niroth81
Here is my new baby. I had the same issue with my Quinn mount BeerBaron. Thumbrest is just way too far forwards so I've got a tanfog one on order. It did occur to me that the whole thing could be bought backwards on the gun to be closer to the Cheely. Just didn't think drilling and tapping more holes in to the frame was something I wanted to do just yet. It's still on the cards though, as the closer to the back of the gun the sight is, the less movement you'll get in it. If I did go that route, would I be able to get 2 additional holes rearward of the stock 4 holes? Is there enough room/meat and nothing in the way internally? kneelingatlas
Where would you acquire an aftermarket barrel for a Tanfo? I would like to rebarrel a Gold Custom without ports and experiment with different compensator designs. Therein lies the question! From time to time EAA stocks 6" barrels, but after the price hike they're $321... Power Factor Shooting/Briley has toyed with the idea, but it's stuck in the mud. Your best bet is to pull the comp off the second barrel which comes with the gun and only has one port in the comp. You can also just have a new cone comp made and cover the holes. gennaro
Jamiethesquid, You can order a 6'' inch barrel from EAACORP , cut it down and thread it , or if you have the V12 version of the Tanfoglio open gun , what you can try and do is pick up a 4.75'' inch length barrel, thread that , and I believe you can buy a cone comp from Eric Grauffel . Go to ericgrauffel.com Best of luck.
niroth81
Well in that case I guess some details are in order: Tanfoglio Limited Custom HC with comp barrel conversion. Quinn 3 CMore mount. Currently has all the stock running gear in it. The previous owner thinned the grips down for easier access to the mag release, which I don't actually mind, he did it well. CMore hood cover is on the way. Tanfog thumbrest and new grips should turn up in the next day or so. Here ya go. And if anyone is interested in seeing a quick little clip of it running have a look here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtUfSSI36uU I have plenty of other vids on my channel, but they are all with my SP01 Shadow. I'll get some match footage next weekend if anyone wants to keep any eye out for it.
gennaro
niroth81, Great looking gun. You can add one more hole on the frame with no problem. I am also contemplating adding that 5th hole too , and slide the mount back a little further. Best of luck Edited August 6, 2014 by gennaro
Jamiethesquid
I love the lines of this pistol. And would love to jump in to owning and competing with one. But, the aftermarket hasn't caught on to these, enough. Really wish that one or more of the major barrel manufacturers would step up and produce a barrel. BeerBaron
niroth81, Great looking gun. You can add one more hole on the frame with no problem. I am also contemplating adding that 5th hole too , and slide the mount back a little further. Best of luck I agree that 1 more hole is possible but 2 maybe not. Nitoth: if you look inside the frame it's already getting thinner where the 4th hole is (most rear hole). Also you start to run into the parts in the frame where the barrel sits etc. Apparently the frame is pretty hard to drill. I think you could add a fifth hole but the put the mount on only the rear 3. That would get it back far enough.
Jadeslade
These pictures are awesome. Nice to see a slide mounted optic. I would be happy to find a new gun to purchase-not to be found. I know the factory is shut down for the month-hell, all of Europe is shut down for the month, so probably won't see too many guns that soon. I know that Tanfoglio is the match sponsor for the world shoot-perhaps they will be having product available around that time. Nice guns.
niroth81
Jade, check again; I don't think you are seeing any slide mounted optics there.
BeerBaron
Jade, if you're in the us there's an Eric custom v12 with both barrels for sale in the classifieds. Might be worth looking at. In other news. Forget all this drilling and crap. Thanks to kneelingatlas Matt Cheely has bee enticed to bring the eaa setback 90 mount out of retirement and run off a batch for us. I'd suggest anyone who thinks they may want one at some point should buy one now. Niroth, if you want one, let me know. It's the proper solution to this problem. Jadeslade
OK. Now I know my eyes are bad. I thought that STS was on the slide. Thanks! BeerBaron, thanks. I'll take a look. I usually like to buy new, but sometimes gems do show up. I really like the Stock models I have looked at. Might get me to shoot Production again. They are aesthetically pleasing guns and clearly can be made to run well. Edited August 7, 2014 by Jadeslade
BeerBaron
One question for niroth81: when you went to the Quinn did you reuse the same 2 screws that were holding your cmore to the upright mount? Mine are too small for the holes in the Quinn and it didn't come with replacements. I need to figure out what they are.
Neomet
Nice pics Atlas. Those appear to be BAWO creations. The comp is certainly their design. Here is their website. I will save you all the time it takes to email them. Germany is uber-restrictive on selling gun parts out of country. I tried to score some goodies from them a couple years ago. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://www.bawo-custom-guns.de/&prev=/search%3Fq%3DBawo%2BCustom%2BTanfoglio%26rlz%3D1C5CHFA_enUS503US504%26espv%3D2%26biw%3D960%26bih%3D494
niroth81
BB: No mate, the tanfog cmore screws were too small. I have a large assortment of screws and just went and grabbed 2 that fit it. They are cap head screws and are a tight fit in the cmore, which means I don't need loctite as the cmore basically holds the screws tight (Yes they are loctite'd anyway). How much are the cheelys going to come in at? I might be interested if they aren't too expensive. On another note, does anyone know if those Limcat cmore knobs are available? I know the arredondos are out there, but those limcar units are just hot as!
BeerBaron
They are going to be $99 USD inc shipping for US customers. possibly around $110-$120 AUD give or take for us. it looks like you have the standard cmore not the click switch. not sure if those knobs fit that model or the click switch model. a mate had the standard switch and found it would sometimes turn itself down during a stage! putting on a heavier knob may make that worse. the click switch solves that problem with the detents. but unfortunately I don't think it's cost effective to upgrade a standard model to the click model. I have to say having used both now I'd not go back to the standard switch. being able to crank up the dial and know where it's set instantly by feel is a nice feature. The arredondo one looks like it might fit standard switch though.
BeerBaron
just checked. I have it backwards. they are made for the standard switch (click switch already has a nice aluminium knob). but as I thought a number of guys reported it accelerated the 'dot turns off automatically' feature on their cmore standard switch models. gunnit
Gennaro, First off I have to say you did an awesome job building that Tanfoglio Open gun. That is a thing of beauty. I want to ask about the cool work you did on the slide lightening. You said you have the V-12 also , I have the V-12 too , and I was wondering what the weight of your machined slide is , compared to your V-12 slide ? And I also want to cut the dust cover back on mine too, I think that just looks so very sexy. For awhile I thought I was the only one shooting a Tanfoglio Open gun, it's nice to see others using it too. Again a very cool build , I really like the way the entire gun looks , great job.
