  1. If you give up trying to find a 7 inch Buckmark, you can always buy any model Buckmark, except for the Contour, and buy a 7.25 inch barrel to swap. You can buy them direct from Browning. Blued Bullseye barrel is p/n B5152815 and the Stainless Bullseye barrel is p/n B5150058 and are about $130-140. The Hunter barrel is p/n B5150021 and is about $90.
  2. The Buckmark rifle is a lot of fun for Steel Challenge, but it is a little different to shoot because it's not exactly like a traditional rifle like a 10/22 and not exactly like an AR style rifle. The Sporter works well, but they also make a Carbon Fiber barrel model that is over a pound lighter than the Sporter.
  3. The dents are from the case hitting the case deflector during ejection. Look at the deflector and you'll see brass marks. If the dent were further down the case it would be from the case hitting the edge of the ejection port.
  4. If you cant them, you can't bend over (excuse the deliberate pun!) without getting poked by the extremely sharp corners of the FSL carriers.
  5. Hmmm, I don't know if that's GREAT or LOUSY timing. The West Coast Steel Championships are June 21 & 22 in Piru, Ca. It's great if I can make it to both, but lousy if I can't because they are back to back weekends!
  6. Give the broken wrench tip a good shot of penetrating oil like PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench so that the open areas of the hex head are full of liquid, then using a needle-tip air gun shoot high pressure air (90+ psi) straight down into the hex head. The air blowing the liquid down into the hex head will hydraulically lift the broken wrench tip out of the hex head. Be careful not to shoot your eye out!
  7. I use the Arrendondo knob and orient the knob so the OFF position is at 7 o'clock (looking down at the switch, 12 o'clock towards the muzzle) and full on is about 5 o'clock. For shooting outside I almost always just turn the switch full ON and indoors it's about midway to full ON.
  8. Whew, I thought for a second he was going to say "Herpes!" which probably was the #1 answer.
  9. Winchester will replace the ammo, IF you are insistent enough.
  10. Plan 9 Wins big on both counts! Up for dis-honorable mention is Kevin Costner in the Bodyguard, where he also uses his pistol as a pointer when points his pistol at the face of Whitney Houston to indicate which direction she should move.
  11. If you're going to use 'more forgiving' case gauges verify they are tighter than you chamber by dropping a fired case out of your gun into the case gauge. If the fired case drops fully or almost all the way into the case gauge, that gauge is too 'forgiving'. If the fired case won't drop in more than half way, that case gauge is tighter than your chamber and is good to use.
  12. Back in the days of PPC revolvers with very light double action springs it was necessary to run ONLY Federal primers AND it was mandatory to clean the primer pockets in order to get reliable ignition. You can try cleaning the primer pockets to see if that helps.
  13. Speed reading with comprehension will teach your brain to process visual information faster. Yes, we understand misspelled words because we are looking at the entire word rather than the individual letters, we can also do the same thing by learning to look at entire paragraphs. It does translate to faster sight pictures. Try starting with a single unread sentence on your computer screen in large block font. Look off to the side of the monitor so that the sentence is out of sight, snap your eyes to the monitor screen and immediately snap your eyes back away from the screen. What did the sentence say? This is exactly the same process of seeing the sights while transitioning between targets. There is lots of information available online.
  14. That looks to be about the same speed as a full size Texas Star. I modified my BAM Texas Star the same way you're thinking about to get it to react faster by drilling holes in the arms. It reacts and spins much faster than a full size Star. I can slow it back down to the original speed by sticking magnets to the arms. Full size Stars now seem really slow and easy.
  15. How fast do you read printed material? Do you see complete words or do you see every letter of every word? When reading a book do you read as if seeing a movie or do you speak each word in your mind? If you're doing the latter, try taking a speed reading course. Seriously, it will have two benefits, one it will help with recognizing your sight pictures faster and second it will only take you half the time to read the forum.
  16. I liked it because it was different, and the movie probably should have been named Tonto rather than the Lone Ranger. I enjoyed this version of Tonto, not knowing if he was actually crazy or really was a mystic? Also liked this translation of Kemo Sabe!
  17. Not dead, just got numbers in... To make a run of 10 of them, it will be about $400 each.... to make 100 of them, it will be about $60 each... either way it is a bunch of coin out of my pocket up front.... All things are being considered right now... I'm guessing you're still shopping machine shops? You sure do a lot of guessing.... lol. The biggest expense is the dies.... that cost seems pretty universal. I don't know if I can front the kind of coin it would take to make this happen. So even at $50 each to break even, I would need to pre-sell a bunch, not just "I'm interested" on the forum to cover a good chunk of the costs, not all of them. One thing that this lifter would not have is the "coining" one the one side, we'd use a shim washer. Looking at wear patterns, the coining itself is not effectively keeping the lifter from riding on the trigger housing. That is where I am at for now. Have you looked at crowd funding like Rockethub? http://www.rockethub.com/24384 Seems to work OK for the guys making 80% receivers
  18. Midway has the 80 round ammo can in stock for $89 http://www.midwayusa.com/product/644566/fiocchi-low-recoil-ammunition-12-gauge-2-3-4-7-8-oz-aero-rifled-slug-ammunition-can-of-80-8-boxes-of-10
  19. That looks like it might be a Wilson Flanged barrel.
  20. You can use a piece of PLATE glass for the flat surface. Easy to clean up and the liquid (water or light oil) will hold the wet/dry sandpaper tightly to the surface. Just don't get fumble fingered and drop the slide on the glass! You can probably pick up a piece large enough (12" x 12") for working on a slide for free or for a very low price at a large glass shop.
  21. Just for giggles I once brought an XD to a GSSF match to see if anyone noticed. They did and were NOT amused! Some folks just have no sense of humor.
  22. Darn! I was hoping by "2 Gun" you meant a pistol in each hand!
  23. I realize it's not an SVI slide, but almost every SVI removable breech face that I've seen eventually breaks in the same place. It doesn't seem to affect function in any way, so I just remove that little lip on the removable breechface to prevent the possibility of the little piece jamming up something when it does break off.
