  1. I agree 100% I know nobody "needs" a 1050, but if you can afford it, it is worth every cent IMO. To me, a 650 in not close to the 1050. It all about the downstroke only. My nephews (10 and 13) can load on the 1050 with the KISS. Just load the the bins and pull the handle down. I hate reloading and this setup makes it not so bad.
  2. If you have any XD questions, just PM me.
  3. I can tell you. The reason is that it kills the divisions. It becomes something other than competition. And, there is certainly a place for getting together and shooting a bunch of stuff for the fun of it with buddies. But, USPSA...USPSA needs to be about the competition first and foremost. I don't want growth if it means we also lose out of the competitive aspects of the game. Because...we don't get that anywhere else...in as big of a dose...as we do in USPSA. I have seen other matches got to pot...competition-wise...by adopting the "lets give them all the divisions that they want" attitude. It's still fun to shoot at those places (sorta), but it is more social than performance driven. I love the very concept of competition...in all aspects of life...and society. It brings out the best of what works. Then, it improves upon what works...sometimes throwing it out for something better...and surpasses the old standard. Always cycling upward. My thoughts exacty, and of course much better stated. For me, USPSA is about getting better and sharing. Nik, I don't disagree that you are doing what you think is best for your area, I've just seen it work diffferent in areas I've shot and personally believe performance should be awarded be overall achievement. If it works for you guys, that is great. I think the reason Production is big in Portland is that Lawman is an excellent shooter and so folks would want to measure themselves against him. I would if I lived there.
  4. So, basically through your "rewards" system you've bribed folks into a couple Divisions That is creative thinkin' I was more thinking abou the A shooter who works hard and travels to your match and has no clue what the local "mix" is and performs well and gets nothing if your handing out stuff. I've just seen too many folks stay a class or two below their performance level for too long for prizes and so I'm not keen on the classification system for prize distribution.
  5. Nik, That illustrates my point even better. You are not rewarding classes very deep and you set a requirement on how many shooters to qualify. If there are only 2 A class limited shooters, no payout. Ding the better guys because the B shooters aren't as good to move up, makes sense. Keep the C guys in C because they don't want to lose in B. Sort of gaming the payout system, because doing it properly would be too expensive with so many Divisions and Classes.
  6. Open, Limited, L10, Production, Rev, SS D, C, B, A, M (GM no awards) If you go 1-3 for awards/ribons you have 15 awards per Division and 5 Divisions, so the potential of 75 awards per match, (granted you won't have 15 revolver shooters at a regular match in most places.) Add in High Overalls and; Senior, Super Senior, Junior, Lady, Military/LEO It is to the point that since most everyone would get a "prize" at our club we don't even do it anymore. I think this applies to a lot of the smaller clubs. What a prize worth if the competition is so dilluted and most folks will get a prize for showing up? It is almost to the point that there are so many combinations that awards have virtually no value. What is the point in having them when we reach that point? You might as well just give out gold stars to everyone who makes the match.
  7. Is that possible with the XD? It has the same firing pin (blocking) safety design similar to the Beretta 92 and the SIGs. The FP safety "disconnector" (lifting arm) resets as the slide moves out of battery at discharge and does not relift the safety plunger out of the way until you fully release the trigger and then re pull. The Glock has the unsafe design where the FP safety plunger raises when ever the trigger is pulled and does not require a reset stroke after discharge. I knew the Glocks could go full auto, but I though the superior safety design used in SIG, BER and he XD prevented that.....? Or else, I wouldn't have been messing with the XD trigger..... .... Multiple things have to be done to get them to burst, but it isn't that hard to do if you don't think things through. Reducing the engagement distance is one of them. We do have lots of OEM sears if you do mess one up though and want to stay with those parts, and we have the good parts also.
  8. Our kit also takes engages 50% sooner than the stock parts, is lighter by 30% and has reduced power sear and trigger return springs also. PS. as noted don't reduce the amount of sear/striker engagement unless you want the possibility of bursts of fire.
  9. +1, and controlling the shot. The more I shoot, the more it seems like all that really matters is getting the bullets where they need to be on each target without hesitation. This AM we were shooting 3 Zebras with no shoots at 10 yards and it started off well, then I thought I should be faster, so I lost control of where the bullets were going and started getting edger no shoots. I backed of just a hair (.2-3 sec over 6 shots) and I was able to control putting the bullets where the needed to go. Shooting out of control is a big temptation and trap for a lot of folks. Shooting in control, precisely, and without hesitation may be a bit boring, but wins matches.
  10. There is nothing to fix. I simply thumb the catch with my grip, and I shoot too many styles of guns to worry about it if I won't get dinged. Thanks for all the feedback!

  12. TDEAN is wicked fast at 7 yards...
  13. Did you have any issues with newer shooters gain a LOT of penalties?
  14. or the splater... The paper will be shredded, but it does look, um, interesting.

    Glock Mags

I got 10 G17 mags from CDNN the other day, and I've never had a bad experience with them.
  16. I try to see the front sight clearly in the a box bouncing around, and at 7 yards it doesn't seem to leave the A zone box if I do things right.
  17. Dude, you need to see My Name Is Trinity, he has the best draws ever...
  18. 1. Don't worry about how other people shoot, shoot for yourself. 2. Learn to call your shoots as soon as possible. 3. Investing in good training and training materials, it will save you a lot of money in the long run. 4. Have fun. If you need XD help give Rich of Canyon Creek or myself a call.
  19. The XD can have a trigger pretty close to the 1911. Parts are a lot more available with the aftermarket stuff coming on line also.
  20. If you reload and rack the slide (with an empty chamber) there is no issues then? That is what I think you are saying. This has everything to do with how I hold the gun, and not modifications done to them. They still function as designed. I'm not concerned about the time involved, just that I do something to get me that nasty 20 sec subjective penalty.
  21. Actually, s/he'd better notice. It's the SO's job to watch the gun. The SO will notice that the slide didn't lock back, and also that when the shooter racked the slide, the shooter didn't eject a round, showing that the shooter didn't do a speedload. I know how many rounds are in the gun when shooting 10 round mags, that is not a problem, it is just the locking open thing. On the XD the gun tells you there is no rounds with the loaded chamber indicator. Will any RO's care?
