EGW or Koenig hammer?

Hello. I was about to order another EGW lightened hammer to fit with an EGW sear in my STI but then saw the Koenig Shooting Sports  lightened hammer. Has anyone had experience with both for comparison? Thanks.

I like the EGW hammer, but I've had three break at the spur over the past five years or so.  They do replace them for free, but it's still a hassle.

EGW makes them both.  The EGW is 0.1gr heavier than the Koenig.  The EGW is always in stock; the Koenig not so much.  I have both and honestly cannot discern any functional difference between them.

Yeah, the business end is the same on both.  Just different design on the spur and slight weight advantage for the Koenig.

Thanks for the responses. Can't see why the Keonig is about $25.00 more from the same vendor.

Did EGW give any insight as to why this happened..... repeatedly? Did you have failures on the same or multiple guns?

Different guns.  They said the earlier hammers were weaker due to the size of the cuts on the spur and that the current production the cuts are a bit smaller.

 I have both too and can’t tell the difference between them.

Have always used the Koenig hammers on all my guns; best I have found.

I like them both with a STI sear (with a true radius)

They’re both great. Only real difference I’ve noticed is the tuning-fork ring with every shot you get with the Koenig! Also, I assume Doug gets some small consideration for the use of his name on the hammer. That might explain the price difference?

I have used both and both are quality hammers. The first production run of the Keonig hammers were to thin and cracked. Once they fixed that issue they have been bullet proof for me.

I noticed that sound.  It definitely sounds different than any other hammer but you only really hear it during dry fire or when you hammer down on an empty chamber.

I broke an egw spur also.  I think they have since beefed it up a bit.  They also said to not nitride it because it makes it brittle.

I been using Extreme Engineering Lite Speed for several years on a few guns. No breakage, no cracks, not even showing any wear on the face.
