. You may want to call and confirm it is the wider of the 2 safeties that ship with the Shadow 2.
  22. Cajun has them and I'd imagine that CZ USA would also, as it is a factory part.
  23. Guess I was lucky as it was a drop in replacement
  24. If you are on the fence about getting a wider 'left side' safety for your Tactical Sport, I'd recommend trying the one from the Shadow 2. It's not as wide as the CZC one, however it's about half the price and for me provides a marked improvement in grip
  25. If you like N320, you'll like the Prima V. It meters well, burns clean and is within a few tenths of a grain (or the same) of N320; all at half the cost
