tomgallup
Can someone recommend Hard chroming places now that Tripp is no longer doing it? Thanks Tom
CDRODA396
http://www.apwcogan.com/Greetings.htm You can do a search on here for "Bob Cogan" or "Accurate Plating and Weaponry" and you'll find nothing but praise for him and his work.
kgunz11
+1 on Bob. Heck of a nice guy. My Edge is going to him once I get it back from Matt.
03k64
Two of my guns were done at Fords.
zhunter
Virgil did a Limited gun for me, it was GREAT. But now I have mine Ion Bonded, I like the Ion Bond better. YMMV
L9X25
I don't like chroming gun parts and prefer the PVD type of finishes but, if you must, this is good advice: http://www.apwcogan.com/Greetings.htmYou can do a search on here for "Bob Cogan" or "Accurate Plating and Weaponry" and you'll find nothing but praise for him and his work. Carmoney
Accurate Plating and Weaponry supports competition shooting. At my first USPSA Nationals I snagged a AP&W certificate off the prize table which Bob had donated. I had them plate an aluminum-framed 1911 and it came out great. I have personally had customer service and quality control issues with Fords, and will not be using them again. I recently saw a gun plated with Ion Bond that had a very noticeable area where the Ion Bond plating had already flaked off. That certainly should not be happening. scirocco38s
Who did you get to do the Ion Bond finish? Ion Bond in Greensboro NC. But unless you want the gun some other color than chrome, I would get the gun chromed before Ion Bond.
Matt Cheely
I just sent my gun to Plate-Tacular. We'll see how the finish is going to hold up.

9146gt
Any body use Metalife? I bought two revolvers with Mahovskys Metalife and like the finish and the way they cleanup. Tom
HSMITH
If you want a matte finish Metalife does a nice job, they didn't offer anything other than matte finishes the last time I talked to them. The truest color and evenness I have ever seen comes from Accurate Plating though, no matter what the base material is.
Duane Thomas
Cognizant as I am of the "no industry hate on the board" rule, I will not post my Accurate Plating & Weaponry experience here. Anyone who's curious, send me a PM.

jjanglin
Plate-Tacular uses a cobalt chrome like finish, its a little darker in color. Daniel does a heck of a job I think. He is a chemistry teacher so he knows the chemical make up. Ive had several guns done with Daniel and he is good!!!! Jim/PA Sailors
Derek45
I"ve had some done by METALIFE and TRIPP. TRIPP is longer doing it so here's some METALIFE... Very satisfied with both. TRIPP seems brighter, like they leave it in the tank longer or something.
Duane Thomas
From talking to Ron Mahovsky at Metalife, their finish is what some derisively call "flash plating", i.e. they leave it in the tank a very short amount of time. Thing is, in my experience (I had a gun Metalifed years ago), the flash plating gives you all the wear resistance you could ever want - so what's the big deal? K9-Bob
I had a Metalife applied to a Kimber Eclipse. I didn't care for the black and stainless look and am very happy with the way it turned out.
