  1. I took it out because seemed like the slide was pretty sluggish going into battery, maybe now that the gun is broken in a bit I'll retry it
  2. Granted I'm 35 and still somewhat young, I do a push/pull/legs excercise 3 times a week along with HIIT cardio, such as sprints, stair climber work, anything that's a full on effort with some rest, go again. I'm starting to think I only workout so I can eat more
  3. I wonder if using a sauna at a gym/just sweating would be enough to clear it out?
  4. I HAVE to leave my bag, fully packed and looking at me I walk out the door to head to a match, nothing worse than getting somewhere and realizing you'll be loading from your pockets
  5. I've never understood why Springfield rears are so tight, I've literally had to use a taped up steel punch and 3 pound mini sledge to get them to move. Obviously make sure if it's one of the Novak rears you've removed the set screw
  6. I'm still pretty new to dots but thus far I've had pretty good luck with 10 yards
  7. Dunno if this will help but with my wife's 3 gun shotgun we did a similar setup and the spring was actually getting bound up when we would reassemble after cleaning. You could tell when the spring would hang up and the follower would have no tension on it, literally smacked the hell of out it on the extension coupler and it would solve the problem
  8. If I have a match that week I try to dryfire about 15 mins a day and go the range once to make absolute sure everything is gonna run correctly. Hard to believe but I have a nasty habit of changing s#!t the day before a match
  9. If slide mounted dot, your 1911/2011 would fall into the limited optic category. Seems like limited ops is here to stay, good thing I finally started shooting a dot like last week!
  10. I would think hooking it would cause sideways movement, I basically karate chop my support hand into the undercut of the trigger guard when I establish my grip
  11. I vote red hill level 2, they're all I run for pretty much everything now. The double kydex is a nice feature to help with heavy guns as well
  12. Yes, uspsa and 3 gun I bring backups just in case. I had a front sight get loose mid match a couple years ago and have brought an extra just in case. Obviously its easiest when they run the same mags/ammo
  13. I like the double alpha racer pouches, they come with a pretty thin piece of steel to clamp to the belt but I run a safariland els so got the adapters to make that all work. They're strong but release pretty easily
  14. I've tinkered with a couple dots and always wind up going back to irons, in time I'm sure I'll revisit it but it just seems like you need a lot of reps to break the habits of iron sight shooting. I noticed when I would shoot I was constantly hunting for the dot to reacquire and consequently was either slower or severely less accurate. I'm sure that's a grip issue however.
  15. Wow I'm really late to the topic, I've had super good luck with Springfield anything but my go to for single stack is my dan Wesson pointman 7. Dan Wesson's may be a little pricier but you get what you pay for especially for 1911s
  16. If he was new I get it, I've done seemingly obvious things wrong as well, I shouldve been dq'ed a couple times but I learned from the mistakes the RO pointed out to me and feel I learned better than just tossing me.
  17. I have a pull behind cart I got from academy that carries the umbrella and cooler full of powdered powerade and water. I've seen some dudes with little battery powered fans and thought it was genuis.
  18. 2 for me, it just seems more natural, if its within 3-5 yards I just look totally over the rear sight and hope for the best
