  1. For all the folks who complain about not being good enough to win a gun, please realize the gun is not worth the the cost if that is why you would go. Add the airfare/gas, hotel, meals and that is one expensive prize. If you want to spend $200 for a lottery gun, you can do that without going to a match. If you want to go test your skills and have fun, go for it. Heck, I'll give you a one in 10 chance of winning a gun with the procedes going to the USPSA Junior program all day long if If I can get 10 folks to give it a go. I think the Limited match is a fine idea, it isn't for everyone, but so what, no match is.

    Draws <5y

Yeah, that kind of speed will get you 100 per cent on every classifier in the book. I have never seen a .70 draw in a match of any kind. I need to get out more. +1 If you do that in a match you are quite a spectacular shooter. I doubt any of the top shooters in the US would have draws that fast in a match. I know the raw speed of first shot is not as important as many think.
  3. Check this out. http://www.handgunsmag.com/tactics_training/combatg_100306/
  4. In talking with someone from CA I guess there is a provision about the technology that is currently patented having to be free to all manufacturers and functional. I guess that means no once fired brass in CA
  5. Grip tape is your friend. I bring it whenever I teach a class, just because it makes a huge difference. Yesterday I had a woman student that what shooting a little 9mm Kahr and they are slick and buck for a little pistol. Just a little piece where the palm of the left hand grips the frame and she was good to go for over 300 rounds.
  6. All of my SVI's run factory ammo fine. Having a 2011 that doesn't is silly IMO. I think it is important to be able to go to the store and get match ammo in a pinch, especially if you ever travel to matches.
  7. I use the Wilson Tactical button on the ones I set up and you generally have some minor fitting in the spring screw area. Never had a problem with it fitting the other side.
  8. The SWC will give you headaches all day long on the XD .45.
  9. If you use PayPal, I suggest ONLY using the invoice option, that was you as the seller have control over what the PayPal censors read. We had one issue with them, and I sent a nasty letter and it was back within 24 hours. Rob, yes, if someone scerws you, all you would have to do is send money to their e-mail account saying something like you did. I'm sure the censors would find it within 6 months or so
  10. http://www.oregonshooting.com/cps/results/results.JPG Sorry, the folks who keep the stats can't figure out how to get them to me in digital format, so they sent me a fax and took a picture.
  11. The feel is different and that is about it. I think you might get better feeding if you were to have a mag on the edge of working or not. Sometimes I'll switch stuff up so I pay attention. I have a couple students who really prefer the RM. I don't really care either way as I shoot lots of differnt guns and it doesn't make the times faster or slower.
  12. That is the same as the Pact scale and I have one and I prefer the Dillon hands down, well worth the extra $ for me.
  13. Thanks, proof positive shooters with a background in shooting ISPC can adapt to shooting IDPA and do ok. Sort of puts to rest the IDPA vs. IPSC shooting BS that goes on, since it was the 4th time I've shot a real IDPA match. Hopefully next time you won't have a premature ejection of your pistol from your holster and you can shoot all the stages and kick some butt.
  14. I would loan him a G17 for the match if he want to shoot for a score. I generally bring a few extra guns and ammo, just in case. Let him slide and it goes downhill from there. I think if someone who doesn't know better, comes to the range, it is a shame to turn them away.
  15. The only reason I would think you need a real fancy Glock trigger is if you mostly shoot something else. I have the hardest time swithing to a Glock because I can't "prep" the trigger the same as I do with the other guns I shoot. If you shoot it all the time, it should not be that big of a deal. I shot a Glock match a couple weeks ago and ran into a couple times where I was wondering why it wasn't going off, but it was because I just wasn't slapping it like you have to (I shot a single stack match the day before.) For me I rip on the Glock triggers and gently ride the 1911/CZ/Tanfoglio/Springerized XD triggers.
  16. Thinking is the biggest distraction from "doing." Practice is so you can "do" without thinking. If you start thinking, then you stop "doing" and that road is a rough one. I've never had a great stage that I thought my way through.
  17. Techwell, I like the Alumagrips and it is easy to switch between the 3 options for the well size.
  18. If you don't trust yourself nothing really matters. You need to know: 1. You can call your shot and make all the shots 2. You are fast enough 3. What you need to do in the stage Then you just need to go and do it. Good luck and keep your chin up. Everyone gets frustrated who tries to improve. ps. Sometimes when you shoot a lot you start getting sloppy, as Homie said and knows, good practice is what make you get better.
  19. Match summary: 10 stages, 5 hours of shooting 7 Master Class shooters and lots of EXP 60+ competitors 70 degrees and sunny with a bit of wind, but a real nice day overall. Shooters from AK, WA, ID, MT, CA that I know of. A great start for IDPA in Bend, and we are looking forward to next year!
  20. The new Caspaian mags are great! I like the basepads design also, pretty very clever.
