  1. This is what I use as well when shooting shotgun, AR, or am around anything with a brake. . They do work quite well. Prior to these I primarily used EAR plugs. . I still use electronic ear muffs for most handgun shooting and matches.

  3. I have the Dillon roller handle but I am considering an Ergo handle for the 650 which I load on standing up.
  4. I have a Gen 4 G-34. Compared to some Gen 2 and 3 Glocks I have it is more accurate. I don't like the trigger pull as much as the Gen 3's.

    9mm S&B

Exactly. Doesn't hurt to run a magnet through it either. I have found S&B steel cases that appeared to be brass.
  6. Is Hodgdon's word good enough for you to dispel this Internet myth about tumbling loaded rounds being an issue? http://www.americanhunter.org/blogs/tumbling-ammo-dangerous First time I have seen that link and it's interesting. I have always heard not to tumble ammo but I also like shiny ammo. i will tumble some and then run a few through the chrono to see if there is any difference. I'm using the big Dillon tumbler.
  7. I agree. I tried 45's by hand and with a small tool that came with some moon clips. Based on recommendations from the folks here at BE I got the BMT tool. It certainly ain't cheap but it is certainly worth every nickel. I have loaded or unloaded a few hundred at a time and it was very easy and quick.
  8. You are correct about the money part and the future doesn't look pretty. I had a few officers try to compete but they didn't reload. Buying 2 or 3 boxes of .45 ACP ball ammo, entry fee, and gas to get to the match meant they didn't get to shoot many matches. You can buy lots of groceries or pay the power bill with that money.
  9. I have 2 550's because I hated switching priming systems. And I got a good deal on the second one. I have one 650 and would really like to have another one. As was just said they make the loading bench look cool.
  10. Part of the problem is what passes for a qualification course in any states. For the most part if you can get most of 50 rounds somewhere on a B-27 target, which is a big piece of paper, you qualify. Might even be called an "expert". This does not make an officer try harder and it gives them a false and possibly deadly sense of security and ability. The time limits are still pretty close to what they used when officers were using wheelguns. When they go to any kind of match it is an eye opener and some are to intimidated to try again or can't afford the ammo to get better. Lots of folks don't realize that and as was just stated ammo is among the first things cut in the budget. Most of the matches I go to like to see LE come out and shoot and will take the time to help them get better.
  11. After using Oneshot I switched to Dillon lube. Made a world of difference. I spray my ammo with 91% alcohol and roll the ammo around with a towel to clean the lube off. Works great.
  12. Glad I saw this. Mine started slipping with not more than a hundred or so 9 mm cases in it.
  13. Better or not they look cool. I'll get a couple on my next order.
  14. This is the problem I have started having with about the same percentage of crushed cases. I hate losing the primer as much as the case.
  15. Would it work with 148 gr wadcutters? It would be much cleaner than Bullseye or WW 231. And I like it in my 625. Have not tried it in my 1911. It works great for 148s. 2.3gr is what I used. Shoots just about an inch at 50 yards. Thanks for the load data! I will try that load out. I don't think my wheelgun will shoot an inch at 50 and I know I can't.
  16. I tried Wolff and ISMI 13# springs in my G34 with a 129-130 PF using 147 bullets. I preferred the ISMI and a Jager rod for this load. Not knocking Wolff as I use them in other pistols. It's worth trying both if you can as it is probably user preference. But I do know I can shoot faster with a 13# spring.
  17. I am currently using Bayou 147's. Is there enough difference to switch to the 160 gr? I'm using N320 now.
  18. I have been using MPro-7 oil lately and I like it. I have also started using Fireclean on revolver cylinder faces and it really helps with keeping it clean. Have not tried it for anything else yet. Will do that when I get more time to shoot.
  19. I used One Shot until I tried the Dillon spray lube. The Dillon product is much better in my humble opinion. I could tell a big difference when sizing 9mm and 45 ACP. I spray, let dry for 5 minutes, then start loading. I spray with 91% alcohol to remove the lube from loaded rounds. Works great for me.
  20. Glad you made it to retirement! This is a great forum.

  22. I've heard that theory and I can see some sense in it. Don't think they were that noticeable the last few scares. Now they have tv shows. Nix on paying through the nose. I can shoot 9mm cheaper. I agree. When I can shoot my 9mm reloads for the same or less than a box of .22's, why bother with the rimfire? Production, profit, and what the market will bear is at work. I have also heard it is a low profit item and the beancounters probably had a hand in what gets the most attention. I don't know about all the companies, but some of that equipment is decades old and has evidently been okay until now. It will take a long time for upgrades and new building and equipment to get to the point they can make ammo and it lands on the shelf.
  23. I hate having a new .22 pistol and not enough ammo on hand that I want to start shooting it. I can find .17 ammo, no problem, or at least not as much of a problem. Blows stuff up, but can't afford to burn up a brick at a time. lol! I do know I'm not buying any .22 rimfire rifles or pistols until ammo is available at sane prices. But that's just my two cents worth.
