  1. Hey Brian, I drop tested some of the xtreme 165's tonight and my CZ P-09 seemed to like them all the way out to a max OAL of about 1.190". Here on Benos, I have distilled a sweet spot of approx 1.150"ish with 2.8gr of Titegroup giving about 130 PF. I hand cycled the rounds at 1.190" down to 1.140" and they cycled fine so I think that my starting loads will be with 2.8 of TG at 1.170", 1.160", and 1.150" and then the same at 2.7gn of TG. I hope to chrono this Friday. But I will definitely function fire them. Talk soon. Jamie
  2. I had Santa/Wife pick me up the Venom for Christmas, high hopes. I will report my thoughts in coming weeks. Jamie
  3. It looks like the supressor ready model would fit in the box based on the listed dimensions and the production gun list only says P-09 so is there any other reason why this would not be allowed for production? Jamie
  4. Pun definitely intended. Lol Jamie
  5. I recently switched from SS division to Production, shooting a CZ P-09. I am absolutely in love with the gun. I bought the various parts from CGW and installed them. The difference in the SA and DA trigger is remarkable, I then added a set of Fiber optic sights from Dawson Precision, they have been my go to sights for years on the 1911's and I was no less impressed with these. The holster was purchased from Blade Tech and I was off and running, I am a mid to high B class shooter in SS but with this gun I was quickly winning production overall and came in second overall in the match behind a Limited Master. The magazines are a bit hard to find but after a few minutes of searching online I found them at CZ USA in stock, ordered 3 extras and had them in a few days. Pull the trigger you won't be sorry!!
  6. I have been shooting and carrying a 1911 for the last 10+ years, I decided to give the P-09 a try in production, dropped in some CGW parts for a really sweet trigger and some Dawson sights, couldn't be happier. Second match and I was second place overall and second in production 1.35ish% behind the match winner. Got a DOH holster from Blade tech, super nice and bought 3 extra mags from CZ for $45ish a piece. FWIW my Wilson ETM's were $35+ and the Dawson Ice magwell no gap base pads were another $10 and I had 7 of those. The accuracy of the gun is excellent, only 400 rounds down range go far, waiting for the caliber conversion for my Dillon. Not a malf of any type. I am extremely pleased.
  7. Conversly, during a match where we had multiple calibration issues with a couple of poppers that were settling in the soft sand. The RO asked me to paint them up in case it failed to go down again. I grabbed a can of paint and jogged to the steel. I wear electronic muffs and can hear quite well. Just as I get to the targets I hear him tell the shooter "Make Ready". I yelled out some obscenities (first thing that came to mind looking down the barrel of the next shooters gun). He was a fairly inexperienced RO and he didn't RO again that day. I am an RO and I totally understand how things can get on the range. Especially when there is a back up and another squad is waiting behind you. However, we are the best insurance of safety on the range. However you want to handle the untaped target is fine. I usually have the shooter put his hands on top of his head and my second RO/Scorekeeper will stand within arms reach while I tape or reset the missed target. That is just my routine. Not any more right or wrong than any other way. Just the way I do it. Jamie

    CZ Open

I just picked up a P-09 and "Boy Howdy" am I impressed so far. Saw that they have a 5.3" suppressor barrel for the pistol and as soon as I find one in stock I am going to pick one up. Or I might just purchase a Suppressor ready pistol for a second gun. Throw a red dot and a comp on it and I think it would make a fine starter open gun in SA mode, shooting 9 Major, with a slide mounted optic or a modified SJC or Carver mount for a Glock.
  9. Totally Agree with this Dave is great to talk to and really know his stuff.
  10. I like that Printed line, much easier to see.

    P-09?

The P-09 arrived. Great gun. I have small hands and right now I think the M backstrap feel right. Installed the dawson fiber optic front sight and black rear. Went in with just a few strokes of the file. The CGW parts are top notch and really took the trigger to the next level. Just waiting for the mags and Blade Tech holster and I will be shooting it in a match on the 28th and the 29th.

    P-09?

I just bought a P-09. Should be here tomorrow. Got all the CGW parts. 3 extra mags from CZ USA. Blade Tech holster, Dawson sights. Some Wolff recoil springs to tune it for my handloads. Plan to run it hard in Production and Limited Minor.
  13. Yes, although as a side benefit, I have tried a bunch of other powders that I now know suck a$s compared to Clays in the .45 ACP, Last night I poured the Last pound of Clays into the powder measure, the can was already open so it just barely filled it, this is going to be used up at the Northeast Sectional, this weekend and Area 7 Next weekend. Sad. On a certain Video Podcast, they had an interview with Chris Hodgdon, and said that 700x was almost identical to Clays, well that may be true in a 12ga but in a pistol, it is not even a good substitute, I am down to 1/4 pound from 2 pounds that I was able to find at the LGS. Dirty, smokey, flashy, snappy, un burnt powder everywhere, I have tried lighter and heavier charges, coated and uncoated bullets. more/less crimp, Longer/shorter OAL. I have some PB, Tight Wad, and 7625 to try next. I bought the 7625 for a planned open gun.
  14. That has nothing to do with the trigger, If you pull the trigger and the front sight moves you have a trigger control problem, and probably a grip problem.
  15. Definitely a huge reduction in smoke, I was previously shooting .45 200 SWC over Clays, Lotta Smoke. Now I have switched exclusively to Worcester Bullet Company, (A Local Shooter, who went into business casting and uses Bayou's coating) Accuracy is great Velocity seems slightly higher YMMV. Best part is zero leading in the gun and no mess in the press. Plus with the amount that many of us handle, load and shoot, there has got to be health benefits to no exposed lead.
  16. No better support than Dillon, Period!!
  17. Practice without a purpose is not going to get anyone anywhere. If I go outside and kick a football a thousand times it is not going to make me an NFL pro. If in practice for shooting I break down each aspect of my gun handling and work each part individually and combined with the other necessary skills until they are technically perfect, then add speed, and adrenaline, those skills will improve. But gun handling is only one part of this game. A very important part, but only one part.
  18. It is so unbelievable to me that there is a 12-18 month back log on the production of these guns. I have a hard time waiting for 3 day shipping after I have bought something.
  19. Please Let us know what you find out from ZEV their triggers are usually a huge improvement.
  20. Therein lies the question! From time to time EAA stocks 6" barrels, but after the price hike they're $321... Power Factor Shooting/Briley has toyed with the idea, but it's stuck in the mud. Your best bet is to pull the comp off the second barrel which comes with the gun and only has one port in the comp. You can also just have a new cone comp made and cover the holes. a second barrel comes with the Gold Team??
  21. I wish I could do it, LOL I am a lefty and until they start making a left hand eject 1911 I am screwed. Oh well.
  22. I love the lines of this pistol. And would love to jump in to owning and competing with one. But, the aftermarket hasn't caught on to these, enough. Really wish that one or more of the major barrel manufacturers would step up and produce a barrel.
