9mm conceal carry

Recommended Posts

Good day. I have two primary conceal carry guns a4in .45 Kimber and for the past year J frame. With all the new guns out this year what would be a good compact 9mm. to be carried all day long. Single stack is fine. Would be nice to hear from people who actually carry concealed and work all day long. Thanks.

I carry all day every day.

My normal carry is an STI Escort in .45ACP (available in 9mm). As I recall, the empty weight is 23oz. When I want to go lighter, I carry my STI Rogue-empty weight 22 oz. The Rogue has been replaced with another model. Mine runs like a top and is very accurate. Our friends at Shooters Connection hooked me up.

For those really light days, I have a Diamonback DB9. I believe it's advertised weight is 12oz empty. It shoots to POA at 15 yds. I will say it is a new item on the market and may have some bugs in it. I had to tweek my mags to get it running consistently.

I carry in the plant and am on/off skid loaders, forktrucks, and machinery every day. Of course a good belt/holster combo is key.

I was carrying a cut down 2011 Tactical (VIP size) but found it heavy and cumbersome for daily wear. It just got heavier and heavier every day. Plus riding in a car was not comfortable.

The M&P compact in 9mm with the thumb safety now rides OWB via Alessi snap on leather holster, every day. I was looking for something smaller, but I think the M&P 9c is a good compromise between size and usefullness. Any smaller and I think the shootability suffers.

Normally I'd say Glock 19 or 26 -- but you already have a couple of sizes covered in carry guns. So now, I'll say Glock 19, because sizewise it sort of fits between the Kimber and J-frame, or go smaller than the J-frame with a true pocket pistol in .32 ACP or .380. Lots of choices there from NAA, Seecamp or Kel-Tec....

I also carry a 9mm all day every day.

I pocket carry a Rohrbaugh R9s which is a 9mm. It is really easy to get used to, much easier than other options I tried...jeans, shorts, sweats, dress slacks anything with a pocket. It is expensive and not something you will enjoy shooting but it is very accurate and it top of the heap for the pocket carry option. They are also very specific about the ammo it was built for but I find that OK too - 124 JHP. Mine has eaten everything I've tried but I only carry with the recommended ammo. Very smooth trigger too.

another fine option in the Kahr PM9, small, nice trigger, well built and less expensive than the R9.

I picked up a Kel-Tec PF9 last winter and love it, easy on the wallet and reliable. I love my Glock 27 but that little 9mm is so small and easy to carry that I find myself carrying it most of the time.

Thanks for all the input. I have tried several options. And I think a single stack mid size. But now I need to narrow down between them . Kahr cw9, kel-tech , the new ruger. Am I missing any one? What would be the best choice. Thanks

Sig P239 or CZ 75 Compact nothing beats their reliability.

There are a lot of new small 9mm's out there. All have their good and bad points but until I am able to shoot them all I will pass. I am leaning towards the Ruger SC9 except I prefer not to have a mag safety, but that is just me. Also, most are too new to have much in the way of holsters but that will change quickly.

I carry a Glock 19 IWB or Galco Combat Master all day every day. Best CCW pistol ever. Ever.

Glock is an excellent gun and if I had to carry one it be 19 or 23. But they just do not work for me.

I would recommend a smaller caliber like a 25 or a 380. Thme guns are smaller and easy to conceal in baggy clothes. My cousin use to carry a Ruger 9mm and a tech9. Those guns are way to big and people who know what they looking for find out quick. That's the last you need is peeps knowing what you got. Holla at me if you want to see some pics of my lil gun.

+1 on the Rohrbaugh. I have carried one for years, w.o. issue. Follow the ammo recommendations, and you should be fine. A p7 psp is also.a.great choice, but a very different gun to shoot.

If a G19 doesn't work for you, then in my and millions of others shooter's opinion you probably just need to keep at it.

Not a single other pistol mentioned in this thread can match a G19's balance of reliability, shootability, size, lightness, and "real gun, not a toy factor" ...meaning that you could shoot matches with it if you wanted to and could go to war with it if you had to, even neglect it, and it would still more than likely save your hide if called upon... that's why they're so ubiquitous.

I agree 19 is a great gun . I just cannot get use to the clock wrist . the only glock that point well for me is 30. and I do have 1 that I carry from time to time . I was just looking for something skinnier and lighter .

Kel Tek PF-9 for me. Polished feed ramp and S&W dry lube.
