racknrider
Finally got around to weighing my guns. 45 is 41.8 oz, 9 is 42.5 oz (1911s) and 40 a Eagle comes in at 39 oz. How close to the limit are you comfortable with?
Youngeyes
Unlike my wife, a gun doesn't have a "bad" weight day. As long as you are at or under the limit, you're good. Unless something goes wrong with the Earth's gravitational pull in the future.
racknrider
Yeah, but ask your wife which scale is her favorite because it weighs the lightest.

That could be a problem. 8.2.2.1.3 The unloaded firearm with the heaviest magazine must weigh 43.00 oz. (1219.0 grams) or less.
Paul-the new guy
It is an aluminum grip with a steel main spring housing and the stainless magwell. Hmm I just give them the gun and the mag I know makes weight.

WhiteDingo
My .40 2011 was 38.4oz at the Patriot Match over the weekend; I was expecting it to be heavier, but I'm not complaining.

Forrest Halley
I love this subforum for the slips, flips, and calls. "So I only make weight when I change out parts ahead of time and inflate my magazines with hydrogen." "Yyyou are a cheetah!" "I will vacate all of my world titles." Personally, I weigh all of my carry magazines and gun twice a year. The doctor never can figure out why I bring them to the physical....

9X23Guy
Does anyone have the weight difference for plastic, aluminum and steel grips? I am wondering if it's possible to take an eagle type gun and make weight with a steel grip.
v1911
Aluminum, yes. Steel, no.
bigdawgbeav
I just had my new RIA Rock Ultra .45 lightened. I haven't picked it up, but with an empty mag, the smith reported it is at 42.7oz... uff, close. I really need to get that magwell replaced. 9X23Guy
What if you drop the mag well do you think a stainless steel grip would still make it then?
