  1. I, too, have that issue with extended mag releases. I have meaty hands and the palm of my left hand just below my thumb will press the button constantly. I usually forgo an extended mag release, but have had some success with the round ones for 1911s. Outside of that I will drop a mag often with most other types.
  2. How was the accuracy comparison between the two? Is the Brownell barrel worth the price with an increase in accuracy? I would be interested for sure if the accuracy gained a bump up.
  3. Might post this down in the gunsmithing section. One of those guys might be able to look at the pics and see what might be happening (not me...). Who made the pistol? Not flaming them, just wanted to know if it was a mass produced pistol or a custom.
  4. That looks really nice! I dig the logo in the center of the grip as well.
  5. What the line per increment? Looks fairly large. Did someone sa they checkering comes in a smaller version??

    ZEV OZ9

I got my hands on a ZEV at the NRA show this year. Man, they are the best custom Glocks on the market. I just wish they didn't cost soooooo much. I just dont know, for me, if they are good enough to warrant the price. They do feel great in the hand and they have good triggers. Just cant justify it I guess.
  7. Sheepdog, Honest question, how does milling keep the threads from stripping?
  8. WOW! That is a heck of a gift. Congratulations!!!!
  9. I have a 17 MOS and do not see a single benefit to machined over the MOS. As stated in another post, strip a screw, just replace the MOS. Strip a screw in a machined slide and you are out of luck.
  10. Cost and resale I would go with the MOS.
  11. He used the typical type grip squeezers, just really heavy sprung. I could do the #2 model, but you couldnt budge the #3...
  12. Another vote for the Dan Wesson. Best factory 1911 these days in my opinion.
  13. I would suggest back-up sights on a CO firearm in the event the optic takes a dump. There is another thread going on the forum on that very topic.

    GEN 5 Finish

That very well could be. I wonder why/how one Kydex is rougher on finishes than another?
  15. I think you are overlooking the rotational pressure applied to those "hinges" by the wrist which allows for increased downward torque of the hand. Not saying it should be "the" grip, just curious as to why it hasn't been explored more.
  16. It is no different than the middle stage or the last stage. Its a mental game. As others have said, dry fire at the safe area table is good, but allow yourself so space to warm up,, if you will, on that stage. Shoot it maybe at 85% speed and go for more A hits. Tell yourself that you would crush this stage if it was the 3rd or 4th one of the day. Set a reasonable goal and go for it. Like golf, the first hole doesnt have to be the bad one.
  17. Having a gun in hand - even if you are not shooting live ammo - is always a positive. Being off for 2 months seems like it should not affect you too much physically, but do not underestimate the mental aspect of shooting. Ifind that as long as I am handling a firearm and I feel mentally with it, then I shoot better. Since it seems that you are a laws enforcement officer, I would encourage you to keep up with all of the aspects of carrying a firearm for a living and shooting USPSA matches is just a portion of that.
  18. Decent gun, then tons of practice. I often get caught up in equipment and gadgets. I like those things, but the do not cause me to shoot instantly better. I try now to shoot until I have an issue about the gun that is holding me back. If I can say, "This particular feature, or lack thereof, if slowing me down or causing me to not perform better", then that feature gets addressed. If I listened to my inner voice about equipment, I would show up with the Swiss Army knives of guns.
  19. Those small dots take a beating on the slide. I see several LEO in our area carry small optics on their duty weapons, but with co-witnessed, back-up iron sights. I wish I had a suggestion as to how to make those dots run long term, but not sure there is a way right now. Maybe the manufacturers will address the issue. Glad to see you shot a safe match even if it was with your carry pistol.

    GEN 5 Finish

The wear on the finish was on the corners and from the Kydex, not shooting it or by handling. What ever Kydex holster that was used was very unforgiving on the finish.
  21. I agree from experience with ltdmstr... I have owned custom barrels that were smooth and polished from the start, and I have owned factory rifles with horribly rough bores. I always break-in the factory rifles.

    GEN 5 Finish

PSA: Saw a Glock Gen 5 today that has been carried for a few short months in a Kydex holster and the finish was really rough! The new finish does not like Kydex and I was told the Gen 5 slides are a bit wider as well, though I have not measured one. Have any of you seen the same?

    Unusual malfunction.

I am glad you found the answer to the problem! Wonder how the spent case remained in the way even if the magazine spring was not pushing up the next live round????
  24. Are you suggesting we test for paper punch residue???

    Unusual malfunction.

What does the case rim look like for the spent piece of brass that is still in the gun? My guess..... is that the spent case is being pulled back out of the chamber and the extractor lets go of it before the ejector shoots it out. The slide, which I suspect isn't fully cycling (and could be part of the problem) then comes forward and shoves the chase downward and locks up the slide as we see in the pictures. What might be causing a failure to cycle fully or extract/eject properly?
