Hello everyone,

Guns are a very familiar weapon to us. It appears from within the game, even in real life. Guns appear most probably in the military. In the military, all kinds of guns are used: from pistols to rifles. I want to ask what kind of pistols are used in the military?

Thanks everyone.

Most of the U.S. military is still using the Beretta M9.  The Army is transitioning to the M17 (full size Sig 320 with external safety) while the Marine Corps is going to use the M18 (Sig 320 compact).

I believe that there are still a few Sig 228/229s out there in the Naval Special Warfare community, and as well CID type-units.  Most of SOCOM is using the Glock 19 these days, although a few of the more-specialized units are using some exotic pistols like the Staccato P.

This is by no means an exhaustive list, just what I've gathered from discussions on this topic for the last year or two.

Actual soldiers would rather have an extra canteen than a pistol.

Hmm. Well, when USAF medical officers are called upon to defend the lives of caregivers and patients, they are issued pistols. And most train with them to achieve proficiency.  They take the defense of life seriously and their pistol may be all they have. Trust me, they don't want to operate in a conflict zone without a weapon to protect those in their care and a pistol is usually all they have. Seriously.

Fairchild AFB incident where a pistol stopped a crazed gunman.

Meanwhile, Senior Airman Andrew P. Brown, age 25, with the 92nd Air Force Security Police Squadron, was patrolling the base’s housing areas on a bicycle when he received an emergency call on his two-way radio.  He pedaled a quarter-mile to the scene and, while still some 70 yards away, spotted Mellberg shooting at scores of panic-stricken people in the parking lot.

Brown ditched his bicycle and ordered the gunman to drop his weapon. When Mellberg turned and shot at him, Brown dropped into a combat crouch and returned fire with his 9mm Beretta M9 semiautomatic pistol. He fired four rounds at Mellberg; two missed, one hit him in the shoulder and one struck him between the eyes, instantly ending his homicidal rampage. The drum magazine in Mellberg’s MAK-90 still held 19 rounds of ammunition.

The United States uses several. Here are some with some of their corresponding NSNs. Most standard personnel use the M9 until it gets phased out by the M17 (Army) and M18 (USN,USMC,USAF). The Mk series handguns are typically used by specialized units but in the supply system. For those concerned about this post and national security these are all easily found with the internet and .gov websites that are public.

Beretta M9 NSN 1005-01-118-2640

Sig Sauer M17 NSN 1005-01-661-7317 (Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Sentries have a special M17)

Sig Sauer M18 NSN 1005-01-661-7309

Sig Sauer Mk25 (P226) NSN 1005-01-613-2301

Sig Sauer M11-A1 (P228) NSN 1005-01-340-0096 (Tritium Sights) or 1005-01-336-8265

Heckler and Koch Mk24 mod 0 (45C)

Heckler and Koch Mk23 1005-01-426-8951

Glock Mk27 (Gen4 G19 MOS with Threaded Barrel) NSN 1005-01-658-1930

Glock Mk26 (Gen 4 G26) (NSN 1005-01-559-0724)

And as soon as they draw it, they become a legitimate target under the law of war, but not before.  Which is why we refer to them as POGs and REMFs.

As said, USGI is Beretta M9, new procurement Sig M17/18.

But if you as CO can get something off Doge's list after those, or better, COTS, it will show you are a leader of superninjaswattieroneoperators who need superduperweapons and are surely marked for advancement.

In what era were you an "actual" soldier? If it was many decades ago, things have changed and pistols are absolutely value-added in various situations.
