  1. Is that disturbing to anyone else? It takes a series of shooters to issue a FTDR to one random shooter who copied the others? I think he stated quite clearly a few problems: 1. He was unwilling to act the first instance he "knew" round dumping was happening. This places too much pressure on the SO's. 2. A round dumping FTDR was not handed out evenly or fairly, because it can not be, as each competitor is their own person and can take no responsibility for shooters before or after them. As far as I've read, IDPA is a single competitor sport. The idea of putting a group of shooter "on notice" is quite alarming to me. 3. A shooter executed a field of fire identically as many other shooters as was not scored the same. 4. Rules that can not or are not applied with equal measure need to have their validity questioned for the sport's sake.
  2. It seems pretty clear on cleats. I actually bought a new pair or shoes this weekend, and they might look a bit like cleats, but they are trail running shoes. They say trail running shoes on them. I actually kept that in mind when I purchased them, just in case someone might think I was wearing cleat like shoes. You can never be too careful, and I want traction when running around with guns, but I will stay in the rules too.
  3. That sucks to have to do that Mike. Here lies the problem that IPDA folks should really address. If the better shooters will dump the rounds descretely, because they have to and if they are smart about it you can't ding them, the lesser skilled shooters will do it with less finess and get dinged. That one competitor was scored differently than the rest for the same actions takes away from the credibilty of the sport, which is not good.
  4. I think IDPA would be smart to dumping the penalty. Any good shooter will figure a smart place to trow an extra round or miss the target with the extra shot to save many seconds on a RWR. It is a game and not doing so will cause you to lose. The thing that gets me is there is no way for the shooter to know how the SO will call things, so they have to be "tricky" about it, and with the huge down 1 penalty of .5 seconds, how can you bame folks for not wanting to get all 0's. I know MOST shooters don't call all their shots. I've enjoyed the little bit of IDPA that I've gotten to shoot, but I would hate to see more matches determined by who you know instead of how you shoot, and I've already seen that. The other thing is cover, I think they should have fault lines for the feet in cover situations. It would make it much more consistant and safer.
  5. When ever a TM calls, first words are "Please put me on your DO NOT CALL list." They know what this means. TM is a crappy way to make a living, but is how they are feeding their family, so I try to be respectful. Now if they say anything other than "Yes, thank you goodbye." Barking like a dog loudly seems to work fairly well, and it always makes Christine laugh real hard.
  6. The feedback that I get from customers with "fading" eyesight, is that the FO front and rears are helpful. For those with good sight, I think they can be a bit distracting and I'm not as accurate with them in bright light. Dawson Precision make a nice set of FO sights.
  7. I refuse to use the USPS for any shippment of large value. They have "lost" several packages (guns) in their own facilites here, they eventually show up, while in the meantime I have customers flipping out. FedEx is worth every penny for me.
  8. How many do you want/need? E-mail me and I'll see what I can do. scott@springerprecision.com
  9. You can just dump the primers from the RF100 in to the tubes like you would into the 1050 primer tube.
  10. You can use quick set epoxy. Build it up and grind it down. On the last layer coat it with aluminum oxide if you want your hand to stick, or just leave it a ground finish if you don't.
  11. The Tripp seem to work well for me. I do have more than a few Wilson mags and I've tuned a couple of them for the .40 and they hold 11 rounds, which works well for the load mag.
  12. From what I've seen it was all a big act and he got exactly what he wanted. He had a friend tape it and asked a stranger to tape it also. He had a websight ready to go to post the videos. I wish the media wouldn't give these guys there 15 minutes.
  13. Having had my nose broken a few times, my sense of smell isn't so good, but the match hotel where I staying stunk, bathtub was broken, and if someone else wasn't paying for the room I would have left the first day. I do think getting a room closer to the range would have been a good move.
  14. I was fortunate to get to burn some powder with some great folks at L/P/R nats. Through the rain and mud and sunshine squad 34 was a great bunch of folks to shoot with. Even though I love shooting, it is the great folks I get to shoot with that really makes it worth all the sacrifices. I was thankful to be squaded with BE'r BryanW (a big ole Texan and great guy and talented guy getting back into the game) and a bunch of other really great guys. It was fun to have a little friendly competition to boot. In a "me first" world, it was also nice to see the "champions" of our sport be such gracious and greatful folks. For the folks who have never heard the speeches at Nats, or seen the tears, it is really refreshing to see these true champions show such great respect and love for their competitors.
  15. Um, I'll fess up as the one who caused the delay at the awards by asking why Chuck wasn't on the list. Tom C. went to the right folks to get it fixed. Apparently, there was a computer glitch that erased a few folks from the match and no one caught it earlier. They had to run to the range and remedy it. He is in the latest update of the scores on the USPSA website.
  16. Sounds like stage 17 of the Open L10 nats (buzzer and light that you couldn't see or hear while shooting.) I made sure to follow the stage procedure on 9 and 18 but I had to "think" about what I was doing because I didn't want to make the same mistake at this Nats. Taking extra time to make sure the can was where it should be was something to think about, but I won't try to argue that it was good or bad or an advantage or not.
  17. It was pretty simple, the Chrono RO saw it and made the call. I know the shooter doesn't consider himself lucky. I'm not sure if they will change it to shooting for no score (since Open is not recognized) or leave him in Limited, but that was that was made as I heard it with my ears from the shooter involved immediately after it happened.
  18. Well, we had a guy in our squad in Nationals who is now shooting in Limited because of tape on the underside of the trigger...
  19. I didn't realize I needed to practice in the shower for this match The rain was rediculous. It sucked watching our guys slip and almost fall on the bridge because there was no mesh on the last step on stage 2. I couldn't get my hands dry and it got in my head. I need to make today much better and just shoot.
  20. Skill is what wins, and you can get used to anything. I much prefer the 1911/2011 platform because I like accuracy and it is harder to get a plastic gun to perform as well at 50 yards. I like the triggers better on a 1911/2011. I do shoot a bit better with the 1911/2011 but I regularly shoot plastic guns (XD and Glock) because the division requires it. I have 30+ S_I mags, and if you get a few a year, it doesn't hurt that much If the clubs you shoot have lots of close targets and few far and tight shots, you probably would never realize the benefits of a well built higher end gun. A fancy gun won't make you a significantly better shooter, only blood sweat and tears will do that.
  21. We did. I can see how folks could get dinged. I would have most likely got procedurals, but in the walk through I realized I would have to make sure to extend my arm after the big run. Pretty much an insignificant stage though, as it is only 40 points which is like 2% of the total match points.
