  1. Fits great now, and feed flawlessly. I put 300+ round through the gun, including monopodding off the magazine without any issues. ”Gear teeth” on the Guard’s bolt pass perfectly through the feed lips, it’s never double-fed nor failed to strip a round: Completed rifle with the $$$ handguard that’ll be mounted on it shortly: I did initially try to run a gas deflector at the back of the ejection port because I’m a lefty. See all those marks on the inside corner? I had all kinds of weird failures because the empties were bouncing off of it and heading back into the chamber on my first range trip. I removed the entire dustcover assembly and it runs flawlessly so far! What do the blowback guys in my group of USPSAers think? It feels soft, and funny. Not like a tuned blowback gun. Not like a gas gun either. I like it. Now I have to figure out how to flatten her out: tons of dot bounce in it the way I built it!
  2. Well... the fool’s errand may just have succeeded! I spent this afternoon running 300+ rounds through a complete CMMG Guard upper. It’s mounted onto a QC10 Colt mag lower which is fitted with a KE Arms SLT-1 trigger. First obstacle: The “wings” on the feed ramp needed to be ground down. I did not touch the actual feedramp. Before and after: The other issue? The mags sit too high for the 5.56-style bolt in the Guard. The magic number for my lower turned out to be .015”. Started with a notch this tall: Hand-filed the left one open at the top until it’ll seat on a closed bolt easily: It fed fine like that, but monopodding the gun causes it to lock up. So I backed the notch with a brass block that was cut & sanded to fit the mag tube: Then welded the bottom of the window with my MIG welder, filed it to fit the mag catch effortlessly, and hit it with some cold blue: (next post)
  3. You load your own ammo? Why not load up some dummy rounds with neither powder nor primers. I have about fifty of those lying around at any given time. To find the videos John is talking about, search youtube for "Tanfoglio Tuning"
  4. If I lost mine I’d happily pay $150 to replace it. They’re that beneficial. Only a mrbulletfeeder has been a better addition to the reloading process on my 650.
  5. Shh. I’m actually going to send it back to him in hot pink. It’ll be hilarious.
  6. If it turns out to actually be some ugly color, send it over. I have some items to cerakote armor black soon. But the handguards in these guy’s images look to match the rifles, so it probably is just your display.
  7. Yeah but... my tanfo took three months of nonstop jamming to figure out. I made the “tanfoglio tuning” youtube videos on how to get them running like a Glock AFTER suffering through that! I feel like I signed up for the same treatment: No one has gotten a Guard upper to feed from Colt mags out of a QC10 lower. Here I am again, the same old idiot who has to be different...
  8. I just put my rifle together, and so far I’m very happy with the Holosun 510C - not that my opinion is worth much. I havent even shot it yet. It’s won a mational championship and it’s cheap? Yep. I went with that one.
  9. @Aircooled6racer funny you should mention that: I’m going to be mounting that ultralight (and ultra-spendy!) Brigand Arms carbon fiber hand guard on this gun. UPS says they’ll deliver it tomorrow: https://www.rainierarms.com/brigand-arms-ar15-carbon-fiber-handguard-edge/ 4.6 ounces... with barrel nut. I’m making no move to reduce weight in the upper (has forward assist and a door) or lower (QC10 ain’t light) but going to play with seeing how much weight I can possibly shed out in front. I may hate it, but that’s the beauty of AR’s. Someone will buy it, and I can play with something different. I think I’ll go with .625 like the KAW valley barrel measures. Thanks everyone!
  10. My new CMMG Guard upper has a rather hefty .750” barrel that’s 16” long. A machinist buddy is about to cut it down for a pinned & welded comp. While he has it, we want to look at turning it down to a smaller OD. For those of you who have an MBX barrel or any similar lightweight unit, what do a pair calipers show that your barrel OD is?
  11. In Limited 10 you can have a magwell and a single-action gun. See? Still <nothing> alike! <written in Sarcastica font, 12 point>
  12. Are you out of touch on the 2018 rule changes? As of May 1, all aftermarket hammers and safeties and triggers are now Production legal. Run a race hammer in your CZ, or an APEX trigger in your plastic gun. (Yes, this post is 100% fact, and 0% joke.)
  13. What you are aiming at makes a huge difference: A USPSA paper target will invite you to wander around in a 2” or so circle due to the lack of precise reference points for dead center. Particularly in the vertical plane. An 8 to 10” round steel plate with a fresh coat of white paint? I find it VERY easy to precisely center the sights on such a target. My slowfire group size on a round plate is always smaller than it is on a USPSA Metric target. And if you’re trying this indoors? That’s an exercise in poorly lit futility.
  14. @Qbert @muncie21 .. does this platform not set off CCIs consistently in factory form, or have you done some sort of trigger job? Which press are you loading your CCI-primed 9mm ammo on?
  15. How often do you dryfire? If you do a fair bit of it, do you use a snap cap in the chamber? ...See where I’m going with this?
  16. Which is funny, because the lightweight polymer guys have been running extra-heavy tungsten guide rods for years. “To help make the gun shoot flatter.” I think 90% of the benefits of such a part (aside from making the gun light enough to be legal) exist only in the mind of the shooter.
  17. One of best things you can do is to put a few hundred rounds through the gun and a bunch of dryfire. THEN take it apart to polish it. You’ll be able to see the shiny spots on the otherwise dirty components.
  18. I’ve got one of these on way from this guy. His are very high quality and run about $65 at the moment:
  19. This thing looks pretty cool. If I were righthanded, anyway! https://fm-products.com/upper-receiver-glock/
  20. Apparently I could make quite a killing buying the smurfguns and doing a “cerakote and flip” in either Black and blue, or stainless and black. My Stock 3 when I sold it: If only such activities didn’t require an FFL just to airbrush them and resell. Lol
  21. I have TFX PRO’s on my carry gun that sees occasional Production division use. EVERYONE in Production and Limited is running a fiber optic front sight. FOs are both legal and highly asvised!
  22. What on your belt are you looking at? The mag pouch? I actually haven’t seen a new shooter fall into this trap before. Do enough dryfire practice at home that you don’t feel the need to look at any more than sights, magwell, see the top round going in, back to the sights. Do you look at the gun in the holster before the draw?
  23. It feeds a Glock 34 just fine. I don’t see why it wouldn’t feed a PCC.
  24. Apparently it’s in the U.S. now...
  25. Better yet. Check www.ammoseek.com eaxh time you’re shopping, and skip the need for a list like this.
