Flexmoney
Those where used to hold the reins on horse draw carriages, when the driver wanted to set them down but not lose them. They were named after the blacksmith that first came up with the idea. (Patrick? O'Brien? ...something Irish)
tightloop
Looks like the pivoting part of a cabinet latch to me... and NO, Flex I have a couple of reins holders from carriages in the horse and buggy era...that is not one of them.

Huston in Austin
Sorry to be off topic, but if it could be the thing used to stack old military rifles in the tripod configuration you see in old war movies. Just guessing here.
Northern Xtreme
Wow I didnt think that many people would actually see that post here that quick! You guys have got to get a life!! I also didnt know we had that many smart asses on the forums. After having considered all of the suggestions I am inclined to believe it is the kickstand for the Limcat Open. The proof is in the picture. Very nice pic BTW! Since it has been dicontinued I am offering it for sale for $500. It could make the difference between 1st or 2nd in a major match with all of the table starts we have these days. Thanks for all the help guys. Next time I need help identifying a part I'll know where to go! Or not!
