down0
Tewlman,I am on your squad. Coming down from Minnesota. We have never met but I am guessing you also shot at the DPMS Tri-gun this year. Does anyone know if the Range in Vegas sells ammo.? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not unless a vendor shows up to sell it. There is a Bass Pro Shop attached to the Silverton Casino. Brian Payne
Thanks downO. I am sure I'll be able to find something. Just need birdshot, don't want to ship or carry that much weight. The handgun, rifle, and slugs I can handle. 95 degree weather will take a little getting used to. Just had 33 degrees two nights ago. Shorts and T-shirts I guess. down0
How about staying off the strip?, I don't want to spend the rest of my life trying to get back to my hotel. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Suncoast Resort/Casino is about 15 minutes from the range: www.suncoastcasino.com As is Rampart Casino: www.rampartcasino.com I haven't stayed at either, but that's because I live in Vegas. The Suncoast has all the usual amenities plus a movie theater. Rampart has a decent Irish pub. FWIW, when it's completed, the Red Rock Station Casino will be about 5 minutes from the range. 9x45
down0, As we say in the Desert, It's a dry heat. But as you know, when the temp drops below 32°F, you also have zero humidity. Think of it as the dead of winter, except the sun will warm up your shotgun so you can't touch it, and the rifle will be ready for hot zero,

diehli
is interstate 215 open all the way to west chaleston yet?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> The 215 isn't completely finished yet... they're still working on it. That being said, it's probably going to be the fastest route from the South. From Decatur to Flamingo it's not freeway, but it is fairly quick moving (around 9 at night when they begin construction at Tropicana it can be a bit of a pain). Summerlin Parkway is also a nice route as it's freeway from the 95 to just before the 215. If you're staying on the south side (down by the 215) take the 215N. If you're staying on the north side, take the 15N to the 95W/N to Summerlin Parkway to the 215S to Charleston.

George
Just confirmed our rez at the JW Marriott. It's only 5 minutes from the range and out past all that downtown crap so I won't have any traffic to worry about. My wife and I decided that the package deal they had going at the JW was worth it in the long run because it was a deluxe spa room and also included two meals a day for both of us (they have 5 decent restaurants on property). I figure I'll be lounging in a Jacuzzi with a cold one less than ten minutes after leaving the range. That's gonna work out jes' fine ;-)

George
I might make it out a bit on Friday night because Saturday we shoot late and I can sleep in to compensate. We'll see, I am probably being way over-optimistic about "my" free time ;-)

Mickster
Trying to get packing today and since we're flying out we have to pack as light as possible and need some advice from those who have been at that range. Are there benches to sit down on to take a breather at the bays? Or should I pack my folding camp stool? Will I be able to park the car close enough to the bays so I don't have to backpack a ton of gear? Is there any shade at the bays? Anybody on the forum shooting on squad 24? Thanks and looking forward to the match.
George
In 02, there was "some" shade, there were "some" chairs and you could park near most stages (crowded at times though on some). Bring the camp chair, or grab a cheap one at a discount store in Vegas. Sanitary facilities were porta-potties and it was dusty.
