OpenDot
double charge? yeah, from what the OP on the other forum in the link said..
stringcheese
I don't get it. My 44's are full with one charge. How the heck does someone double charge a caSe that is already full?
JimmyZip
Different powders take up different amounts of space in the case. One powder may fill that sucker up with the given charge. Another may just barely get half way there. Take your eyes off the ball and BOOOM!
bluenite
That dose not look like I would expect, almost no crimp on those bullets and the one that blew barely moved out of the case.
cas
It wasn't a double charge, but about 7 grains too much. Another ugly set for my ever growing collection.

stringcheese
7 grains of what? That's why I use 4227 in my .44, it fills the case. 4227 is also very accurate. 21 grains if I remember correctly.
Bubber
I have misread my scale and had 5 grains more than I thought. Luckily for me I was just pushing the max load by a little with the extra 5 grains. It was stout and I enjoyed being able to pull the bullets from about 100 rounds. later rdd

JakeMartens
I have double charged a 45acp case with clays on a 550 back when I first started reloadeding, I have the blown out case, the blown up next case in mag and the bullet from it super glued to a picture of my family on my reloading bench to remind me not to be stupid and pay attention. lora
Wow, these photos and events are impressive. I now, will never, not use my powder checker/alarm on my 650. Thanks to all of you who survived and have a photo and story to share. Thanks to all of you who survived and have a photo and story to share. Hopefully, "That which doesn't kill us,will make us more friggin attentive" The screw backs out on mine often enough that I sometimes ignore the alarm so I don't really trust it, there's no substitute for looking in every case. jeffscaspian
I just decided to shoot revolver for the fall/winter. I am now starting to have second thoughts after seeing and the "convertable" revolvers with their tops down. Maybe I need to get away from Titegroup. Norther
Blowing up your gun from an overcharge is hardly revolver specific. I'm shooting Titegroup now. I have read some references to it being unsafe before. How can it be unsafe if you stick to published load data?
